Bill Hicks and his brother had plans to operate a production company they'd named, "Arizona Bay." Bill and Maynard (TOOL's vocalist) became close friends during what would be the last 3 years of Bill's life. After being diagnosed with cancer, he died within 24 months of the diagnosis. The name of the song AENIMA is a conflation / combination of, "Animus" (the rational mind or consciousness) and "Enema" (cleansing of the colon). The "Arizona Bay" reference is from a comedy bit Hicks did that centered around how Bill hated L.A. / Hollywood culture and his desire to see California slide off into the ocean. Maynard shared Bill's dislike of L.A., so in loving memory of his dead friend, he wrote AENIMA's lyrics. The entire album is dedicated to Bill Hicks.
When I bought this CD back in the 90’s, the CD art included a lenticular image that animated to show Southern California disappearing into the ocean, revealing “Arizona Bay”. One of my favorite quirks of one of my favorite albums.
Every generation brings back culture from the past because they don't realize they already have their own identity. In the late 80s and early 90s, in my day, fashion and culture from the 60s was popular again so much that there were songs from 1967 that went back on the Top 40 countdown again just out of nowhere.
Not on board with scientology. To each their own and all, but it was created and based off of the writings of a science fiction author. Science fiction. Keep that in mind, but again to each their own. As long as you're not hurting anyone or belittling anyone, if it makes you feel good do it.
That’s what I heard, it’s a science fiction novelist creation. It sounds absolutely insane, but to each their own. If you aren’t hurting anybody or abusing children then have it. Whatever brings a person peace. It’s all good.
Another great reaction bud. He's taking shots at LA, but ya, he's really taking shots at humans again, which he's not shy about doing 😂. Cheers bud! 🤘🏼👁🌀
Bill Hicks is excellent. Check out Rant in E Minor, Revelations and Bill Loses It in Chicago 😂😭 Great song, one of my top 10 Tool tracks Check out Third Eye for sure, not only my second fave but it’s introduced by Bill Hicks. Also Reflection is the best song ever
Nice reaction. Question for the floor. What’s with the breathing? Is it because he’s getting ready to swim? 46 & 2 is one of their most well-known tracks and is off this album. But I’m very partial to Eulogy. Tool does not like hypocrites!
It's so funny you started talking about getting tattoos and piercings and doing stuff to "be an individual" but it's what everyone else does... You HAVE to listen to Hooker with a Penis. Don't worry it's not literally about either of those things, but rather Maynard calls out people for doing exactly what you're talking about!
Love Idiocracy. It reminds me of better times when you could say anything you wanted without offending everyone. When people had a sense of humor Gone are those days.
@@dadwhatsfordinner at that moment no because I was listening to the awsome song being played. Some people just have to listen to their own voice so much🤷♂️

I’m 57, white and “boring” too. We would be great friends. Glad you spoke up and shared your thoughts.. nothing ever wrong with saying truth
Maynard actually commented that Idiocracy was no longer a comedy film but a documentary, specifically about Trump
Haha that’s awesome. I haven’t watch that film in years. It probably won’t be funny, but almost scary how similar it is to current times.
Maynard was obviously wrong again. Biden is the true totalitarian idiot. Maynard, after removing his fist should pull his head out of his ass.
I've been calling Idiocracy a future documentary for so long. Makes me happy to hear it's a thought echoed out in the world. 😊
@@dadwhatsfordinner I actually haven’t seen it lol
Biden is the biggest idiot of all time PERIOD

Idiocracy is the name of the movie. Try "Stinkfist" from the same album.
Yes! I could not remember it. Thanks!
From the same album, check out Eulogy or Stinkfist and especially forty six & 2

Ah, but a lot of people do suffer in scientology - financially, physically and emotionally.
Check out A Perfect Circle live on Leno doing 3 Libras
The letter "Æ" represents the "ah" sound... think words like have, can, task ect...
Ah ha. I see. Thanks!

I was laughing at your intro video 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
TOOL IS FOREVER!!!
It’s a little Martin (Jerome I think) and my kids. Something random I made. Now it’s here to stay lol
Arizona bay...he's referring to flushing CA into the ocean.. which would then make Arizona a coastal state.
Nice reaction. Question for the floor. What’s with the breathing? Is it because he’s getting ready to swim?

Just guessing.
At 4.25 you`r searching for answers whether Maynard put you in a box or not.
I know I did.
I was actually looking at the song lyrics on my phone. Probably got a text from my wife or something too lol
I think it's OK to chit on Scientology. Lol
Hahaha true. I try to be nice though lol
No, you're right. It's a cult.
ah-na-mah
Thanks!
Learn to swim. LOL. ✌️
Eulogy next please!
😂

If it wasn't for L.A. Bill Hicks would have no material

Gone are those days.
So true. We were truly lucky. We could laugh and actually learn something.
idiocracy
Than you!
Paused it for 2 minutes to tell a non related story from work 🥴🥴🥴 SMH come on guy???
I told an unrelated story from work? Maybe you weren’t paying attention or wrong video. Lol come on guy?
