Great & chill insight. I think one thing I think and it’s similar to your thoughts is that riding motorcycles puts you in “the here and now” instead of the past or future. It’s truly a way to live in the moment and see, smell, hear, and feel perspectives we wouldn’t otherwise.
Besides what you said. Exploring and discovering new places... food.. Being able to get around cars in traffic and not even lane splitting per se. Finding parking. Girls wanting rides.
Although not many girls want to ride with me... not sure why, they don't see my face after all :) no parking problems and laughing at traffic jams are real things saving riders tons of hours, otherwise spent in car or public transport.
In its own way, it has helped with my ptsd and being able to find others to ride with has kind of gave me a sense of camaraderie again like I had in the military. It also helped me appreciate the smaller things in life... things that most people don't realize like the sensation of riding on a hot day but getting small pockets of cool air when riding... something that, although brief, is satisfying. Being able to just feel free. When I am riding, all problems just fade away. It's not only therapeutic but can be meditative in a way. It forces me to get out (which you covered) but it has helped me break out of my shell. *The more I ride, the more I wanna get out, and the more I get out, the more people I wanna meet.* I had to make that bold because although I just thought of it, I feel that sentence describes it perfectly for me
Absolutely! I can say i get depressed in the winter months when i can't ride, to the point where it'll affect my mood and I'll lose interest in doing the daily things I like to do but I always snap out of it and I stop feeling bad for myself realizing I'm being a little puke because I can't have my way when there are people out there who would give anything to not be blind for just one minute or even walk for only a day. Anyway, real life and I'm blessed to be able to enjoy another J'sMG film.
Man, I have to watch bikers riding the epic, sunny US highways to survive a winter with a mind intact... (living in Europe where usually 3 to 5 months are out of game). That's why Jon's stuff works for me.
Freedom. That ancient feeling that you can go anywhere, anytime, just modern era version. Of course I know: got to earn the licence, got to dress up, got to fill the tank, stick to tarmac roads for most bikes... sure. But that thousand(s) years ago you'd still have to catch a mustang, learn how to ride it, take care of it and feed it :) so I'll say there are still shadows or traces of that true old school feeling of freedom, going where you want and how you want. A bit pompous words maybe but that's how I see it. Started to ride out of pure practicality issues, and that evolved through hobby into real passion. Just find a bike that fits you, experiment with different types, there's a chance that one day it simply "clicks". My humble advice: don't avoid type of bike not on your radar generally, give it a try, ask a friend etc. I've never considered a sportbike, and how surprising it was to find my ass most comfortable on this type! I don't even ride very fast, sh&t scares me too much, but the dynamics and agility are different story and sports take it to another level. Accelerating like afterburning jet fighter and decelerating with unholy physics-questioning rates. Probably the best way to spend, even waste money on. Drop drinking, smoking, gambling, and get you that nice machine that has always attracted your attention but there is always some "not yet, maybe later, some day". Do stupid stuff like wheelies on a Harley (just kidding, no one does that).
Hahaha! Great words, my friend! Thanks for sharing! I agree 100%! There are so many bikes I swore I would never ride that are either sitting in my garage now, or are on my dream list. Lol. IT's pretty awesome that we have so many options and choices available. Like you and the sport bike, you never know until you try it out. I'm still trying to get my hands on a kawasaki concours. I hear great things about those. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I could'nt agree more👌 Yes you can add more to the list but it's a great start. The funny in your list is that I feal exactly the same about snowmobile riding! But I think on the other hand that it's the same just in diffrent seasons👍
I can believe it! Mountain biking does the same thing for me as well as some other activities. I think the key is getting outside and getting the endorphins pumping! Nothing like the natural "high"! hahaha!
I'd be so upset if I landed in that water 😅 and all these things are true. No matter how upset I am or stressed. The second I swing my leg over a machine with two wheels and I have a instant smile again.
Dig it still. Been awhile since I've commented, but still dig it. 1. Yep! 2. Abso-friggin'-lutely! 3. Sure. Don't do it much, but I'm in the minority there. Definitely online bridges though. 4. Indeed...48 and still learning a ton. 5. Amen brother. The ride I took this past Friday (posted it on my channel...a channel I'm not trying to grow, just storing some footage) covers 4 of your 5. Check it out if you get a minute. Great fall leaves, canyon riding, dirt and pavement, up Spanish Fork Canyon. BTW, I swear i saw your van in SF Utah this past Saturday. If not, it could've passed for you. Anyway, great content continually. Best...SNAPP
As the Winter Is Coming (tm) here, I will surely watch your footages when in need of sunshine and moto engine sounds within a month or two, when mine would be hibernated :-)
Thanks, brotha! I ended up selling the van (long story, lol), so it is possible that you saw the new owners trucking through Utah on their way to Yellowstone. It's hard to beat some of those scenic routes up in Utah! Beautiful country!
Honestly, I wake up in the mornings , in Ireland. It could be lashing rain outside and pitch black at 7am. I have my coffee and jump on my bike and just start my day with a burst of adrenaline and happiness. Passing all the cars stuck in traffic and getting to work wide awake. I cannot imagine life any other way.
Ebike are even more fun because of all the grey area behind them I'd recommend everyone get one before they get a motorcycle Because I kid you not when people see my super 73 most people will just automatically assume that it's a motorcycle and what's crazy is it technically could be if I added an extra battery and then I could easily reach up to 75 but honestly I don't like using a helmet so keeping it under 35 is perfect I also have a soft tail Harley but nothing turns eyes more then when you look like you're on a motorcycle and you're able to maneuver around traffic cut through the side walks and even give a girl a ride just as long as she's sitting in the front so she can't accidently mess up your whole steering if she starts freaking out
I ride because is therapeutic, the feeling of freedom and just being in the moment without any distractions! Also its seems to be good form of excercise because when im back home i feel exhausted and im more hungry :D Especially when i ride on highway, i have mt-07 so from time to time its really demanding to control the bike because of the wind resisntace.
Hey man just needed a little help on something, I found a 2016 street bob club styled out for 12,500 and I was thinking about pulling the trigger but wasn’t sure if I’m getting a good deal
Let me practice it/dial down the method and then I'll do a how-to. There's a super moto dude who did an awesome drifting tutorial and he recommends practicing ghe skid/turn thing first.
Hey Jon! While back I commented asking about some of the accessories and parts for the dyna and whether or not it would fit on the low rider s. I ended up going with the Low rider S instead of the street glide. I was wanting to get it into a club style look, any suggestions in what companies I should look into?
I would jump on instagram and follow some of the dyna and fxdls pages. You can check out tons o super rad builds and see what part people have used. The nice thing is you have tons of options these days for the Dyna builds. Congrats on the new ride!
Hey bro, I got some updates...Crashed my Valkyrie, posted the crash to my channel. Also, because that big pig of a bike almost killed me, I had to replace it with something much safer, a ZX14R :), posted..
Great & chill insight. I think one thing I think and it’s similar to your thoughts is that riding motorcycles puts you in “the here and now” instead of the past or future. It’s truly a way to live in the moment and see, smell, hear, and feel perspectives we wouldn’t otherwise.
Well said! It puts you in the moment, if not for just a moment. Hahaha! Profound!
It keeps my reflexes and mind sharp. After riding for 43 years only flying is comparable, but only flying low!
I've heard similar things about flying! For now, the only flying I do is the occasional jump off the roof. hahaha!

Mind your "landing gear", as you don't want to get hurt.
Besides what you said.

Yupp!
X2 on that comment 👍

Well said, brotha! It's easy to fall into the depths of despair. But you point out just how good we--well, most of us--have it. 🤘😎
Man, I have to watch bikers riding the epic, sunny US highways to survive a winter with a mind intact... (living in Europe where usually 3 to 5 months are out of game). That's why Jon's stuff works for me.
Unless its snowing, Im still riding.

Natural born adrenaline junky🤘😂
Agreed. A great sense of freedom! I love the smells of the flowers, trees and bacon frying.
Freedom sums it up perfectly!

Number two for sure. Life saver. But that’s a whole mother story that I may share one day.
Definitely! Life save and makes you feel alive! Amazing how it works! I'll stay tuned for your story some day! Ride safe, MTM-DM!

Im a rider myself and I strongly agree with everything he said on this video, I gotta go out and ride right now.
Great video Jon, 100% agree with you and cycle therapy is life changing.
Thanks, brotha! Nothing like two wheels and the open road!
