      That's not true. Stop as Yield was never passed in CA. It's being voted in again soon after more data shows positive results in Delaware, but right now a bike is a car as far as CA law is concerned.

    Your video gave me my grin of the day, when my wife looked and asked "Is that Peter Parker, like in Spiderman?!?", and I answered "Yes... yes it is" 😁
    Best part about gears is making the pedals useful at more than just one speed, and being able to drop down to a low gears for steep hill climbing. For your shifter location problem, you may want to experiment by moving the shifter mount to the left of the thumb throttle, and rotating it upside down so the levers are over the throttle. You will have to get used to shifting all over, but it will give you your grip back, move your throttle and horn closer to your hand, and the levers won't interfere with the thumb throttle. Feel free to experiment with the positions, and even though I had to change my setup four times, I'm comfortable with it now. An alternative is going to a thumb-button shifter which often sits on top and is out of the way. Thanks for the video, and stay safe!

    I have the gears on my bike and moved the horn to the left side of the handlebar.
    Definitely helps to unclutter right hand side. Just a suggestion :)
    Also the gear levers, definitely see where you're coming from but I like their positioning for quick and easy gear changing, so I saw it as a pro, rather than a con.
    What I definitely see as a con is having the brake, gears and throttle controls next door to each other and take up a lot of real estate on your handlebar. So maybe a better throttle design needed by S73 to accommodate everything on the bars?

    • @thepeterparkershow
      @thepeterparkershow  3 года назад +2

      Good point I thought about doing a twist throttle instead of a thumb throttle to help with the space. I’ll do some more research on that.

    If your not going to be shifting up and down like a regular bike on a regular basis, a shifter like what is on a HImiway or Rad might work better. It's always a cluster getting all this stuff on a handlebar.

    • @Strugglin.on.YouTube
      @Strugglin.on.YouTube 3 года назад +3

      Yeah, I’d 2nd that from Peter.
      You won’t benefit any additional speed...
      (that is, other than what you power yourself with the mechanical advantage of the gearing).
      However, with the ease of pedaling, you can extend your batteries range depending on how efficiently you use the gears, along with what level pedal assist you use, and how much you pedal. It also helps a little when you realize n low on charge as you can downshift into easier gears.
      I find it beneficial personally, but to each their own. If you don’t ride super far, or super hard, or uphill, you’re probably fine without it.
      I’ve got the tools for the install and saved the money from bringing it to a shop, but it’s not recommended for the average consumer to install.
      I deviated from the installation instructions to make the handlebar set up in a way that works better for me and it is just about as good as I could think to get it. The “Ten kit speed” 😜 works great for me and my ride style.
      I love it!

    Common Peter, shifters are not that bad, how you loose control on the grips? All mountain bikes have gears and those bikes need 10.000 times more control on the steam than bike like that, all this evolutions, jumps downhill rides and all with shifters on the stim. You can still move shifters more to the left and put throttle between grip and shifter. And then you can change gear from there coz you will do it not really often. Shifters on my bike are much smaller and they starts where grip is finish.

    That's why you paid so much Peter you bought it from super 73 honestly you could have used any one they sell with the kits they hardly cost anything. I don't know why people think they have to buy from the manufacturer, it's no different and most likely super 73 gets them from the same Chinese manufacturer they all come from and put their branding on them or none at all. Trust me you didn't need to buy from them. that's ridiculous bro and I'm sorry their robbing people twice for something that should have came with their expensive over priced bikes in the first place. This isn't a bash on you man but Super 73 are some rip off bikes. there's tons of cheaper bikes that are so much better and cheaper than them anyway. Just like any brand name thing. I phones for instance aren't nearly the best phone in the world but look what they charge. unbelievable I just looked up a 7speed cassette on Amazon by Shimano which is just about on every other ebike out there, 22bucks bro 22 bucks Fk Super 73! if you paid 22$ you wouldn't be so unhappy about it

      At the time the 10 speed kits couldn’t be found anywhere online. There was a super high demand on them. I looked online and checked bike stores and they all told me that they were waiting for their restock. In fact, when the gears came out on s73 website they were never back in stock after that. I know i paid more for it but at least I got a kit. A lot of people didn’t have the same luck. Now I’m sure you can find them easily but at the time it was in really high demand. It’s a bummer but you live and you learn I guess.

    I know is 1 year after but I saw few 10 speed videos and cant stop smiling from how for you guys in America problematic is changing gears and even having multiple geared bicycle. In Europe almost all bicycles have multiple gears with shifters or grip shifts and have bicycle without is just strange. I know some of you will say that in EU there no throttles in bicycles and only pedal assist but this is not true, there a lot of bikes that have both even if law says different. Its standard there and even little kids know how to use it. And we have no problems with steam coz you can always buy wider one. And if you have shifter, handle and break on right side than horn move to left side and display bit to the right. For sure shifter is more important for me than horn which in Europe is kind a rude thing to blow on another people a front of you. Display actually is less important than any else stuff on the stim and can landed even on the middle of steam.
