Cats have such mild ways and are intuitive, something I wouldn't have seen in earlier years.

    • @albertsmith99
      @albertsmith99 4 года назад +7

      nah not really. Caring for animals can be expensive. I dont think they would be able to foot the bill. Also not all seniors like cats and some are even allergic.

    • @ilovecatvideos1851
      @ilovecatvideos1851 2 года назад +3

      It’s easy to judge. Assisted living, if one can afford it, is a great intermediate step to keep seniors independent and in a social group when moving in with a family member is not an option. Besides having a live in 25 hour assistant would be impractical.
      And the services of a skilled nursing facility are hard to duplicate at home…a difficult discussion to have and a hard decision to make.
      And remember some people have no children.

    • @crisrody852
      @crisrody852 7 лет назад +50

      I find declawing the most terrible thing a owner can do to his cat, I feel bad to cut the nails of my own cat from time to time (even that she loves it and finds fun to watch me doing it, she even stares at her paw putting the claws in and out like "hum, nice job, but you could have done it better human").
      It takes most of the cat skill to movement around and makes impossible for him to climb stuff

    • @calicocat2677
      @calicocat2677 6 лет назад +26

      Declawing is a terrible surgical procedure that requires part of the cats toes being cut short, so cats will have to walk completely different. If you want, go watch cole and marmalades video on declawing

    This morning my cat just died, she got hit by a car. I woke up earlier cause I've eared the bell rang so I went to the hallway and I saw my sister staring at me until she said, "can you do it?". I don't know why but I knew what happened, so i went outside ( on the meantime my mum just placed her on a table on my garden) and she was there lying on the table, i got closer and for some reasons i just touched her, she was still warm. No, i know why i did it, i was just hoping for a response, you know...anything...but she was there, with her eyes closed and without moving at all. So i just grabbed a shovel and started to dig a hole, once finished I grabbed her and there I've realized it, she was so cold and it took my whole arm to put her in the same position i usually hold her, and then i gently leaned her in the most confortable position (like she Was just sleeping) and nothing, I just covered it up.
    I don't know why I feel that way, I had many cats and many have died but no one just did this to me. She was special.
    And here i am covered in tears, trying to make her story known to someone because i can't do more, not anymore.
    You will always live in my heart Ember, good night.

    During a recent tornado, I went into work (a nursing home) for shelter, and to help with the residents. I wasn't going to leave my ESA cat at home for fear she, and the house won't be there by the time I came home. Although the nurse supervisor wasn't happy that I brought my cat to work, the residents had not been that calm during an emergency situation in years!! More nursing homes should follow this example. It’s been proven that cats help reduce anxiety and depression. The look of joy on tho old people’s’ faces was priceless, I hope they get to see and hold those beautiful kitties again. 😻👵🏻🐈🧓🏻🐈👴🏻👍😍

    This was so sweet! It looked like the residents really enjoyed spending time with the kitties. And all the cats were beautiful! The white and orange one looked kinda like a Turkish Van, the blue/grey one looked like a British Shorthair, and the tabby looked like a huge DSH that reminded me of my, recently passed, cat, Bob, who I miss dearly. Very regal cats. Loved seeing the soft paws on them for safety and they all seemed really gentle. I wish this was something that could happen more regularly. Many seniors have to give up their pets when they move into an assisted living type of residence and you know they miss them! Cats and dogs are great companions and therapy and regular visits would likely improve morale, depression, anxiety, and loneliness and give them something to look forward to.

    My grandma used to have a cat called jasper and he would sit on her lap and let her stroke him, it’s also interesting to see how he has gotten older because when he was younger he could easily jump onto the top of the fence to get into the field behind my grand house but when he got older he would jump almost to the top and pull himself up, he didn’t really like people but he would let you stroke him and play with him, he was a good cat, we love you jasper, and we hope you are ok in kitty heaven 💞💞

    I volunteered in a shelter and a few years ago I get 4 kittens home to care of till they are ready to be adopted. At 8 weeks, I bring them to the shelter with me, it was time for them to go to their new family. Then came a sweet lady, working in a nursing home for elderly and for sick people at the end of their life. I had The Perfect kitty for them. An adorable ginger cat, Gaston, lazy, doesn't play a lot because he only wants cuddles and naps, purring on laps, and never gets enough. So sweet.

    I have depression and I wasn't allowed to get help for it when I lived with my mom. But I had my cat, and she Definitely 100% saved my life. It was like she could feel it when u was low. She would come to me and purr and rub against me. And if that didn't work she would roll around and just act cute lol. She still stays at my moms and we don't talk really anymore 😞 I Really miss my kitty. But I know she's happy were she's at, I couldn't rip her away from her home she's 16 years old. I have another kitty that is a distant relative of hers tho, and he's such a good boy! Iv thought of getting him certified for therapy. Lol, he's just so gentle and calm and sweet. My toddlers poke around and mess with him all day and he's just lays there. And if the poke to hard he will crack open one eye and meow, its like he's saying hhheeeyyy stahp. It's cute lol.

    I love this. Rachael Ray is such an awesome person and so generous helping animals. God bless her because the old guard of animal lovers is very old or dearly departed- Betty White, Doris Day, Bob Barker, Mary Tyler Moore, Loretta Swit. We need younger folks to be the face of helping animals so generously like that. Howard and Beth Stern help animals now as well.

    If I could do what I want, I would set up such a place with animals living there permanently and also with a kindergarten nearby so that kids and old people could meet if they wanted. I hate how older people are just seen as a burden and lead such miserable and lonely lives either at their own home where nobody cares or in very bad care homes, it is such a disgrace! They are such wonderful wise people who can give great advice, love and comfort. I wish I had more older people around, sadly all my grandparents are gone.

    I remember when I was at an inpatient mental hospital in December and they brought therapy dogs to the ward. I had been having a hard time adjusting to being there so when the dogs came in, one came right to me and I started crying. That sweet dog licked my tears and let me pet him for a while, then the owner showed me some tricks that he could do. Then later in the week we got to see the therapy dogs do a performance and I got to run them through an obstacle course and one of the dogs could hit a basketball into the hoop! Clearly this really impacted my time there. I'll never forget that dog.

    I got a Siberian kitten last year who had a rough life in Poland until an American breeder brought her back and sold her to me. She had lost a litter of kittens and I realized she was in need of lots of reassurance. I was told she has problems with strangers and other cats but I brought her to my parents house and she made them feel so happy and she was so loving with other cats. She wants to be friends with everyone. She is so perceptive and reassuring to anyone (cat or person) needing extra attention. Today my roommate cried over losing a friend and my cat has been with them ALL day giving the love and humor. SIberians are so cool. I call her a therapy cat.
