They were mature when they formed ABBA with their own musical histories and then they had children so no diva behaviour. Toddler tantrums were reserved for home! What I am about to say is that their music has so much to show from the musical imagination, harmonic development, form structure and melody construction, it is a treasure shrine to learn from, whatever you are, only a listener or music professional. Some devoted rock fans at the time were calling them kitchy popers, but today even the hardest metal fans admit their quality. They sublimated many genres in their style, from classical to country-folk, from schlager to disco, from musical to sharp rocky expression, dressing everything in tasteful voicings and instrumental figures of arrangements. In fact, what we consider pop music today was founded by them back then.

Is there any song by ABBA that isn't awesome? They never went the cheap and easy way. Always top notch compositions, arrangements, perfomances and production. Yep, this clip re-uses footage from other clips. So did some others. No problem with me!
Some of the early abba stuff is pretty horrendous and cheesy! They didn't really get the Abba sound until Arrival Album - after that they were brilliant.

Well I don't think so - sure it was commercial music and none of the ABBA members ever had the goal to make high art. But they were honest about it and always delivered each song with fantastic musicianship. They never underestimated the audience. That alone deserves the highest praise. And yes: I agree with you (I own all ABBA albums and DVDs): Arrival (private helicopter - they even admitted vanity on the album cover art) was the turning point - they added weight, depth and even higher musicianship to their openly admitted commercial music. I can't help but love these guys and gals!!!!
a fun fact, benny andersson(the pianist) went in my old school grimstaskolan in stockholm. the old piano he was training on was still there when i went there (1997- 2007). a big white piano. makes me proud to be born in grimsta :)

I grew up in the 70s and my parents were fans. I feel like they are a part of my soul because one certain song reminds me of a vacation, another one reminds me of Christmas one year, etc. I also went to the ABBA museum a few months ago and it was epic. Highly recommend it.

Another underrated song! The piano is so catchy and I love the way the girls sing "are you suuuure you wanna hear moooore" it's great, and the harmonies in the background are gorgeous. 2:26-2:39 alone is just a masterpiece.

Agnetha and Anni-Frid were pure magic. I love everything about these two super-ladies of pop; their chiselled movie star looks, their stunningly sensational bodies, their breath-taking smiles, and most of all their angelic voices.
Just danced around the living room with my 7 year old who thought this was the best song ever! I love the sexy grin from Agnetha while she is singing behind Anni-Frid.
Feel like this should be on MORE ABBA GOLD.....just a great pop song. And it was released as a single in Japan. Really good sythesizer arrangements and Agnetha and Frida's vocals are just perfect. Wonderful!!

Another underrated song! The piano is so catchy and I love the way the girls sing "are you suuuure you wanna hear moooore" it's great, and the harmonies in the background are gorgeous. 2:26-2:39 alone is just a masterpiece.

I remember buying the 7” single of Dancing Queen and flipping over to the B-side……and it was That’s Me!!….I think I wore out the needle on my record player……I reckon this song is my fave ABBA track of all time…it just has that trademark ABBA feel…it’s timeless…and the video is just gorgeous!!

Frida must have been a producers dream...absolute mastery of harmony singing. In the lower register is even harder.
She was ABBA's vocal weapon. Also great live performer and singer too.
Keen ear. Pitch perfect. Versatile. Multiple genre. Won best vocalist awards as child, pre-teen, teen and adult. Took stage at age 10. Pro at 13, 1958, as soon as she was 'legal". In 1964 she won a national Best vocalist award. Then in 1967, she won National Best Vocalist again, which launched her TV Show and EMI Sweden era, 1967-72. She also did some modeling as well.
