I wouldn't tell anyone else it isn't necessary, but for me, I do not find it's necessary. I don't have better or worse makeup days when prepping or not prepping. I don't wear much base makeup though, so maybe that makes a difference?
@@TheSwauzz that could be part of it. The real issue is why are you wearing the makeup and what do you want out of your finished look. Do you need to appear fresh all day at work which might include 10 hours or more with commutes and over time. Is your skin super dry or very oily and you want your makeup to look as good as when it was first applied many hours later? Do you want your makeup to look natural in broad daylight and remain looking so? Do you need it to hold up with heat/humidity/hot lighting/stage? it all depends on what your goals are. It can look good when you apply it, but for how long and under what conditions? Prep and having the best skin possible can matter more than you might think. Hope this helps to answer your question! 💋💄👠

Yea, I really like using E.L.F, it’s one of the few makeup brands that doesn’t make my acne worse. I started using this brand because they were recommended to me by a vegan classmate a couple of years ago. The only issue I have is that some of the eyeshadows can be a bit fragile.

Robert I just wanted to express my sincere gratitude for having someone like you on RUclips. I was completely tired of not getting true and real life makeup techniques. I absolutely love you and your brother. ❤️❤️
Robert, you are the most informative makeup person (including all beauty gurus, famous MUAs, and everyone filming makeup content) on RUclips. First of all, you really know about different makeup techniques, which is suitable for which skin type, which product would work and how it is better applied, which effect it gives, etc. Second of all, you really explain them with all reasons why. I feel like either people are not very careful about that knowledge (which is totally OK for other purposes) or know them but never explain it precisely. Either way, I cannot understand and apply them by myself. Thank you for being here, I am so happy to have you as a teacher.
Man just listening to you talk is so soothing, I’m absolutely shattered today and I literally just chilled out immediately 😂 you’ve got that ASMR voice 😂
Right lol. Check out a recent video he uploaded where it's just him putting on makeup for almost an hour with no edits and hes doing a voice over. I think it's called "stop ruining your makeup!" Even the way he applies his makeup is elegant and relaxing lol.
The thing about makeup looks that use a lot of product is that while they look good on camera, they tend to looks cakey and flakey in person. For face-to-face situation less product is definitely better.
Thank you for the timestamps in the description Robert! Very helpful 😊 I'm continually impressed by your ability to make any colour work for you. Scientist, Historian, Scholar of 5 minute crafts and now Magician.
I love the transparency in the title. E.L.F. has some staples that I use every time I do my makeup: Eye crease brush, HD undereye setting powder, brow/clear mascara.
I’m 33 soon. My face is starting to change with age but my skin is the same as when I was a teen; so shiny and acne prone. It’s really hard not to feel like I’m doing something wrong?? I’m trying so hard 😥 Robert and James are so helpful for teaching me but also helping me *relax* about it all.
I love the camo cc cream, the hydrating camo concealer, and all three primers you used ! I use their mint primer, the putty primer, and the eyeshadow primers! I use the putty eye primer and the pro eyeshadow primer to help kind of soften the stiff formula of the putty eye primer
Even as my other makeup spending goes up, I can't bring myself to wear anything other than the Elf Expert Liquid Liner. Used to be a dollar, but it's still cheap and every other liner I try falls short
I remember you saying that you don’t like accepting sponsorships on videos of reviewing & using products..but I’m so glad you did this! You deserve to get paid for stuff like this that you actually use!! We still trust that you’re giving your honest opinions, even with E.L.F sponsoring the video! (you & James are prolly the only ones I 100% trust)
Love the eyeshadow sticks from elf. I bought one of every shade and he’s right about them acting as primers. They are awesome! Also if you order from the website you get beauty squad points that leads to free products and sometimes they send you products to test. I got that mascara as a promotion for feedback. Definitely a fan. ❤️
Love it when you talk about drugstore makeup, I have a lot of great stuff in my collection from the drugstore and keep buying more, I do have a couple things that are on the other end but love ELF makeup the most !!

Oh it’s reallly not that interesting! I used to smoke years ago! When I was about 20 and the lighter was just crazy and it singed my lashes. For about a year they looked like they were stuck together
I found Robert by accident on Facebook and absolutely love him. My fave make up artist by far. He's just so real and transparent about everything and I've learned more over the past few months from his videos than ever before. Absolute game changer finding him and I love trying his techniques. Thank you Robert. Don't ever change ❤
e.l.f. is a blessing, honestly. I feel so bad about the money I spent on “premium” brands when I got a new job and didn’t care about spending properly. I still have my favourites from the more expensive companies but I care more about quality now and elf are not bad at all most of the time!
Love this ! It’s educational as well as just magical listening to Robert speak about the process. I can tell he loves what he does and truly understands what we want in products ! I live how excited she gets about products that deliver!
Thank you so much for doing videos with E.L.F. makeup! With covid I haven’t really been leaving my town at all and I don’t have a local Sephora or Ulta. But I do have a few drug stores so I have been able to try some really great make up and keep learning new techniques for a really decent price. Make up has become a hobby for me now. You are awesome Robert! Keep being you! 😀
Their felt tip eyeliner is my all time fav product they make! The color is highly pigmented, the tip is super sharp, and it costs only $3 USD. I love the look you created today and really want to try their Nourishing Facial Oil after seeing how well it works. Thanks again for sharing another amazing lewk 💜🤍🖤
I usually only buy high end makeup, but ELF is my favourite drugstore brand. I liked their CC Camo cream which I used up, and also their liquid glitter eyeshadows.
E.l.f.and Salt New York are my favorite brands. Cruelty free and so easy to use. My wallet loves e.l.f. prices and products, while the Donna Meagle and Tom Haverford in me love to enjoy the finer things in life with Salt New York. Plus their blushes always make me feel so confident.
E.L.F. products are so amazing. Very affordable and great quality. I have the putty primer and it works great, I'm also loving the NYX eyeshadow base (white) Listen to Robert when he says prime your eyes! He is 100% correct, it makes such a difference. Love watching your videos, I found myself drawn to you because of how you apply makeup to look so natural which I like personally. There are other artists out there that go way overboard for my liking. The BAKING goodness, I can't stand it either.
I absolutely love E.l.f products so much! Years ago are used to use health products when they weren’t so good to the point where I stopped using them but in the last few years they’ve stepped up the quality of their products so much that I absolutely love them and some of them are staples in my make up routine like the camo hydrating concealer is amazing. Are used to be obsessed with the Matte camo concealer but now I love the hydrating one more. ❤️❤️ I need to try the CC cream and I adore they’re little 4 pan shadows.
I suffer with rosacea on my chin & nose; and the cc cream does a really good job of evening out my skin tone and covering the redness! It feels so light, and it looks natural 👏🏼 Could not recommended enough
I love that you love E.L.F. like I love it! And yes, you absolutely are the godfather of that concealer technique that is done everywhere now - Tik Tok, RUclips, Instagram... no more triangles and I almost never see anyone "baking" anymore. You're the best, Robert! Reforming our creasy undereyes, one lower lid at a time!!
All I’ve been doing is trying new makeup this year, treating myself to ‘high end’ stuff some times- and honestly, ELF products are some of the best I’ve ever used! Their HD Camo concealer is my go-to 💖
Absolutely love ELF. I love the Hello Hydration face cream, the Wow Brow brow gel and the putty primer. To be honest though everything I’ve used from ELF has always been amazing!
ELF does have some good drugstore products. I have also noticed thanks to you Robert lots of other beauty you tubers are using less concealer and also using your placement💜. Thanks for always having great content!!
I remember when Elf came out and it was a Game Changer for us broke kids who wanted nicer makeup that was cheap and readily available at the drugstore. Glad to see they're still holding up to that promise of quality without the cost, and now I'm learning how to properly use it even better than ever thanks to Robert 💙 also did I run to go looking for that lil mint mini palette the second I saw how it looked on your eyes? Maybe.

I love E.L.F. I love how everything is super affordable. Those little bite-sized shadows are cute and great for quick look (and perfect for travel when we can do that again) and that one illuminating concealer is a current HG for me. I also get incredibly dry under my eyes despite how much hydration I give them - I'll try your tip of putting a drop of my favorite oil under my eye first and see if that helps.

Robert I just wanted to express my sincere gratitude for having someone like you on RUclips. I was completely tired of not getting true and real life makeup techniques. I absolutely love you and your brother. ❤️❤️
Your Mickey mirror always makes me smile. ❤️
The CC cream is amazing! E.L.F is stepping their game up
Robert, you are the most informative makeup person (including all beauty gurus, famous MUAs, and everyone filming makeup content) on RUclips.
I’m genuinely impressed by the fact that he can pull off any colour, anything he wears he looks stunning in 😭😭💞💞
Who-oooh! I’m so glad you’re reviewing this brand. This is the drugstore brand that proved that drugstore makeup can be amazing!
@@kats.5958 I definitely will :D
I never never never get tired of hearing your concealor/dark circles approach. Thank you for the refreshing perspective!
Hi Robert! Excited for this video, something in my price range!
"They're lying and that do not want you to succeed in life" DEAD.
You are so precious. You make my day.
The ELF eye colors are lovely!
Robert I think you are totes adorbs....
I learn so much from you and enjoy your sweet sense of humor.
I love how your so delicate with every product. Doesn’t make me feel weird about not using tons of it like you see online Lol .
The thing about makeup looks that use a lot of product is that while they look good on camera, they tend to looks cakey and flakey in person. For face-to-face situation less product is definitely better.
This is the only makeup channel I watch now - I like how Robert is so upfront and real.
Thank you for the timestamps in the description Robert! Very helpful 😊 I'm continually impressed by your ability to make any colour work for you. Scientist, Historian, Scholar of 5 minute crafts and now Magician.
I just love when you review new drugstore stuff because it amazes me so much how drugstore has improved, especially elf!!!
Elf has good products, very easy on the budget and they deliver every time! My girlfriend loves their mascara.
I love the transparency in the title. E.L.F. has some staples that I use every time I do my makeup: Eye crease brush, HD undereye setting powder, brow/clear mascara.
My skin doesn't know where it's going either!! I'm 38 and my skin acts like it's going thru puberty sometimes!! Come on!!!
I’m about to be 31, but my skin isn’t sure if it’s 15 or 55 😩 I feel your pain lol
I'm 34 and I swear my skin changes every third day.
It makes it easier to justify all the makeup though lol.
Wait until your 45, then your skin won't only be confused, it will be absent minded!
My skin was actually normal in my teens. It started acting up in my late 20s.
I'm 47 now and it's being a complete bitch.
Hurry up, menopause!
I love the camo cc cream, the hydrating camo concealer, and all three primers you used ! I use their mint primer, the putty primer, and the eyeshadow primers! I use the putty eye primer and the pro eyeshadow primer to help kind of soften the stiff formula of the putty eye primer
My favorite elf product is the tinted brow gel in dark brown it’s amazing and not clumpy
Even as my other makeup spending goes up, I can't bring myself to wear anything other than the Elf Expert Liquid Liner. Used to be a dollar, but it's still cheap and every other liner I try falls short
I just love Robert I can literally watch him talk about anything.his voice is so soothing
Love your brush technique/pressure, so gentle and nice to watch. I learn so much from you and Lisa Eldridge 💜
Such a nice notification on this gloomy Wednesday 😔💜
I hope you are fine and I wish you lots of endurance and happiness 💕
@@flowerofpurity you are so sweet thank u so much 💜 I hope you’re having a beautiful day
That eye look is stunning. Using eyeshadow stick to prime for powder eyeshadow is such a great tip. Love these videos
2:20 When you say "my ring finger"... All your fingers are ring fingers 😆
That's what it's called
Love the eyeshadow sticks from elf. I bought one of every shade and he’s right about them acting as primers. They are awesome! Also if you order from the website you get beauty squad points that leads to free products and sometimes they send you products to test. I got that mascara as a promotion for feedback. Definitely a fan. ❤️
Love it when you talk about drugstore makeup, I have a lot of great stuff in my collection from the drugstore and keep buying more, I do have a couple things that are on the other end but love ELF makeup the most !!
You and Alexandra Anele are my favourite beauty youtubers❤ So relaxing and informative to watch you!
Wow Robert, I just noticed your subscriber count, your subscribers have grown BIG TIME since finding you! I actually knew it would bcz people love finding talented (& charming) men in the beauty community! Hugs from the states 🇺🇸
His personality is so loveable! And he seems like such a kind person, it makes me want to hug him. And just him as a human being is so wonderful! Not to mention the hard work he puts in his videos. Time stamps, great tips, new products, HORROR STORIES! Robert, YOU’RE WONDERFUL! 😭
Robert, I NEED the story of how you burned your lashes! I really really NEED to know!
That elf cream blush is everything. I have always wanted a cream blush able to work on top of powder and this one worked very well looking nice.
e.l.f. is a blessing, honestly.
I've used e.l.f. since high school (I'm 30 now) and have not used any other brand since. I love it so much!
You know it's a good day when Robert puts up a full face of video!
Two of my favorite things Robert and elf, nice way to start a Wednesday 😊
Omg the squeal during the eyeshadow application 😍
I haven't seen your videos in so long and this genuinely brought me so much joy, whether I'm looking for makeup advice or not its a pleasure to watch
Amen, the "baking" trend needed to die asap. So glad he used concealer that's a bit darker in order to avoid rings around the eyes.
Watching this video I couldn't help but get this Adam Lambert vibes of Robert, loving this look, especially the hair today!
I'm so glad you did another full face of elf after a year! Love them!
I absolutely LOVE ELF!!! Amazing products for less than drug store prices. I don’t know how they do it but I’m absolutely in love 😍
That giggle when he said “oh there they are” is literally me every time I put mascara on at the end of my makeup routine lol. Love the vids❤️
I remember when Elf came out and it was a Game Changer for us broke kids who wanted nicer makeup that was cheap and readily available at the drugstore. Glad to see they're still holding up to that promise of quality without the cost, and now I'm learning how to properly use it even better than ever thanks to Robert 💙
also did I run to go looking for that lil mint mini palette the second I saw how it looked on your eyes? Maybe.
Your skin looks incredible! I'm so happy to see ELF sponsoring such a genuine MUA. Kudos to ELF 👏🏽
That mint eye shadow looks PHENOMENAL ON YOU!!!!!! (Chef’s kiss)
Please try full face of glam shop makeup! Their cosmetics are amazing!
Oh my god the little squeak he did when he was so excited about how nice the green eyeshadow was melted my heart.. I thought I couldn't love this guy more .. yay Robert 💕💕
I absolutely love Elf. As someone with mature skin it really works for me
Great look! Always learn something from u in every video. ELF has really stepped up their game with some great products. Thanks again! 💜💜💜💜
Hiiii Robert Dahhlinng!!👋
It sure is wonderful to see your dashing face on this rainy & dreary day!😍
YAAAY, you said "Niacinamide" perfectly on the first go!👏👏👏🤭
This here is the way one is supposed to do a "Full Face Of..." review.💯💯💯
Have an incredible rest of your week, Love, and I cannot wait to see you and James this Sunday on y'all's "Welsh Twins" channel!!💖💋
Robert makes me so happy! He’s so calming and just plain precious!
My favourite brand! Ever! I can't understand how they do such amazing products at such a low price. Thank you for this video, I love you so much! ❤️❤️
Thankyou so much Robert 🤍💯
I really appreciate you using Greens and more affordable products.
