In the episode you can see Kelleran pick up the blue lightsaber in the elevator from the fallen Jedi, so he had only the green saber prior. could be that during the siege he lost the purple saber or just a change done to differentiate him from Mace Windu which some people who don't know Kelleran's character, may have just been seen as a recast of Mace. Mandalorian is targeted at a wide audience so trying to stop confusion would be a main goal, and if that means to change a saber colour for the sake of not confusing the wider audience, it is a change they are most likely willing to make. Or as you said there maybe another completely different reason for the lake of a purple saber. Nonetheless great Episode this week, and great video on Kelleran.
As far as him losing the purple one, it wouldn’t be surprising if it was simply lost during the fighting of Order 66 at the Temple (before we see him at the elevator’s opening). Maybe he ran into Anakin, lost it, and was forced to fall back. I love these flashback scenes so much lol.
I like this choice. Mace Windu never really made sense to me. I know he's Mace Windu, Jedi Master on the council and pretty much one of the most powerful Jedi, but Order 66 happens like 5 minutes after he gets his hand chopped of, electrocuted with Sith lightning, and yeeted off of a skyscraper.

Honestly, they should’ve created a 45 minute episode just about grogus day in the temple leading up to anakins March. That would be amazing. Disney definitely didn’t think of that
My headcanon is that he was so overwhelmed with fending off the clones while evacuating Grogu that his purple lightsabers had been knocked off, so he just picked up two random lightsabers from one of the dead bodies around him to get the job done
They didn't do purple because we didn't need filthy casuals asking if they recast Mace Windu. And anyone that wants Mace to have been the one to save Grogu, know by this point Mace has had his arm taken and has been tossed off the 23423rd story window in a....shocking, turn of events.
Finally people who aren't complaining about Grogu not being saved by Yoda or Palpatine trying to capture Grogu or something. Like we got some BIG REALLY good fan service here and people are STILL complaining! I really like this Jedi hope we will see more of him!
He made the purple lightsaber after his padawas got slaughtered. It’s that easy to figure out. He evacuated Grogu and then made the purple saber, almost falling to the darkside because of what happened during Knightfall
I personally hope one day he gets to have his animated debut in Clone Wars style like in another season of Tales of the Jedi or a spin-off novel of him
I’d like to think that maybe he had lost his lightsaber along the way of trying to escape the temple, since the scene with grogu getting off the elevator, his lightsaber was already lit. That might mean he was already fighting before escaping the temple with grogu.

Anybody else think, ironically enough, a Temple Challenge-esque show sounds like it could easily surround Kelleran Beq's missing purple saber in a Legends of the Hidden Temple kinda way? Your champion's trophy, I guess.
Loving the throwbacks to sleek prequel Naboo ships in The Mandalorian. Various Naboo starships were always among my favourite ships in the prequels. Maybe the Mandalorian takes us back to the planet Naboo as well?
I really hope that in the next Cal Kestis game we get a mention of Kelleran joining The Path and continuing to care for lost and hunted children
U know what would be cool if there is a cameo of him in Jedi Survivor. Him using Jarkai was badass.
the best part of the serie!
Could be As Simple As it being damaged already and Him Having to Take others
At least one of those two lightsabres he picks up off the floor of the elevator Grogu is in.
Good tidings of comfort and job was a surprise
This BEGS the question... Why was there such a concerted effort to make sure Grogu escaped the Jedi Temple?
“George, give me the purple light”
He’s gotta be Jolee Bindo’s great great great great great great great grandson. He looks just like him
Love the choice of Beq, the fact he has one each, green and blue has a story behind it i bet.
Honestly, they should’ve created a 45 minute episode just about grogus day in the temple leading up to anakins March. That would be amazing. Disney definitely didn’t think of that
Ahmed Best is living up to his last name. That was cool.
My headcanon is that he was so overwhelmed with fending off the clones while evacuating Grogu that his purple lightsabers had been knocked off, so he just picked up two random lightsabers from one of the dead bodies around him to get the job done
I love this explanation, extremely plausible
He is probably the one Jedi who is in charge of the Path in Kenobi. He an Quinlan are saving younglings
Why the Christmas music?
Maybe his purple lightsaber was damaged in fight earlier and he simply...looted jedi corpses for weapons. 😅
Or he dropped it.
KID: mum, can we get mace wind action figure?
MUM: we have mace windu at home...
- mace windu at home
He took everyone by surprise.
I honestly thought that was mace windu😂
I wanna see more Kelleran Beq 🔥
I knew it! Jar jar is a sith lord!
He only had one lightsaber until the lift door opened, he picked the other one up off the dead Jedi.
They didn't do purple because we didn't need filthy casuals asking if they recast Mace Windu.
And anyone that wants Mace to have been the one to save Grogu, know by this point Mace has had his arm taken and has been tossed off the 23423rd story window in a....shocking, turn of events.
When that door opened and you could only see the skin color, I know many first thoughts were Windu.
Finally people who aren't complaining about Grogu not being saved by Yoda or Palpatine trying to capture Grogu or something. Like we got some BIG REALLY good fan service here and people are STILL complaining!
I really like this Jedi hope we will see more of him!
This Jedi reminded me so much of Mace Windu due to how similar both characters are. Almost looks like Kelleran Beq could easily be his son lol
is it Christmas time already?? what's with the background music?
Even with a purple lightsaber I would have recognized him from the Jedi Temple Trials from his face alone.
RIP to those Padawans on the game show
He made the purple lightsaber after his padawas got slaughtered. It’s that easy to figure out. He evacuated Grogu and then made the purple saber, almost falling to the darkside because of what happened during Knightfall
Purple sabers have nothing to do with the dark side. That’s a fan theory. Not lore. I wish RUclips channels would stop pushing that as fact
I personally hope one day he gets to have his animated debut in Clone Wars style like in another season of Tales of the Jedi or a spin-off novel of him
I knew it because i watched jedi temple challenge before watching episode 4 of mandalorian season 3 and also this is perfect like 10/10
10/10 would watch that episode was sweet
I’d like to think that maybe he had lost his lightsaber along the way of trying to escape the temple, since the scene with grogu getting off the elevator, his lightsaber was already lit. That might mean he was already fighting before escaping the temple with grogu.
reminds me of Jolee Bindo....Unorthodox Jedi and Bald 😁
He was the host of a kids tv show.... Oh disney you never fail to impress me in bad ways. But anyways, its nice to see Ahmed Best in a role like this.
Kelleran Beq. He is one of the greatest Jedi ever. Kelleran Beq is a student of the FORCE. A teacher to the youth. A Master of the Blade.
The Sabered Hand Lives!!
I’m gonna be honest if we’re gonna be seeing more of him in the Mandalorian I wouldn’t mind a mini series showing him as a Jedi General in the clone wars
It was the actor who played jarjar and he has gotten the perfect redemption becoming a jedi master.
I'm almost positive he doesn't have a purple lightsaber becasue the show wasn't confident that their casual fans would know that he wasn't Mace Windu.
