Wow that's such a great bunch of fly tying. Thanks again for your help 🎣🤠. When I take some of your stuff to the fly shop the guys think it's definitely cool 😎. Puts a spin on teaching an old dog new tricks. I'm the youngest one of the group at 70. Thanks again for all the good tips 🤠 Dave Hughes 🎣
Nice instructional video. I just tied my best wool head ever on a Silk Kitty, without your instructional vids I would have continued to struggle. Keep them coming I look forward to each new one and thank you.
You give me a ton of ideas to improve current flies that I tie and flies to try every time I watch these. I think the fuzzy fiber head would perfect the nearnuff sculpin!!!
Great tip with the double thread bump.Excellent sex dungeon head tutorial. The Geezer is a great fly, have had good sucess with it. Articulated, even better. This is a great series you have going here, Gunnar.
at the 9 minute mark when you start talking about those under-over wraps, there's actually a technical term for that. it's called frapping, they are cross-wraps to tighten a lashing, and they are the hella important. not terribly useful information, but sometimes its fun to be nerdy with technical terminoligy
Here's a question. My home river has single hook restrictions. Should I articulate with the ready made articulated shanks or could I simply tie my back hook like normal and then simply clip the hook at the bend. And if I can just clip the hook should I use a heavier wire hook than I would on a normal double hook articulating fly. Thanks.
Great insight. How about a lesson on various fish heads? Thanks for changing up my game. This is a new style of fishing in my area and everyone I see on the river laughs when they see me throwing 6 inch + streamers. But let Lately I have the last laugh. Cheers
Right on, a lot of those heads will be featured in Part 4 for Jig flies. Unfortunately I haven't ever trie Drop Jaws or Spawn Heads, but I'll give a run down on most of Flymens products in the next vid.
Hey Gunnar, Beautiful head! I'm impressed. That's why others pay you for flies. You do tie them really well. I looked for Pat Cohen's DVD series. Couldn't find it. I did find individual DVD's but not a series. If you have a retailer that sells them as a series please send me the link when you have time. You have so much information in your video's you should consider writing a book. I have to watch them several times to get the information and then re-watch when I want to tie a streamer. Question 1: Do you use a stacked deer hair head to control density? I mean as opposed to spinning. (Love Primo strips.) Question 2: Do you ever use sculpin wool? I have some Frankenfly Monster dubbing but I have lots of sculpin wool. Question 3: Do you have a video on how you made the body of the wool head streamer? All the best, Sean
I believe it's one that gets motion from the angler stripping; the design causes the fly to "swim" side to side. Watch his last video for a descritpion.

By fish heads I meant the various type of weighted and plastic heads available in stores.

When you are restricted to one hook would you put on the head or tail section of the articulating fly ?

Anyone know if laser dub would work for a wool style head?
Very good instructiones!
Very very good.
Another gem
What is a jerk fly exactly?
