Japanese actor, film director, film producer, and screenwriter. His real name is Kintaro Hayakawa. He was an international actor who was active mainly in the United States, but also in Japan, France, and the United Kingdom.He was the first Asian actor to rise to stardom as a lead actor in the United States and Europe. One of Hollywood's most popular stars during the silent film era of the 1910s and early 1920s,he was typecast as an exotic beauty and a sexually appealing villain. He won the hearts of white American women during an era of overt racial discrimination and became one of Hollywood's first male sex symbols. He appeared in over 120 movies, including starring roles as lovers and villains.
