Winter Bird IS her best 🥰 47:30 the song is inspired by Dionysos, the stranger God. He's both male and female, alive and dead, blood and wine. He's famous for liberating women and partying like no other with fauns and maenads. Each song of this album is connected to a Greek god :)
I'm just having so much fun watching you guys, I am sick and can't go out but you are making me laugh so hard, I'm enjoying my day when I thought I was going to be all sad and bored, I have watched some other reactions of this same album because I love Aurora and how she moves the people with her songs, but this is the best one so far, thank you, I appreciate it
“Sirens singing” in “Exhale/Inhale” is a reference to the half-bird/half-woman creatures from Greek mythology who would lure sailors to their deaths by singing their beautiful song from their island. I love in the song how the sirens sing an emergency call to help save the planet.
Enjoyed your reaction! Really great album -- right now I'm especially playing Everything Matters, Heathens, The Innocent, A Dangerous Thing, Exhale - Inhale, Blood in the Wine, Artemus, and A Little Place Called the Moon! They need to tap AURORA for the new 'Ring of Power' series (either for a song or as a character)!
giving in to the love , Exhale inhale , blood in the wine, a temporary high and A dangerous thing are mu topt 5 on this album even if it is almost impossible to put together a top when it comes to Aurora
After over 1 year of listening to this album, my top 5 are Everything Matters, Giving in to the Love, Exist for Love, A Dangerous Thing, and This Could Be a Dream!
I loved watching you two react! You guys obviously have such a fun relationship! 😌 Also, ‘You Keep Me Crawling’ had the EXACT same effect on me. I have been listening to it NONSTOP since it came out. 🤣
Great reaction 👍 I love this album so much🥰 Aurora likes it when people make up their own mind of what the meaning of the songs are , but she has said something about it. Like that every song is referring to a god/goddess. There are mostly greek gods/goddesses, but “Heathens” is about Eve👍 “Exist for love” is her first love song, written in 2020.❤️ She doesn’t really like to have other artists featuring, but she made this album in an old french castle in Norway. For some hundred years ago there lived a french man there, and he loved art and music. And Aurora thought it would be a nice way to honour this french castle by having Pomme write and sing the last bit in french 🥰 This is what Aurora says about the meaning of the song: "It's a very strange story, a story I would like for people out there to figure out themselves. I contacted a French artist, Pomme, to write the ending for me. And it is beautiful. Sensual. And real. I do often feel like this world is trying to make me focus on all these great miracles. And somehow I feel like it makes me miss out on the small ones. And that is sad. Because the small miracles happen all the time. Sometimes several times a day. And I want to see all of them. Because everything matters." Here’s a video clip where Aurora tells about most of the songs from the album: ruclips.net/video/Ej0eA-Fp-p8/видео.html O, if you haven’t seen the documentary “Once Aurora” I really recommend it. You get to know Aurora in an intimate way, and in some parts it was quite heartbreaking ❤️ Love from Norway 🇳🇴
@@domcactus I am reading comments before I watch the reaction, I know, I am late to the show, lol. You don't have to go to Norway to see Aurora, she tours the world, I saw her May 2022 in California, and, of course, she was awesome live in person.
Aurora talked in this interview about "Exhale Inhale" (as opposed to Inhale, Exhale) comes from grief counselling (Aurora lost several people close to her over the years). So I think it is a statement about grief for the current state of the climate: youtu . be / dK-FJeA3kiw&t=595s Carmen Holt: "You usually hear it in reverse: Inhale, Exhale, like if you are in yoga class: Inhale and exhale. But I have recently had an experience with grief, and it was actually exhaling, that came first." Aurora: "Yeah, it is the exhaling that comes first. I have experienced the same."
The album is intentionally very different from her previous sounds and very experimental and playful. Maybe by the next album she goes back to her previous sounds, it will be interesting to find out: youtu . be / YytOgPVXqK0&t=3m24s "Sonically what can you tell us about kind of ehh, is this (Cure For Me) kind of representative of what you're exploring on the next record. Is it a sign of what's to come?" "Ehh No! It's very NOT how the album sounds, which is very exciting. But it has something in common with the album, that I am experimenting with new things and new sides, which I am enjoying. Because it is easy for me to make a really "Aurora" album you know, like that feels like nature and Mother Earth. It is very easy for me to do that because it comes so naturally for me, so I have been *really* enjoying just doing something new this time, doing something different. Because this is my third...and a half....album, and it's about time, you know, in my mind I needed to just play around and do something different, and for me music has always been extremely serious and no fun. It's been very like very serious, and I always write very serious things, and I can see myself like standing on stage every night for an hour and being like really sad all the time, because all my songs are so filled with so much sadness, you know. I just wanted to make an album for myself that had a bit more playfulness and cheekiness and wildness. It's very exciting, I'm very excited to share the album with you, and it will come out this year."
Thanks for sharing some insight into the songs! I'll definitely need to check out more videos about her talking on the album's meaning. And I do appreciate the experimental-ness of this album. Although I truly adored her previous works that were more cohesive, this one seems to be best seen as a collection of stories and tales that she wants to share with us, which is quite an interesting concept. Thanks for the comments!

Spoiler: long comment haha. One of the things I like the most about Aurora's songs is that in every one she tells us a story. You can read it literally or give it your own, sometimes deep, interpretation. You can even link two or more songs and make a bigger story out of them! I think this album is full of hidden layers to analyze and I totally loved it now, even if the first time I listen it to I wasn't sure how to feel about the way-too-much information I was receiving from the different sounds and styles. But it happened the same with Infections of /a different kind/ of human. Specially part two was too different from All my demons. But at the end I totally fell for it (Soulless creatures's still on the top five), just like with this album
Very true. Whenever my sister and I try to attribute a meaning to her songs, we always end up having completely different interpretations of it, which is fascinating. Also, I've got to agree with you that Soulless Creatures is definitely in her all time best tracks. I'm a sucker for that song's dramatic instrumental and choruses! also, is it just me, or is “the innocent” a successor to “in boxes” and “in bottles”? It doesn’t sound the same at all but i feel like it continues the story of this evil yandere witch character. the witch gets at lovers by killing them and stealing their body parts (hands, spine…) and now she’s saying “you would never let me into your heart” which is obv about love but also a play on words maybe? like you would never let me PHYSICALLY get in there. Also she does drown this love interest character “for the sake of the torture” and then feels that she’s “closer” which sounds vague but what if she’s saying physically closer, like now she can eat the love interest’s heart? Much to think about.
Very true! It's definitely one of the highlights for me, and a stunning way to start the album. I do speak French, so Pomme's part feels even better when the lyrics make sense, I can tell you that much! Beautiful song
