This is the best color grading video on RUclips. You shared so many things no one else is talking about. Thumbs up. I'm definitely watching all your videos, following and liking.
This is by far the sexiest grading I've seen in a while. I've wanted to understand how to manipulate density with granular control outside of the new color mixer. HSV is a new one for me too.
Hey cheers mate, I really appreciate that. Let me know if you'd like to see anything else. Working on some things about ISO and the original bmpcc. Thanks for watching.
Good job of spanning DaVinci tools and DCTL tools, which will, we think, come into their own more fully in the near future. AND glad to have the download option which allows us follow exactly on our own systems. So often one tries to replicate a grade with our own image but differences (often not obvious) make the exercise frustrating. Thanks!
great video thank you for the footage and also for the dctl, i do have a question though on the bottom right corner of the footage watching your video im getting pixelated or crushed blacks rather banding in blacks, is it same for everyone or is it just on my monitor if so is there a way to fix that?
Maybe just noise. Been a while since I've seen the footage. If you have the studio version you could try noise reduction. Cheers for the comment and watching
Great video! I'm curious as to the purpose of nodes 04, 06 and 08? I can see you've split the grade using a parallel node, but why? Does this effect the results?
Hey, good question. Without looking at the video I'd say they're there as secondary nodes. I like to keep my primary corrections (balance, sat, and exp) separate. This just helps to keep my work flow easy to understand. Secondary is usually power windows for exposure in parts of the frame etc
I didn't make it, but the new colour slicer tool is a great addition. The one I show does some things the colour slicer doesn't. So both are worth a look in. Cheers for the comment
@@GreenGoatProductions thanks for quick reply, however i have not clue how to use jpg file to check middle grey point on my graded clip, excuse my lack of knowledge please
What film do you think has amazing colour grading?
The Matrix. Not only it looks cool but it the grading complements the storytelling in a beautiful way.
@silverage9168 alright I'll have a look into it. Cheers for the comment

All for you buddy
very nicely explained..thanks for sharing

that density tool you've made, do you think color slice at Resolve 19 does that trick?
I didn't make it, but the new colour slicer tool is a great addition. The one I show does some things the colour slicer doesn't. So both are worth a look in. Cheers for the comment
great tutorial, question though : any idea how to add grey card in davinci resolve free version timeline, which doesnt support dtcl?
Cheers, I'm pretty sure you can get a grey card from Cullen Kelly's website that's a jpeg. Or you'd be able to find one with some Search on the webs
