      Blow torch and 3 foot breaker bar to get the bolts to let go. 3 lb sledge to get it off. 5 ton press to get the drive shaft out. Angle grinder with a wire cup brush to clean chunky rust off. Right angle mini disk sander with a drum attachment for cleaning inside. Apply your favorite heavy-duty grease and reassemble. Now do the other side because you never replace just one. 🤣🤣🤣

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  6 месяцев назад +1

      Excellent! Good question! Install depends on your mental and physical abilities, comfort level, time, tools, temp, location, etc. So lots of stuff to think about. I feel like most people could do it with enough preparation's. Maybe try looking up your specific vehicle on youtube. Find the front or rear repair you want to do and see what you think is involved, and decide if you want to attempt it. If you have anyone you know that is more capable maybe you could team up and tackle the repair together over your days off 😀

      Hi, you have Press-in style front bearings and Bolt-in style rears. Cost will vary. Front will be a more cost because of press in style but generally last longer. You could add that to the hub mount bolts if you want to. Won't hurt a thing. Thread locker will slow down a bolt from backing out. The torque of the fastener is what actually prevents it from moving. Thread locker is a great backup plan. I have never seen a properly tightened hub bolt back out. So for that reason, I usually do not use it. But it can be a great idea if you want to do that😃🔧

    As far as I'm concerned it's not junk till you hear a clunk, get a grease needle and that bearing it good for a while yet. Also if you do one might as well do the other because if one went the other won't be too far behind.

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  Год назад

      Any indication of noise or looseness indicates the damage is done and the bearing is bad. The grease is a great idea ahead of time but would be too late for this bearing. I agree doing both is a great idea if possible. But one can be done at a time also. Personal preference 😃🔧

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  5 месяцев назад

      Yes i used it here because i have experience and felt comfortable doing so. Impacts can be substituted in some areas of repairs. "Tight is tight", is a good methodology in some places. Before understanding proper bolt torque on different size and types of fasteners, hand tighten and torquing with a torque wrench is always best. There are even torque wrenches for small things, all the way down to #2 phillips and flat head fasteners! 😀
