Well from what you said. You will definitely love the rest of there music. They don't have a bad song. And you did great, by the way. Wonderful reaction. I'm glad you enjoyed them. They are the greatest band of all time in my opinion. And have meant a lot to me in my life. Enjoy the journey.
Keep reacting to TOOL. The army will be here for it. Aenema was a good starting point. I would suggest The Pot next. That’s another great entry point. Congrats on finding the rabbit hole. Buckle up for a ride.
If that was your very first Tool experience: very well done. Definitely not dipping your toes in. The Ænema track can be a little "harsh" on the ears of the uninitiated. Tool uses their instruments to express feeling, emotion and ideas as much as they do through lyrics. They're masters at both. It'd be great if you continue to explore more of their music. I'll watch and cheer you on. ✌️
Welcome to the deepest rabbit hole in music history. Greets from Germany! Try "The grudge" next, the opener of one of the greatest rock albums ever recorded.
Tool Army present....this is one of the greatest Rock Metal bands you will ever hear.....very deep, very, very cerebral, and realize, the song you just reacted to is 26 years old....Well done girl!
I Had this album when it was new in '96. Had no idea what I was hearing, never really got into them. Flash forward to 2020 and I hear 'Lateralus' for the first time 🤯. I was hooked and just went to my first tool concert on Jan 15th for Adam's birthday (tool's guitarist) . Tool is musical art at its finest, the tool army loves watching people discover tool for the first time. If you tool they will come.
I subscribed because you played Tool and did it right. Lyrics and studio version. Now more! All the songs are poetry and genius and no band can come close. Put a blindfold on, grab a dart, and toss at a wall of Tool songs and you will hit a masterpiece. Trust me.
I just saw Tool in concert my 4th time seeing them live. San Diego show 01/19/22 I had 5th row floor seat center section it was awesome as always!!! I even bought a concert poster signed by the band.
Great first experience to TOOL, Sara; especially since this is one of their more straightforward songs. I want to get back to the song in just a moment. First, I just want to give you a quick suggestion. When you are able and ready to listen to their song Pneuma, make sure to watch the Live Danny Carey drum cam view video. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IN THE LEAST! Now, I just wanted to give you a little more background to this song (and album) to let your mind chew on. Although, TOOL is listed as a band from Los Angeles, they were only formed there. The lead singer, Maynard James Keenan, moved to Arizona because he couldn't stand the superficial, hypocritical culture in L.A. The album, especially this song, was written as an homage to a friend of the band, the comedian Bill Hicks who died from cancer. In a famous stand-up bit from Bill Hicks, he expresses how he would like to see L.A. be swept into the Pacific Ocean by some natural disaster. With L.A. gone, a formerly land-locked state would now have oceanfront property and this new body of water would be Arizona's bay, hence Arizona Bay. Again, Maynard's lyrics were really a dedication to his friend Bill Hicks but, as all TOOL songs, the lyrics are so layered, filled with double entendres, and thought provoking that you would never stop gleaning new insight into the lyrics, music, and, most importantly, your life. WELCOME TO THE TOOL ARMY! GET READY FOR THE MOST ENLIGHTENING MUSICAL RIDE YOU WILL EVER BE ON!
@jek 48 My apologies, jek 48. I didn't mean to give the impression that I saw the video before listening to the album the day it was released. I was trying to point out, unsuccessfully, that once Sara had progressed from early catalog up to Pneuma, she will have an appreciation for Danny's skills and be amazed at the cohesiveness of the band.
@@powderworks No need to apologize at all. I just wanted to make sure it didn't happen that way. The 2 Tool reaction mistakes that are made that bother me personally are that one, and then when they watch the Forty Six & Two lyric video with all the explanation behind the lyrics. While that lyric video is VERY informative, the first time watchers completely miss out on a lot of the best musical parts of the song because they're too busy reading about the meaning behind the lyrics.
Great reaction. For the next Tool Song I recommend listening to Parabol/Parabola but make sure you don't listen to them in separate videos. They are one song and you don't want to screw up the transition. I wouldn't recommend the music video at first because it's EXTREMELY distracting but it's also really cool and has both the songs together. There are a couple lyric videos out there or you say screw it and watch the music video. It's an incredible song.
If you wanna do another Tool song, "Sober" is a good one. The video is a trip of it's own. But yeah, it's good to read the lyrics for Tool; there's usually a message and it's not always easy to make out the vocals.
I feel this needs a bit of context. The album "Ænima" (the song you heard it's spelled diferently, "Ænema") was dedicated to Bill Hicks, one of the most philosophical and controversial comedians in the 80's and 90's. The band were fans and friends with Bill and after he died at age 32 due to a pancreatic cancer they wanted to honour him. This song is based on one of his routines ( this one: ruclips.net/video/IU1SPAliETk/видео.html ) and the last song of the album, "Third Eye" also has two samples of him performing other routines. Tool is a very complex band, both musically and lyrically, often compared to Pink Floyd because of that and the uniqueness of their sound. Hope you keep discovering them and enjoying yourself.
So many people have that same impression that Tool is screamy metal. They do have a song or two where they approach that but the overwhelming majority of their tracks aren't that way. This song is even more on the harsher side of their music lyrically and with the industrial sounds with the heavy grunting/breathing thing. As others have said they don't really have a bad song, but I would argue they have many better ones than Aenima, and I love this song.
Tool lyircs are really well done, but they can be really in-depth/deep so it's often best not to figure out what's going on. In some songs (like "Forty-Six & 2"), it might be worth it to read what the song is about BEFORE you listen to it. By far, though, the music is the best part about Tool.
And watch lyric videos, not official videos. The official videos are just too distracting and usually have very little to nothing to do with the what's happening with the song.
Not sure if this is mentioned below or not but this is based on a comedy skit by the late Bill Hicks called Arizona Bay. He basically talks about how he hates the superficialness of LA etc etc...and that it California should just be washed away leaving "Arizona Bay". I've seen that the song more portrays a more global look towards the idea. Great reaction, and keep going the rabbit hole goes deep.
Good call going with the lyric videos. The one exception I'd make with Tool is the song Sober, which is best experienced via their live performance at the Reading Festival.
You should keep doing Tool. They're the reason I'm seeing and commenting on your video. It showed up in my feed as suggested, so here I am. I like watching others react to Tool... it's literally a mental adventure. "Close your eyes and go there..."
You would love “pneuma”!! And then they have a LIVE DRUM CAM with drummer DANNY CAREY LIVE IN CONCERT!! AMAZING!!! So “pneuma” audio and then the dum cam, you’ll thank me later. Keep spiraling out with 👽🔥TOOL🔥👽
Try one of there newer songs Invincible is a masterpiece among many. Read up some of the meanings about there lyrics they go as deep as you want them to go .Enjoy the ride They are one of the Best bands ever and thats from a 57 year old man who has seen Many many bands
It's funny how you managed to dive right into pissed off Maynard. Try the song So long and thanks for all the fish by A Perfect Circle its one of Maynard's other bands
Thank you for listening, actually listening, to the whole song first and then giving your review. No song is ever better broken up so you can yell at the camera. Listen to the song and go back after to highlight key parts.
Are you kidding me? This was one of the best first Tool reactions ever. Whoa! I now see you dove into Schism. I would've done something like, The Pot next. But hey, Lyrics will definitely help you stay engaged. Anyway, see you there. Buckle up!
Tool uses tempo timing and sound placement to move u along or make u feel uneasy happy sad ..to inasense cause an emotional response ..they are all masters of there instrument and Maynard's voice is as much an instrument as the drums or guitar.. Good job ..they are a very intelligent band that if u arnt ready for ..ppl miss its complexity
I agree. This is Jay, btw. I've seen Tool at least 5 times, maybe 6. Every time it had it's own different feel to it and gave me different feelings each time. We'll get to some live Tool here soon. Sara's about to jump in studio in a few mins to do a couple more Tool, but studio versions. What live Tool song would you like her to react to and I'll put it in cue?
You don't sound stupid, Maynard shares his life's journey through his lyrics. I say that knowing that he has said this explicitly lol. Every song is a bit different, spiral out!
TOOL… Each song sounds similar with the same droning bass lines and heavy guitar with not much melody. Not much feeling or passion, nothing delicate and beautiful. No keyboards or saxophones or any other instruments to give it flavor. Heavy drumming that has no melodic rhythms and use of different tones to created texture and feeling. Once I heard one song from Tool, every other song for three hours sounded the same. The visuals are boring as hell. Just patterns waving like you’re on LSD, nothing interesting No story telling in the images. Just the same crap for the entire show. I find Tool to be a very boring show from start to finish. Can hardly understand the lyrics and the hair style looks like some punk on crack. You couldn’t pay me to go see them twice. I’ll take Pink Floyd, Kansas, Yes, Supertramp, Rush, ZZ Top, Santana………
Tool doesn't make music, they make art. Spiral out young lady. 🌀👆
Yessss. More Tool! If you like songs with a message... Do Tool - The Grudge
Well from what you said. You will definitely love the rest of there music. They don't have a bad song. And you did great, by the way. Wonderful reaction. I'm glad you enjoyed them. They are the greatest band of all time in my opinion. And have meant a lot to me in my life. Enjoy the journey.
Thank you so much! I’m excited to discover more songs!
Keep reacting to TOOL. The army will be here for it. Aenema was a good starting point. I would suggest The Pot next. That’s another great entry point. Congrats on finding the rabbit hole. Buckle up for a ride.
Thank you! I will definitely keep reacting to TOOL and I’m excited for the journey!
Great reaction You should do The Pot next.
Yes

Subbed for the Tool. Keep going. It'll change your life.
Welcome to the deepest rabbit hole in music history. Greets from Germany! Try "The grudge" next, the opener of one of the greatest rock albums ever recorded.
Oh ya, the hook is set. I can see another great appreciation for the magnificence of TOOL. Sara get ready for the musical ride of your life and enjoy.
Definitely more Tool. Good job! ✌🏼
Tool Army present....this is one of the greatest Rock Metal bands you will ever hear.....very deep, very, very cerebral, and realize, the song you just reacted to is 26 years old....Well done girl!
Welcome to the Tool Army Sara ,Tool is life an full of real meaning & surprises as they will take you on a journey ,enjoy!😎
Great reaction!..👍
Thank you so much! Seems like a really great community so far! I’m excited to listen to more!

Never watch the live video of Pneuma first. You should have heard the studio version to fully appreciate the live video next.

There is a reason people want reaction videos of TOOL and that reason is this video right here. TOOL is the epitome of "If you know, you know." 🖤🤘🏽
More TOOL! They are full of life lessons, surprises and poetic lyrics. I think you would like Lateralus or The Grudge for your next reaction.
If you wanna do another Tool song, "Sober" is a good one. The video is a trip of it's own.

Thank you for the context, I had no idea! Definitely helps me appreciate and enjoy the song even more!
Every Tool song has a message. Usually to be a better person. Looking forward to more.

Poetry...exactly. MJK is a brilliant lyricist. Such a unique way of weaving words and syllables
You did great! Do more Tool, it sounds like they are right up your alley...
Thank you! I think they are too! I’m excited
Welcome, to the TOOL Army!
Sara, do more Tool and you won't be Blue. You ok girl.
#ToolArmy

The song Lateralus will send you spiraling. PUN INTENDED.
I'm glad you took a chance on this band. They've been my favorite for over 20 years
Welcome to T00L! Wishing you happiness on your new journey.
Welcome to the TOOL rabbit hole. Great reaction.

Amazing band and great song selection, this is one of my favorite along with the pot and 46&2.

Keep traveling down the rabbit hole girl… you will be drawn in… FOR LIFE!!!
Nice reaction from a nice person
Schism should be the next reaction song. DO NOT WATCH MUSIC VIDEO… will distract from the music.
It's funny how you managed to dive right into pissed off Maynard. Try the song So long and thanks for all the fish by A Perfect Circle its one of Maynard's other bands

A enema, as in flushing.
Ah-neh-ma

"Ah-nimmuh", or "au-nimmuh"
I get what you were thinking before you heard it
Sara how does that make you feel?🌝
Ahh-nee,mah 😂 your cute as a button.
The song is titled Ænema. Ænima is the album title. Get it straight.
I would recommend her hearing the pot. It isnt what these kids think but it is very clear. Hypocrites
Sweat.
Sober and The Pot are better tickets to the rabbit hole. Aenma...rougher passage.
🔧
👁️
🌀
its not deja-vu its lag 😐
(doggy approved)
You should listen without lyrics
Thats TOOL 🔧
Pronounced like Enema. Yes...the flushing away of shit for a cleaner future, lol.
Pronounced - A - Enima.
