A prime example of the joy brought by two musicians who have spent years perfecting their art - for the sake of music alone - as opposed to the instant fame demanded by so many now, selling us meaningless noise.

Simply out of this world. What a wonderful rendition of this Cindy Lauper song. And played by two of my guitar heroes-:)

Music is still one thing that I have to fathom as I go along... I once had a friend who said, "I've been listening to this all my life and I still couldn't understand it." I guess he was dead-right-- music is indefinite.

Listen to one of Miles live versions. Taylor does have a nice arrangement here.

Yes Wolf Pup, spot on! Great version by Miles... imagine him up there between the two Martins blowing that horn.
Clive James (who puts words on the page as beautifully as these two float musical notes through the air) has a nice quote from Miles... 'If I don't like what the critics write about me I jump into my Ferrari and drive away.'
Gosh, music such as this is just sublime.

How splendid. All the small touches make my heart happy. Taylor’s descending bend (if I may say it that way) at about 7:30 just killed me. Perfect.

Sorry. That bend was at 4:21 and a similar one at about 4:55. Man.

Very nice. Love the tone of Martin Simpson's guitar. Kind of outshines Martin Taylor's tone in the mix. Also, and not to detract from the beauty of this rendition, isn't Martin Taylor's G or B string a little sharp. I know when I've heard Martin Simpson play, he's super intent on making sure his guitar is perfectly in tune. So much so that most people wouldn't even notice.

It might be a matter of temperament perhaps? you are dead right about MS, tuning and intonation spot on. ?I just wonder whether playing solo most of the time he might be inclined to play in more like just temperament, rather than equal? Or, it could be that MT's B string is sharp, as you say. As someone who plays flattop and classical guitars myself, I tended to struggle a bit with the tones that jazzers user and hence must like, even though I like jazz. A matter of what one is used to perhaps?

Perhaps turn Mr. Simpson down a tad... Tommy always made me more aware of that balance.. Just my humble opinion of course... The playing is outstanding!!

Sort of shows to me that their style is so different they don't really gel.

not so keen - nice playing from these fine guys - but the song is very much reduced without the lyric and even these giants of guitar sometimes lose the dynamic in this performance.
