They definitely showed their love and dedication. The only hitch could be if they're required to work under a massively reduced timescale/ deadline. 8 years allows a lot of freedom, but say 12 months could be lot different. They still deserve a chance at some position, within an established company. Regards! God bless
I've been a long time fan of SoR, so SoRR was phenomenal to me. The amount of dedication along with the bells and whistles the team did for this game is still unmatched by any re release done today. Some companies finally re release their titles by slapping on a filter and calling it a day. This was a straight up love letter to the franchise by the fans for the fans and franchise. Companies should really appreciate that decades after release, the game still resonates with fans so much that they create communities and dedicate time into creating new experiences along with at times, fixing what was broken. I've come to admire modding/rom hacking/homebrew as an art form within an art form of gaming be it from the Sonic rom hacking scene to Doom Wads and even mods for Skyrim or Fallout. Streets of Rage Remake is an ode to the franchise by fans. As much as I understand that this is an IP belonging to a corporation, if I actually created something that resonated a lot with people that years from now, they took what I created and did more to/for/ or inspired from it, I'd be flattered and elated. If anything, projects like Streets of Rage Remake and the communities should clue in to these corporations that there is still a market for their old IPs.
The music remixes are great, I've posted some guitar jams over Fuse and New Wave on my channel. But there's so much great work that I always want to do more. Man, I have a version from 10 years ago. I gotta update this thing.
Honestly, SoR:Remake ruined SoR4 for me. I still enjoyed 4 a lot but the Remake didn't treat SoR3 like it never happened like 4 does. I much better enjoyed the star upgrade system of three than the star specials of 4. I also like the dodge roll and run tat is missing from 4 unless you play as an SoR3 character. The remake didn't just include these but made them better and included the police screen nuke from SoR1 so you even get that. Whats more Sor:Remake includes hidden paths and exits in each stage that makes repeat plays more fun as you can choose a multitude of paths to finish the game, where SoR4 is straight forward. Not saying 4 isn't good but 4 clearly wanted to feel like a sequel to SoR2 rather than SoR3 and the Remake feels like a sequel to SoR3. Taking what it did to advance the series and fixing what it did wrong rather than pretending it didn't happen.
You forgot to mention that various old skool Sega staff members who praised Streets of Rage Remake before the final release including Yuzo Koshiro. There were many different versions released over the years until Sega forced them to stop. What infuriated the fan base was that Sega staff knew and praised the previous versions that were all available to download and play. We waited years for Bombergames to release the 'final' version as they didnt want to keep going back fixing bugs and adding extras. They showed screenshots every few weeks teasing its development and features that would be the final version and then when it was released BOOM......Sega forced them to stop after 8 years of hard work. People were furious at Sega. Even non gamer friends were telling me about it as it appeared on BBC news. I was shocked to hear that a fangame would be on the news as one of the main topics. A FANGAME..........not even an official title. Goes to show how much people love Streets of Rage I guess......😁
This is simply the best Sor game out there. With 8 different endings. Different routes to choose. All classic music tracks or remastered ones. (choice is yours). It eats Sor4 for breakfast. And also you can download custom levels/adventures or create your own.
the reason I heard for the C&D was actually because of the game's artwork. While the devs asserted they had hand-recreated the graphics they hadn't documented the process, and the graphics themselves are so accurate to the original they could have been simply ripped from the rom
Shame they got rid of the scanline feature on this update… also theres another remake in the works that offers 6 of the characters but with way more complexities… combos cancels supers moves etc… i wont mention the name here tho but it is coming along incredibly dope and that one actually keeps scanline features if youre into that

Dude never knew about streets of rage remake. I’m a big beat em up fan and streets of rage four is the game that got me to love. Beat em up it easily sits in my top five favorite games that I’ve ever played and to me. Definitely the best beat them up I’ve ever played. The music is unmatched the gameplay so fun the characters just from the soundtrack alone. I know these guys put so much love into the project, definitely have to check this out
I am a huge, huge fan of SORR. However I do not consider 5.2 an improvement over 5.1. They made a lot of questionable changes to the i-frames and tweaked certain routes for the worse. The motorcycle bridge length was shortened and jet ski areas changed for the worse in my opinion. The default difficulty in 5.1 felt very much like SOR2 which is good since even though forgiving that game was fairly scalable. Version 5.2 feels much closer to SoR3 which is not a good comparison. The fubar difficulty of SoR3 in the American version was one of the main reasons that game bombed vs. the second installment. Also I think some of the newer remixes of the OST are inferior. Listen to the Stage 1 "Up and Up" or "Beatnik on the ship" tracks.

Polygon games were ugly and even though they were my childhood, they play like crap today 🫤 I go back to Megadrive and SNES I’ve PS1 any day. The Saturn was good because it had some incredible 2d games and the best home port of Street Fighter Alpha 2 👌🔥 SOR is the greatest Sega franchise of all time 🙏🏻🖤
for me the best streets of rage fangame and a concept not tried nearly enough in games is playing as the enemies, streets of rage syndicate war gives a giant roster of characters to play as unlocking most of the games enemies and even bosses to play as. to me its easily the best streets of rage game.
I do have good news for those hoping this game gets ported. It’s old news actually, and I’m not talking about in physical form but the game is already being worked on to be playable on the mini consoles. I have already talked to those good folks about it on Discord. For those of you saying it’s not possible don’t even try it! They already got Sonic Mania up and running on the mini consoles and Final Fight LNS up and running well on the mini consoles. Two games that people thought wouldn’t be possible. So look forward to playing this one in the future on your Genesis/MD Mini! That’s the mini I will be playing it on.

@@georgiivanov6207 USB-Host. It's not my opinion it's what is actually happening. You see when trying to fit games on the system that have a high memory on the mini classics like Sega CD, PS1, etc external storage is needed. 1 Sega CD game is too large to fit on the system itself. I have a thumb drive that has about 18 Sega CD games running on my Genesis Mini. You can use a larger external storage and fit the entire Sega CD collection on there. If the memory is your worry that is the least of your worries. All you have to do is a little bit of research.

I don't know if you muted me because it just sounds too unbelievable to you or what but let me just explain this. USB-Host is the answer you are looking for. If memory is what you're worried about then that should be the least of your memories. The Mini systems once jailbroken with the latest hakchi ce software allow for external storage. So you can use an otg cable and hook up a thumb drive, SD card or external hard drive to it for more storage to play games that are too large to fit on the system itself. So you can play N64, PS1, Dreamcast games etc. Look....1 Sega CD game is actually too large to fit on the system itself. I have 18 Sega CD games running on my Genesis Mini through the USB-Host. Streets of Rage Remake is being optimized for the Mini systems as we speak. This is not an opinion it is a fact right now.
I would love to see SOR4/BKIV Adam Hunter, Cherry Hunter,, SOR4/BKIV Shiva, Floyd Iraya, SOR4/BKIV Max Thunder, and Estel all added to V5.3 of Streets of Rage Remake sometime. Also, Elle can have alternate Nora (SOR1/BKI), Electra (SOR3/BKIII), and Nora (SOR4/BKIV) skins added to herself as well.
Mechanically yes absolutely! It included comboesque moves, the likes of which were recently established in Street Fighter II. That innovation made it deeper than it's contemporaries.
REMAKE remains the ultimate fan game for me, but I don't consider it perfect by any means. The artificial intelligence of this game is one of the biggest tragedies, which takes it too far from the originals. The other problems are mainly related to the limitation of the possibilities of a sormaker. I've never understood why anyone would encrypt and limit their system to such an extent that it leaves you completely with a few rudimentary options that don't allow you to develop your game modding abilities. It is this approach that has currently left the entire sor community at a dead end without the ability to do anything more revolutionary to their mods. I've been working on sormaker for years even though I've never released my mods publicly and never registered with the original modding site. I can say that these limitations make things too monotonous and impossible to create something original or revolutionary. Let's be honest. None of the people who are members of this forum are there for the original version of the game, rather they are there to model and create new mods and games. And if someone doesn't hack the original source code and allow more usage options, it's quite possible that in another year or so, it will completely collapse. To be honest, and unfortunately, I think that this kind of thing is starting to get pretty clear in the forums.
It is actually through Winlator. With that I'm able to play SORR and even other pc only games right on my Shield TV with a ps4 controller. Android only I believe though.
I still prefer SoR Remake over SoR4. The game is not bad at all but all i see is a SoR 2.5 since they acted like SoR3 never existed. I'm not saying that SoR3 is the better of the original series but it brought so many welcome changes to the core gameplay... When you make a sequel you have to take in account ALL the good things that was already in the original series and not let nostalgia taking over...

Ash was a horribly designed character, as well as was a horrible character overall. Also, if there is a V5.3 of Streets of Rage Remake, then the Streets of Rage 4/Bare Knuckle IV stages, enemies, bosses, items, weapons, and OSTs need to be added, along with Harakiri and Ringmaster (albeit a much larger version of him with more moves as well) from the other Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle games, all need to be added, as well as the enemy and character editor from V4 of Streets of Rage Remake, complete with custom sprite, as well as custom background, creation as well.

This is simply the best Sor game out there. With 8 different endings. Different routes to choose. All classic music tracks or remastered ones. (choice is yours). It eats Sor4 for breakfast. And also you can download custom levels/adventures or create your own.
The amount of work and love put into this is astounding. I wonder where I can donate to them. Also, another solid video!
the reason I heard for the C&D was actually because of the game's artwork. While the devs asserted they had hand-recreated the graphics they hadn't documented the process, and the graphics themselves are so accurate to the original they could have been simply ripped from the rom

Shame they got rid of the scanline feature on this update… also theres another remake in the works that offers 6 of the characters but with way more complexities… combos cancels supers moves etc… i wont mention the name here tho but it is coming along incredibly dope and that one actually keeps scanline features if youre into that

i have Beats of Rage as well as SORR V5, 5.1 and 5.2, as i play scenarios that other people made for both those games.
I didn't have the chance to play the first game, my cousin had the second game and I played it every time we had a sleepover.
Dude never knew about streets of rage remake. I’m a big beat em up fan and streets of rage four is the game that got me to love. Beat em up it easily sits in my top five favorite games that I’ve ever played and to me. Definitely the best beat them up I’ve ever played. The music is unmatched the gameplay so fun the characters just from the soundtrack alone. I know these guys put so much love into the project, definitely have to check this out
I am a huge, huge fan of SORR. However I do not consider 5.2 an improvement over 5.1. They made a lot of questionable changes to the i-frames and tweaked certain routes for the worse. The motorcycle bridge length was shortened and jet ski areas changed for the worse in my opinion. The default difficulty in 5.1 felt very much like SOR2 which is good since even though forgiving that game was fairly scalable. Version 5.2 feels much closer to SoR3 which is not a good comparison. The fubar difficulty of SoR3 in the American version was one of the main reasons that game bombed vs. the second installment. Also I think some of the newer remixes of the OST are inferior. Listen to the Stage 1 "Up and Up" or "Beatnik on the ship" tracks.

for me the best streets of rage fangame and a concept not tried nearly enough in games is playing as the enemies, streets of rage syndicate war gives a giant roster of characters to play as unlocking most of the games enemies and even bosses to play as. to me its easily the best streets of rage game.
Play as Mr. X, joining the gang temporaly after his robotic clone kicked him out 💀
I do have good news for those hoping this game gets ported. It’s old news actually, and I’m not talking about in physical form but the game is already being worked on to be playable on the mini consoles. I have already talked to those good folks about it on Discord. For those of you saying it’s not possible don’t even try it! They already got Sonic Mania up and running on the mini consoles and Final Fight LNS up and running well on the mini consoles. Two games that people thought wouldn’t be possible. So look forward to playing this one in the future on your Genesis/MD Mini! That’s the mini I will be playing it on.
I just don't understand how a game with such huge memory and content can possibly fit on a Genesis and MD Mini but you're still entitled to your opinion.
@@georgiivanov6207 USB-Host. It's not my opinion it's what is actually happening. You see when trying to fit games on the system that have a high memory on the mini classics like Sega CD, PS1, etc external storage is needed. 1 Sega CD game is too large to fit on the system itself. I have a thumb drive that has about 18 Sega CD games running on my Genesis Mini. You can use a larger external storage and fit the entire Sega CD collection on there. If the memory is your worry that is the least of your worries. All you have to do is a little bit of research.

I don't know if you muted me because it just sounds too unbelievable to you or what but let me just explain this. USB-Host is the answer you are looking for. If memory is what you're worried about then that should be the least of your memories. The Mini systems once jailbroken with the latest hakchi ce software allow for external storage. So you can use an otg cable and hook up a thumb drive, SD card or external hard drive to it for more storage to play games that are too large to fit on the system itself. So you can play N64, PS1, Dreamcast games etc. Look....1 Sega CD game is actually too large to fit on the system itself. I have 18 Sega CD games running on my Genesis Mini through the USB-Host. Streets of Rage Remake is being optimized for the Mini systems as we speak. This is not an opinion it is a fact right now.

I would love to see SOR4/BKIV Adam Hunter, Cherry Hunter,, SOR4/BKIV Shiva, Floyd Iraya, SOR4/BKIV Max Thunder, and Estel all added to V5.3 of Streets of Rage Remake sometime. Also, Elle can have alternate Nora (SOR1/BKI), Electra (SOR3/BKIII), and Nora (SOR4/BKIV) skins added to herself as well.

Mechanically yes absolutely! It included comboesque moves, the likes of which were recently established in Street Fighter II. That innovation made it deeper than it's contemporaries.

REMAKE remains the ultimate fan game for me, but I don't consider it perfect by any means. The artificial intelligence of this game is one of the biggest tragedies, which takes it too far from the originals. The other problems are mainly related to the limitation of the possibilities of a sormaker. I've never understood why anyone would encrypt and limit their system to such an extent that it leaves you completely with a few rudimentary options that don't allow you to develop your game modding abilities. It is this approach that has currently left the entire sor community at a dead end without the ability to do anything more revolutionary to their mods. I've been working on sormaker for years even though I've never released my mods publicly and never registered with the original modding site. I can say that these limitations make things too monotonous and impossible to create something original or revolutionary. Let's be honest. None of the people who are members of this forum are there for the original version of the game, rather they are there to model and create new mods and games. And if someone doesn't hack the original source code and allow more usage options, it's quite possible that in another year or so, it will completely collapse. To be honest, and unfortunately, I think that this kind of thing is starting to get pretty clear in the forums.

It is actually through Winlator. With that I'm able to play SORR and even other pc only games right on my Shield TV with a ps4 controller. Android only I believe though.
I still prefer SoR Remake over SoR4. The game is not bad at all but all i see is a SoR 2.5 since they acted like SoR3 never existed. I'm not saying that SoR3 is the better of the original series but it brought so many welcome changes to the core gameplay... When you make a sequel you have to take in account ALL the good things that was already in the original series and not let nostalgia taking over...

@TopHatGamingManChannel, I heard about what happened to PatmanQC, and I know that you're going through a rough time with what happened with your friend as well.
Ash was a horribly designed character, as well as was a horrible character overall. Also, if there is a V5.3 of Streets of Rage Remake, then the Streets of Rage 4/Bare Knuckle IV stages, enemies, bosses, items, weapons, and OSTs need to be added, along with Harakiri and Ringmaster (albeit a much larger version of him with more moves as well) from the other Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle games, all need to be added, as well as the enemy and character editor from V4 of Streets of Rage Remake, complete with custom sprite, as well as custom background, creation as well.
