What did you think of this ride? 💭 Would you participate in a race like this? 🚴♂️💨 If so, would you try to stick in the front and aim for speed or performance, or hang back, enjoy the party and have fun?
I did this ride and I totally agree that it was a great event, so well organised and a lovely route! It is fun to ride fast but also fun to stop and take in the views and meet other riders too! Well done Skyline!
Did this for the first time last weekend. Great event, great atmosphere, couple of lovely descents that allowed a fat old man to catch up a bit of ground on the racing snake types
Yes Guys!!! Thats me with Hank! was amazing meeting you all, thanks for taking the time. Cycling & GCN saved my life, i really mean that. Before cycling I stuggaled with so much in life but finiding the sport and then GCN was a game changer! Love you all! Ian
Enjoying the super nerds series! Next challenge - Vätternrundan 2025 (Sweden). 315km and Europe's largest cycle race/event. It's a perfect ride for the three of you 😁
I agree it would be nice to see. But aren't "Den Store Styrkeprøven" ('The Great Trial of Strength') the biggest with it's 540 km (340 mi) long route which starts in Trondheim and finishes in Oslo, Norway. It's an annual bicycle cyclosportive event held in june. First held in 1967. The record is 12 h 51 min 4 sec.
Loved the '3 Nerds' attempt, but loved even more, Connor's antics on his and Hank's ride. Especially Connor giving support and pushes to riders on that last climb. So entertaining.
So cool to meet all of you on Sunday and have a laugh with Hank and Conner (and be in this film taking to hank!), thought you were all such great lovely guys (except Ollie😅, but if you ride 94 miles home after the London to Brighton you're not expected to be human 😂😂) I got home and immediately took out a GCN subscription, if you ever want to come the Chilterns to ride, please get in touch, I'm the membership secretary at Amersham Road Cycling Club 👍 Ride Safe, (and buy Alex a camera tether😅)
@@conordunne1 oh poor thing, only joking, I did a 68 mile ride round Essex after watching all your videos, ate half a pain a chocolat, 2 jaffa cakes and a small chocolate brownie and 2 cups of tea, bonked after about 9 miles, was carried round by my mates, the last 10 miles were a complete blur 🥰🥰
I sort of did 8km in but as I modified my bikes so SRAM red etap battery was in bar ends but didn't get to ride before bike ride, so lost gears unless hop off to change by derailleur, my foster dad thinks me saying the training tyres is why I took so long is just an excuse for being unfit at the moment, I hate how he don't understand wheels that weigh 1kg is so much easier to keep going than ones that weigh like 3kg, it's like heavier wheels sap my energy but light ones don't, they don't cycle so won't understand that, 2018 without training but fitter on light tubular was 3h 40m and had front flat going down at 42mph, I weigh 25kg more and with heavier wheels, not cycled in months took 7 hours
I have done exactly this, didn’t eat anything before starting; figured I would just get something at one of my usual places along the route. Big, big, mistake. I have never felt so physically miserable. I made it to the store/cafe I had originally planned for; thank goodness for Gatorade and pastries. Fixed me right up.
@@rudolphpyatt4833 I did eat like 3 hours before and as struggle to eat when cycling I had a camelpak to drink from which had carbohydrates but drank a litre less than should of and wish didn't have gear issue
A route I did many times when I lived in London. Great food and great connections back to London. First time it took me 7.5 hours, on a hybrid using Google Maps in my pocket!!!! My first proper cycle. I liked it so much I went back the following weekend. It got me into long distance cycling. I cycled once from London to Brighton and got to it before midday, around 4.5 hours. I also did it following a bad crash on the way, long-story, I still got there all bandaged up like the mummy, still bleeding a little!!!
You have inspired me to practice my cycling and have a bucket list event of flying to London to do this event! Very enjoyable!!!! I am proud of Conner for cheering on the people in the hilly section! Well done! 🥹🤩👏
Great video! It was awesome to mix the ride fast challenge with the comedy segments mixed in. Loved that you took the time with the GCN fan who's been inspired like so many of us to try cycling and keep going with your content egging us on and making a bit of community.
When do we get a mega dorks series? Nerds are a dime a dozen, but dorks are a rare breed. That ABBA reference had me 😂😂😂! It’s also cool to see Connor changing his inner Tyler Pearce with a t-shirt ride 😎
Brilliant editing 😂 So good throughout whole video...especially the "dropped" GTA moment. You can definitely notice the difference towards more natural humour and interactions between presenters since the ownership change 👌
'No drafting of the filming vehicle occurred' (would do as much as I could!). Also - have ridden with Ollie - I have an idea of how quick someone needs to go to drop him. Chapeau!
I’m definitely enjoying the Super Nerds Super Bikes series! Seeing GCN put the power down is always great to see. Glad Si didn’t bonk this time, Connor took that honor this go around. Keep up the great work!!
I wondered what you were all up to! I left my home at 3am to cycle the 65km to Clapham 6am wave. Complete the route and back home again making it 180km and my longest ride. It was great to see you all at the start.
In 2011 or 2012 I did this with work on my old 26 inch mtb. This was the start of my cycling journey that has since taken me around the 312 and into the cingle de ventoux. It’s a great event for the beginner cyclist and a great cause.
This looks like a really cool ride. My son is doing a local charity ride this morning, but it was 88F with high humidity at 8:00am - I stayed in the AC. You should look for a Barber for Hank - the stop would be worth it.
Great video highlighting both sides of charity rides! The friendly spirit and the competitive edge. Which would I choose? Honestly, it's a bit ironic to take pride in "winning" a charity ride, as if it were a world championship, but let's be honest, it's probably my only chance of actually winning something.
Well done guys, me and my husband did the challenge too and raised money for 2 amazing charities. We enjoyed the ride and the party though as it was our first time, so not aimed for speed. Well done to everyone ❤
It brought back good old memories. 2007 I think. With a good friend at the end of a great bicycle trip starting from London eastwards through the southern coast we decided to get back from Brighton to London in one go (of course we paused, rested, checked maps and ate) We left at 21:00 arrived London at 09:00 without a sleep. It was a great experience…
Brilliant video. I did the LtoB 11 times, the last being probably 20 years ago! I used to only stop twice - at Turner's Hill and the top of the Beacon (which is a psychological battle). We used to end up at the Basketmaker's Arms in Gloucester Road for a few pints of Gales HSB. These days I do RideLondon-Essex 100. It does lack a big hill but I think you should do that next year.
Got such a soft spot for this race, it basically birthed my love for cycling - having never owned or indeed ridden a road bike before, I took part in 2021 with my workplace in memory of a colleague lost to leukaemia and raising money in his honour... Had to walk up Ditchling Beacon... dusted the bike off again this year and fell back in love, and two days ago completed my first 100k! (logged on Strava...obviously.) Celebrated with a Wout Van Aert albatross, because why not. All thanks to London to Brighton!
I met Simon at the finish. Lovely to chat with him. Disappointed he chose not to take me up on the offer to ride the Canyon back to London on the gravel route 🤪 Great effort guys!
