the irony that honami's selflessness came from her selfish idea of kindness i love how real she feels on the idea of pressure from people in school how you never want anyone to see your flaws which makes me appreciate leo/need for how much each member truly cares for each other, even with their flaws
i feel that in general, project sekai is really good at making characters that are somewhat realistic and easy to relate to. it makes me sad that honami (and minori alot of times) are overlooked as people stereotype them and their voices. thank you so much for making videos about some of the most underrated or mischaracterized members of the cast
I really liked Honami’s first focus event story. And was surprised by how many people actually disliked it. In particular, I liked how Honami picked a side, but also came up with solutions to help out the side that wasn’t chosen. Instead of doing “power of friendship”, where they just tell the class to not fight, and everything is magically solved. She acknowledged both sides have valid points but ultimately chose one, but also accommodating the concerns of those wanting to study instead. Like it’s actually good conflict resolution.
I vividly see myself in Honami. When I first read her story it was scary how much I related to her Also sadly I feel like she is one of the ( if not the )most under appreciated characters in proseka
While MMJ is my favorite group overall, Honami is absolutely my favorite character in Prosekai. It's unreal how much I relate to her struggles of wanting to be accepted. I love seeing her get more courageous with each event and being able to stand up for what she believes in. The girls getting through to her in the L/N main story legit made me tear up. Also, special mention goes to her relationship with Kanade, it's genuinely my favorite character pairing to see in stories, because their interactions are always so sickly sweet that I never get tired of them. Both of them being able to confide in each other about things they can't with their respective groups means a lot. I can't wait for Kanade's next focus event, because I know that the origin of their friendship is in that event.
I know it's a weird take to have, but I actually like L/N characters better when they're interacting with other groups rather than with each other. Honami's just way funnier when interacting with strong personalities like Emu, Tsukasa, Shizuku and Ena because rather than being an angry tsukkomi she just gets increasingly more uncomfortable which is amusing. And because she's literally the only character who's "too nice to get angry but too self-conscious to not care" it makes you want to see her deal with everyone's bullshit.
Again I'll say it again Honami is severely underrated. Her backstory and character is as great as the popular characters and has a great voice and yet she's put in last place of every poll.
Hm not really, while honami is nice but specifically she's too nice, but anyways her backstory is great but she can never be compared to pupular characters like for example Miku or shizuki, the reason why she prob get last in each poll is bec she's either not popular or the people disliked her, also #miku and shizuki forever
As a healing people pleaser, something I really like abt honami is that she still chooses to be kind but sets boundaries and becomes kinder to herself. I rarely see characters who start out kind and remain kind, they always end up becoming cold. Seeing honami’s characterization reminded me that I shouldn’t be unkind to others, I should just be kinder to myself.
Leo/need is, in my opinion, the most realistic group, not only because their struggles feel real but because the characters still are troubled about what happened to them and are still trying to fix everything Ichika being left by all of her friends lost all her courage, thinking it was her fault that they left her, and in certain jpsekai events we see how her courage starts to grow back Saki is a story of motivation, and even if her past still haunts her and she fears going back to the hospital, this is no limitation for her to want to enjoy her teenage years and life in general at her fullest Honami is very well explained here, as all the bullying she suffered still haunts her as we see in her first focus event, and we see her grow as a character, and I’m hoping she gets a focus event soon as she is a very overlooked character due to her kind personality Shiho is the most misunderstood due to her relationship with her sister, but she is very kind even if she looks tough and rude, perhaps even scary, as she keeps to herself most of the time, but her entire reason to leave Ichika was due to the things people were saying of her (shiho) and she didn’t want anyone to say anything about her friends If I made any mistakes please correct me as English is not my first language, but going back to all of it, I think the explanation you made was a perfect summary of honami as a character, and I would love to see more analysis you might do of other characters. Pjsekai makes amazing characters and everyone has a story to tell, maybe you’ll find the reason why characters act the way they act if you just look a bit deeper
as a honami fan and kinnie i love and respect her so much and i wish i was strong as her im having a really hard time with my so called friends because i always feel left behind and trying to show my kindness in a very unhealthy way just to be praised ( sometimes is also because of kindness and care but i feel really anworthy because of my low self esteem) i loved to read honamis event stories to see her charcter development and how she grows with the help of her friends she is so precious and thank you for making this video i hope whoever reads this will have a great day or night !
I think you can help people understand underrated/misunderstood groups of pjsekai like Leo/Need & More More Jump! with your character analysis of those groups! I also mean it as positive, do not take it from the other way (live laugh love honami my love)
Thank you for making this video !! It's such a shame that she is so underrated since she is such a well-made and realistic character. I hope more people would look into her character after this.
I know this video is old, but i gotta comment lol I really love project sekai's writing-- the characters are archetypical but really come to life if you dig a bit deeper in ways that make perfect sense for their upbringing and personality. There are also a lot of pretty interesting themes and philosophies on the world that are somewhat uncommon , like here where kindness is a thing that can be selfish and which in its optimal form requires strength and boundaries. I'm a wondershow fan first and foremost (sorry) so it's reminding me a lot of Rui and Emu's stories, where the main themes are that having dreams and hope for the future is actually incredibly difficult in the face of a world that has largely been forced to give up on theirs due to circumstance and peer pressure. Rui's middle school loneliness also kinda broke him (not pjsk out here accurately representing the insecure hellscape of middle school lol), and though he never gave up on his goal of creating great shows, he did give up on his dreams of having friends to do it with. He got used to being treated as a weirdo, a genius but also a problem child, by everyone around him, to the point he decided to stop putting himself out there at risk of getting hurt. There is a logical coldness buried deep within him which is frequently at war with his own simple desire to not be alone. He mostly escapes the pain this causes by analyzing and manipulating others, but is quite bad at implicitly understanding his own feelings. At several points in the story he doesn't even realize he's so afraid of being alone it's painfully obvious until someone literally says it to his face. Emu by contrast is very straightforward and makes friends with everyone (sometimes against their will lol), and understands how she feels very well, but has a tendency to give up when faced with too much opposition. She spent most of her childhood in PXL, and loves her grandfather very much (built the park and was also a dreamer like her), but her family besides him for a long time considered her dreams childish, stupid and unrealistic. Even after their relationship improves, you can tell this fear of being a burden by pushing her ideas onto people weighs heavily on her. She will often hide her sadness from the people who love her, and if something is seriously wrong she is very insistent on not asking for help and dealing with it herself. Her family troubles are arguably the inciting incident for the entire plot and cause her a lot of stress and she intentionally brushes it under the rug until three events in when the rest of wxs accidentally stumbles into an argument between her and her brothers. Like Rui this continues to be a problem for her straight up to the present, because the main link the two of them have in contrast to Nene and Tsukasa is being stuck in the past, despite how outwardly head-in-the-clouds they are. One of my favorite conversations in the game is during the Twilight Festival, where Rui talks to Mafuyu about the perils of knowing what you truly want. Many events earlier in Smile of a Dreamer, when wxs meets emu's brothers during that argument i mentioned, Rui points out that they only feel this way about Emu because they themselves have given up on their dreams, and either cannot understand those who have them, or do not want to, because it is too painful. In this conversation, Mafuyu expresses her sadness and envy towards those pursuing their dreams, as she has none. Rui, offers that it's not that she has no dreams, but that a dream is a difficult thing to carry in the face of an environment which scoffs at it as foolish and unrealistic. Mafuyu's dream is something that was crushed to the point that even after a lot of development she still doesn't remember what it is, but everyone in the game has had their dreams challenged, laughed at or brushed off to some extent. Forgetting one's true feelings due to difficulties in your life is literally the premise of the whole game's story. Kindness is similarly often seen as weakness or naive to those who are not strong enough to carry it. Kindness means you open yourself up to others' feelings, to rejection and exploitation, to being hurt. when it is crushed or forgone, it is often done out of fear or selfishness, by people who are too scared to take up the burden of caring about others. Sorry for the tangent. I love your analyses!

It's wonderful how everyone can find their own meaning in those beautiful cards, i have the first card you showed and the first thing that comes to mind is that Honami was afraid of getting hurt, afraid of the pain and suffering that chaos represents, the broken glass and the drumset being all over the place is pure chaos, yet there she is sitting and smiling calmly as a soft weave meeting the sand, a ray of kindness in the middle of chaos, who wouldn't be blessed to have Honami as a true close friend.

Honestly, I didn’t care for honami at first I thought she was forgettable and I just didn’t care for her. But now… she’s one of my favorite characters! I read the main story and her event and I started to understand her character more and then I just watched some tiktok edits (lol) and I couldn’t help but start loving her. She desperately needs to be recognized more by the fandom same with the rest of Leo/need and more more jump I feel like no one cares about them 😢
I just need to rant here. Every time I try to recall her name, I go “Himeno? Hinomori…? HONAMI-“ I know I’m being mean but she’s so forgettable sometimes.. I really love her voice tho, esp her cover of heartbeat
I am sorry for the messed up audio at 7:30 TT I got cr striked

Honestly, I didn’t care for honami at first I thought she was forgettable and I just didn’t care for her. But now… she’s one of my favorite characters! I read the main story and her event and I started to understand her character more and then I just watched some tiktok edits (lol) and I couldn’t help but start loving her. She desperately needs to be recognized more by the fandom same with the rest of Leo/need and more more jump I feel like no one cares about them 😢
I have been trying to convince my friends that honamis good
