  • One day Lincoln Riley and Dennis Simmons are the bridesmaid on the WR recruiting trail, and then the next day they added another commit to the class of 2025. I have the news on Tanook Hines and why he chose USC.
Lincoln Riley has taken a lot of criticism for the way he coached USC in 2923. But Paul Finebaum went "scorched earth" on the USC head coach during the SEC Media Days, and I have some comments on the matter during the second segment.
In the show's third segment I answer viewer questions and comments mail.

    Hey Marc
    Great show ! Lol
I can’t understand why Finebaum hates Lincoln Riley as much as he does . Give our guy a break . For his age and experience he is or close to an elite coach . I think probably the best coach we could have got . Look Paul spewed so many unfair fibs about Lincoln. Lincoln only had hired one DC . And he finally fired him . And since has hired the best defensive coaches . Let’s give our guy a chance to get our team to national prominence. I don’t think it is fair for Paul or anyone to pass negative assertions on Riley . Let’s give Lincoln Riley five years before we should make any judgements on his body of work . Let’s not forget he took over a football program in complete disarray two short years ago .
I for one are excited to see where Lincoln takes this team . Gosh the guy is only 40 years old . Might get frustrated at times but Lincoln to me is the best thing to happen to our football program in more than a decade . Fight On and screw you Paul

Cause he left OU for USC and he thinks Lincoln did that cause he was afraid of the SEC

Yeah but Riley knew SC was going to the Big Ten when he was hired . So he wasn’t afraid of going to the SEC . Who won the National Championship last year ? Oh it wasn’t an SEC team but a big ten team with a PAC 10 counter party . Enough said Finebaum is a liar and a joke .

Finebaum is one of those guys who goes on social media and talks his trash. But if he ever saw Riley face to face he’d try and shake his hand and start ball washing him. I have always thought if you use social media to talk trash call names you’re basically a coward.

I wholeheartedly agree with you about play calling last year, in particular, the Utah game. If you're successfully running the ball at 5 yards a carry during the first quarter there is absolutely no reason to stop. Period; full stop.

LETS GET the season STARTED THEN!!! When USC brings down the house specially against LSU, FINEBUM can get the double BIRD and he can go away in a whinper. I AGREE with the COLOSSEUM experience. The last game I ATTENDED in person was when UCLA went on the crazy run and beat USC for years when they had MCNOWN. Needless to say it was a great Tail gate experience. USC needs to up their game and figure out how to amplify the football experience even though its a concrete jungle in LA.

Marc, regarding Finebaum this is what I’ve said previously. There is strong sentiment in the national media and especially the southeast that L Riley isn’t a good coach. Not sure why people are so negative about Riley. Having a bad season v being a bad coach are two different things

Finebaum works for ESPN, who holds the rights to the SEC Network and SEC games this year. Finebaum’s job is to get into USC players, coaches and fans heads that they can’t compete with the SEC. When SC curb stomps LSU on September 1st, which I get to witness in person, ESPN will lose tons of $$$$$. Because everyone is going to want to see if SC can destroy the BIG10, people in this country love watching them on television and this will hurt ESPN. If you look at some of the BIG10 match ups this year, all I can say is wow, and I hated watching BIG10 boring football. There is some great games lined up compared to the SEC, this is why this LSU/USC game is very important for a lot of people in the college football industry.

aahhhhhh man, we went and did it anyway Marc! I was hoping not to give Finebaum the time of day, but I like double metaphors, was it allusions.... Many at ABC like to bash us and he's the leader in that department. But don't worry about going heavy on CLR's play calling. I think he had too many cooks in the kitchen with KK et al around. We all remember how Norm Chow deployed talent and what a tactician he was.

Mark it’s sad that we have fallen so far that we show excitement because some kid who sort of fits the body type might transfer to SC. EVERY team has 300 lb guys
Why don’t we call Maximus Gibbs back good grief
Brandon Pili was 6’5” 340 and the defense stunk… Junior college teams have 300 lb linemen that doesn’t mean they are worth a squat c’mon man

Marc I luv ya but you're making too much of it, if Gabriel enters the portal and comes to SC he's just doing what's best for him. What's dirty about it? The coach he committed too is gone, now he has to do what's best for him. I'm sorry to say but Fresno isn't winning anything this year, unlike SC who actually has a good shot to make the CFP. Gabriel will definitely improve SC's defense.

    • @LockedOnUSC
      @LockedOnUSC  Месяц назад +1

I said, "IT feels dirty."--big difference.
And then today I read that other programs are trying to raid Fresno's program. This is what I was trying to paint a picture of. As far as Lightfoot's abilities, I described him as a depth piece but he's not going to be the difference-maker that others are trying to make him out to be.----I Would love to eat those words,
I brought up the fact that he did not use the spring portal opportunity when he knew USC needed help.

Good afternoon Marc! Yes, Paul Finebaum is an armchair fool. he has never played an organized sport beyond 8th grade. He needs attention and he needs clicks. As far as Gaveriel Lightfoot goes, I think he is the biggest reason his Highschool teammate Korey Forman went to Fresno. Only you would know why such a talented athlete like Korey was so underused at USC. Some say it was low effort in practice. My question to you Marc is, do you think USC would take back Forman, I know they'd love to have Lightfoot?
