Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I’m impressed with the fact that you did that trip in a Pinto. By the way, I like the paint scheme on your car, that’s excellent!!! I’ll be watching the videos that you posted as well.

I did the trip from Seattle to Coldfoot in 2018 also. I took a BMW r1200rt and ran into to much snow and had to go back. I still had the best time. Would love to try again

Thanks guys for the videos. I have the 2016 GSA and starting my planning. Looking at the videos, I don't see you carrying extra fuel. Assuming the GSA super tanker has enough fuel for the normal stops at Yukon and Coldfoot?

Thank you for your kind words. No, I did not stay at the arctic oil field hotel. To be honest with you right now I can’t remember where I stayed. And yes you can reference the videos that I posted, that won’t be a problem. Thank you for showing interested in those videos. Good luck with your blog.

Nice!! I especially enjoyed the raining portion of the trip where you were helping each other out. Is there anything you may have overdone or were not equipped for? I missed the date your adventure took place. I'll be heading up the 3rd week in August 2020 so any advice is certainly welcome. Thanks for the adventure while sitting in my kitchen chair for now!

We spent a year planning for this trip. We found out that you can’t over plan for a trip like this. There were trips that we took in previous years where we had acquired most of our gear. The one thing I bought for the trip was an inReach GPS by garmin. There is no cell service on the Dalton so if anything happens and you need services you’re going to have a tough time. Fortunately we never needed it. It was insurance however. Watch the weather up there . When the road are wet, the dirt roads become very slippery. We went up the Dalton the last week of July, first week of August. It is going to be an adventure! Good luck and have fun!!!

Make sure your off road skills are on-point. The last fifteen miles into Prudhoe is inches of loose rock that is constantly being laid down for road maintenance. Most who cash, crash here. The route up from the western part of the US is extremely straight forward. My first time up it seemed like another world to navigate, but since going back I can literally do it without map/GPS assistance (minus a few key turns). From Fairbanks it's almost impossible to get lost, but I sure many have. Lastly, leave home with a perfectly running machine. A tow from Prudhoe to Fairbanks is minimum 500USD, so a good tool and patch kit is a must. Have a great trip.

I left you a comment & question on your first video & may I say this is another excellent video. When I went in July of 2015 from Florida to Alaska I had alot of rain once in Alaska (other than that hardly a drop) & in researching I found that June usually has the best weather thus this year I'm going back in June. That being said its really hit & miss no matter when you go. Overall I believe you had excellent weather as the Dalton can be almost impassable at times of rain. May I ask if you carried extra gas & if so did you need it. As far as hotels in Deadhorse I going to pick the Prudhoe Bay Hotel as its clean, priced right & I believe it has free breakfast. The clerk said no need for res as they always have rooms. Again another inspiring video & how about that couple from England. What a trip they should have.

We did have good weather. Based upon some of the videos that I looked at the weather we dealt with was extremely good. We had some tough road conditions but not the kind of mud to which you were referring. Our bikes had 8 gallon gas tanks so we really didn’t have too much of a problem but since we were unfamiliar with the area and in some cases how much gas the bikes would burn, we each had an extra gallon on board just in case. Strangely enough we never needed to use the extra gas. We had reservations in Dead horse and cold foot. We didn’t want to take a chance on getting to our destinations and not having a place to stay. Most of the time on the rest of the trip we would wing it and would be successful but we didn’t want to do that going up the Dalton. I hope that you enjoy your trip and that you’re safe. I’d be interested in hearing your impressions considering this will be the second time for you.

@@jamesburgessiii5870 Again i appreciate all your information & knowledge. I don't blame you for making reservations on the Dalton as I was going to also but when speaking with the front desk people at both places they said there was no need to. The reason I may hold off is because I want the weather you had (ie) if I'm in Fairbanks & its raining heavy for two days on the Dalton I going to be staying in Fairbanks (yes I guess I'm a wussey) & wait a day before heading north. Add to that I'll be camping on some nights during my trip so I can always do that. Based on my research & your input I believe I'll have some Heidenau K60's put on at a Yamaha dealership in Whitehorse thus having them for the Top of the World Hwy & also the Dalton. I wish you the best & will try to remember to send you a note here upon my return in July.

We were using Klim Badlands jackets and pants which are waterproof. I had a pair of Held water proof gloves plus a pair of Klim light weight ventilated gloves. It would be helpful to have waterproof boots as well. Good luck on your trip to Alaska and have fun!

The whole trip took 7 weeks. We left on the 2nd of July and returned on around August 22. The leg up to Deadhorse from Fairbanks and back took 4 days and I think that was from July 30th to August 2nd. We stayed in Faribanks for one or two days more before we began the trek home.

@@24juan68 If you are traveling from Wisconsin be sure to have at least 6 weeks time any less than that you will be rushing to much. We are planning a return trip, possibly in 22 also. This trip I am planning on 3 months. On the Dalton take at least 4 days from Fairbanks, two up and two back. Again take your time and drive slowly. Although there are times we did the speed limit of 50mph, most of the time was 30 to 40. The road can go from silky smooth, to potholes and washboard without warning. Watch out for other traffic from behind and front. Pull over to let faster vehicles pass and Always slow down and pull over ,slow downand wave to aproching vehicles. The trucks always slowed down for me, other cars not so much. Watch all 9 of my Alaska videos to get more info. Have a safe and wonderful trip!
