Damn that is impressive. That’s a big trans.
I drive garbage trucks for a living house to house and once watched our shop take apart an Allison 4500 6 speed and I couldn’t believe how HUGE it was. But seeing them apart is rare. Amazing what a good trans can hold up to.
We floor it fully loaded 66,000lb, shifts 1-2, slam on the brakes, shift 2-1, auto neutral, drive, floor it, shift 1-2, slam on the brakes, shift 2-1 neutral. We do this thousands of times a day for now 7 years straight and 80% of the trucks are on the original trans. No idea how

It blows me away how many people buy first model year vehicles, and then are amazed or upset when issues happen. I work in product development and would NEVER buy a redesigned anything. I also loved how everyone said the super duty 10speed would be an easy copy past for Ford since the 150 10 speed had already been out for several years. Again, obviously these people don't understand how product development works. Thanks for sharing!

10R140 is 330lbs. It’s a light duty transmission. It’s actually small for a 10 speed transmission. For example …the 6 speed Aisin AS69RC in the Ram is 400lbs without fluids. That is a big transmission.

I don't t post much, but I do watch all your videos. Before this issue was made public I tried to give everyone my thoughts on the new 10 speed. I was questioned and even laughed at, whatever. I test drove 14 different 2020's from 3 different dealers when searching for my next truck, even pre ordered the Tremor. While waiting for my Tremor to arrive I did my testing, all but 3 trucks shifted like crap 1st-3rd. Hard upshifts and even worse downshifting, my wife would turn and look at me and say are you sure you want a 2020, when I would ask the salesman what's up, for the most part they said it was either normal or it would go away, at the end I cancelled my order and bought a leftover 2019. 42k miles and cant be happier. I will however end up with a 2022 or 23 just depends what the market looks like. Funny thing is, my 2019 is worth $21k more than what I paid for it, even with 42k miles, unreal!

I have 4 recalls and a few reprogramming recalls for the emissions that I have never completed and a few service bulletins never done by the dealer. I performed the service bulletins myself on my own dime in the driveway. No way in hell will I let a dealership work on my truck let along the emissions software. Well the good thing with ford, they offer revised parts and fixes to problems. When your 10 speed is overhauled it gets updated with revised parts. Ive been doing CDF drums, and planent cylinders, valve bodies. Etc here lately ive been seeing incorrect T3 shim measurements from the builder causing planets to grind together more so 10R80 f150s. A good trans tech that knows whats up will have your 10 speed fixed. I only overhaul i never replace unless its over 120,000 miles. Only problem ive seen with “revised parts” is the 6R80,6R140 overdrive clutch drum friction weld leaks or breaks completely.

No issues yet on my June 2020 build F250 KR. Early on it had a bit of a firm 1-3 shift but that has lessened or totally disappeared after towing for about 7K miles in the last year. On the fence about taking advantage of the customer satisfaction program on the planet carrier needle bearings... don’t trust the local dealers to do the work mainly because they are not aware of the work, and I’ve had less than optimal service work performed there in the past. Plus, I haven’t received a letter from Ford yet.🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

My F550-2020, 6.7L Diesel, the 10R140, under 17k miles, 10-speed transmission downshifts roughly (at times) when in tow hall & towing RV 5th wheel, not from 10th but maybe jumps (skips) from 8th or so to a much lower gear. Happens unpredictable but when towing a 20K lbs RV. Have not noticed it jump or skip down. But that may give me a thing to watch for. I just feel the slam and the rig shake - slow down. Think it has occurred on longer trips, not on short 60 - 90 minute drives. My VIN - F550 Truck is not covered under the CSP 21B03, It is a month newer. I have an appointment in 2 weeks to ask a dealer to take a look. but they are telling me if they can't duplicate they can fix it and will ask me what I want them to do :(

I have a 21 6.7 F550 with that 10r140. 155,000 miles on it. The transmission is slipping in 10th gear while under load. I pull a 53 foot flatbed car trailer that weighs 7700 pounds empty. If I run in ninth gear, I don’t seem to have a problem but once I’m in 10th gear and starting to pull a slight grade, the transmission starts to slip and the RPMs jump about 2 or 300 RPM and the truck jerks, but as soon as I come off the accelerator it goes away. I took it to my transmission shop in Temecula California. The technician could not replicate the slip in 10th gear because he did not have my trailer. So they decided to replace the valve body. I picked the truck up from the shop on 6/1, loaded two vehicles on the trailer and started heading east. The transmission felt fine until Flagstaff Arizona, where I decided to once again, slip in 10th gear. I decided to continue on with my trip, and the truck ran fine until Springfield Missouri where it decided to start slipping more often in 10th gear. I talked to my transmission technician on the phone multiple times and he’s called other transmission shops that he’s worked with in the past and they are not sure what it could be. I will be reloading in Ohio and heading back to California to drop the truck back off at the transmission shop so that they can fully pull it apart and see what the problem is. From what I’ve read on the inter-webs, the only thing I can discern is that it might be the torque converter the oil pump or the clutch pack that holds 8th 9th and 10th gear. any insight from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Truck is not presenting any DTCs

@@ColeyCLogan shuttle shifting is when the ecm doesn’t know which gear is best suited for the speed the truck/car is traveling at. Another phrase people use to describe shuttle shifting is that the transmission is “hunting” for the right gear to be in. Early 90’s Ford transmissions were notorious for this as well.

I believe on the super duty it's only a plug, no dipstick. You have to pull the "overflow" plug on the left side at temp while running an make sure it has a drip to be considered "full." Kind of similar to the cars. I could be wrong but I serviced 10 speed super duty that went thru high water a couple months back and that's how the workshop said to check it.
