I used to own a 1992 US market 164-S with the 12-valve 3.0 litre engine in black with the tan leather interior. Mine also had the factory spoiler and the older-style telefone dial wheels. What a marvelous machine it was... It was so difficult to keep the black looking good, and this was in the days before ceramic waxes... That first hour after a wash and detail was magic to behold... And such a good driver's car. We parted ways when the rear subframe rust was becoming critical and I lost my job in the 2008 depression. She had a little over 400k miles on her then, sadly I know she didn't survive long after I sold it for money to fix the clutch in my 2000 Toyota Corolla. I miss it still. It's nice to see this one looking so good.

That's beautiful, great work - I know it may already be in hand, but please check that the camblet's been done; as the owner of a couple of V6s, those belts don't go the service distance, especially when they're aged.

I owned a 12V one of these Cloverleafs in black with a matching rear Zender spoiler whilst living in Redditch during the 1990's, then a 1995 24V in Rosso from 1998. The centre of the wheels should be silver, and better for it TBH. Pity the twin tailpipe couldn't be retained. I bought two systems from Alfa Romeo as they were not available aftermarket in the day. What paint was used to renew the rear Zender side skirt? That original paint was quite thick and tough I seem to remember.

Hi thanks so much for the comment , I can see your knowledge on these is way above mine !!! I matched the paint on the bottom plastic sections as the rear section had been repaired and it completely crack off looking utterly terrible. Not ideal but I didn't want to strip the delicate plastics. Match was near perfect. I couldnt quite get the wheel match I wanted , and no one would refurb them so we cut the face on a lathe , drilled out the old fake bolts and replaced with replicas.... Unfortunately no one could give me the ideal perfect match to the original. Badges were replaced also but slightly differed , most of all it was amazing to bring this back the life .... One thing to note to me the car felt pretty undriveable with the clutch , very very stiff and tiny travel.

@@topwrapzltd yes, I had the 24V fake split rim wheels refurbed with new bolt heads in the early 2000's as the lacquer peeled badly. The 12V wheels were far superior IMO. Sadly across many cars the newer parts don't quite match the originals. NOS is the way to go if you've the time and money to track them down. Incidentally, the clutches were always very heavy. Pals often commented on it, but I was used to heavy clutches on my other car, a classic 1960's sports car. The brakes on the 24V were very soft too, but worked fine with a firm press. I wish I'd kept mine, but it developed another leak on the rear manifold and I decided to trade it in. It was as good as this black one in late 2004.
