    Today Lockie from the Ferntree Gully store demonstrates how to set up an A-Frame tarp. A-Frame tarp setups are very versatile, they can be used as a sitting area while you are camping, or even a sleeping area if the poles and tarp are positioned much closer to the ground. Using lightweight tarps and hiking gear as substitutes, an A-Frame Set up can still be achieved. The A-Frame set up is great as it stops water from pooling on the top of your tarp.
    Being used in this video is a 2.3m x 3.5m tarp, 2 awning poles and 6 guy ropes.

    I hope you're still around because I have a question about that tarp: How well does it block out the sun? I have a canvas tent and while nowhere that I camp gets as hot as Australia, it can still get pretty hot and if I could block the sun, I might be need to bring my 14,000btu air conditioner. Don't laugh, I had to give up the synthetic tents because it was so much hotter inside than outside it wasn't shelter.

    • @tentworld
      @tentworld  2 месяца назад +1

      These tarps do block the sun. So you just have radiant heat from tarp and then ambient air temperature.

      @@tentworldThank you! This could open up options for us here where there aren't a lot of trees. It's nothing like Australia in Indiana so I figured it would work but I still wanted to ask.

    • @tentworld

      There isn't much agreement on this name.

      Rope runner
      Rope gripper are some of the names.

    I have 2.4M pole and I don't know how long guy lines I need for each ends. Can you help me please?

    • @tentworld
      @tentworld  Год назад

      Time to drag out Pythagorean Theorem! But, to save you the effort if you're wanting your pole at 2.4m and your peg point 2.4m away from your pole then you want at least 3.4m of rope, more so that you have some rope for tensioning. You can play with the Googles Pythagorean calculator just here:

    Do I buy the guy lines like that?

    • @tentworld
      @tentworld  3 года назад +1

      Yes - guy lines like this are ideal for car camping, and larger tarp setups. Even better are guy ropes with springs. These help stop the pegs from vibrating out of their holes, and helps reduce stress on the tarp in windy conditions.
