- Aurora voters will decide on a ballot item that could ban pit bulls. Critics say the breed are dangerous while advocates say bans are discriminatory and will lead to the breed being abandoned.
A town needs a new mayor...
Norway and many developed countries have them banned for a reason.
Move there then..
@@justinesmith8050 Because we live HERE, and we're voting to keep a dangerous dog breed out of our town. You know, Democracy.
@@justinesmith8050 How about you move to a 3rd world country that allows them then?
Ban the sale, breeding and adoption of them. It should be no new pits. Banning existing pets is messed up, but they do need to be phased out.
Doesn't Aurora have way more important issues to worry about? Lol
Pitbulls are friggen unpredictable and dangerous and the people that own them tend to not be the most responsible people...
Same with chihuahuas..
@@justinesmith8050they are smaller than cats, there is no inherent danger to a badly raised chiuaua. On the other hand, a well bred and cared for pitbull is still dangerous and CAN snap, as has happenned many times before.
@@justinesmith8050 A Chihuhua bite can barely break skin. Got any figure on Chihuahua maulings? Has there ever been one?
I've used working Dogs for 25+ years. McNabb for the Sheep, AmStaff (considered a Pitbull by most) for the Bulls and Cows, American Fox Hound for the Hunt. I have also worked with a half dozen other breeds for shorter periods of time - I can tell you, there is no difference in the trainability or predictability of the different breeds, as long as they are fulfilling their breed capabilities. Controlled environment, specialized tasks, plenty of stimulation, and no dog is a problem.
Most dog owners, have no idea, or care, to effectively provide for their animals. This is what leads to the problem. Unfortunately, we can't outlaw stupid or lazy.
Breeds are not the problem. Pit bulls are some of the best working dogs out there, for large livestock handling, and cuddles/play.
Ok, then we will let the dogs be and put the owner in jail for criminal intimidation and attempted assault with a deadly weapon every single time their pitbull gets off the leash. How would that be?
@@curly__3 It should already be in apply. I'd want to see those pitbull owners explaining the term "its the owner not the breed". And when a pitbull attacked its owner, they were playing with fire, but usually victims are innocent people, kids and elderly that had nothing to do with this breed.
Stop blaming breeds. Blame the owner.
Yeah the owners are at fault for insisting on keeping powerful dogs they cannot control and therefore putting everyone at risk.
BS it is about the owners not the breed.
I'm getting real sick and tired of this lie, the "it's the owner, not the breed"
How come we rarely hear about poodles or labs killing someone?
And owners of pit bulls ALWAYS have excuses why their dogs eat people.
@@loopyshot3326 It's not a lie and you just proved it. Let me explain how not only you but 13 other muppets are lacking common sense. " How come we rarely hear about poodles or labs killing someone?" Because they are owned by caring, loving responsible people who show affection and they feed their pets on a schedule, and are indoor pets.
Back in the 70's I lived off 65th and Brentwood (Arvada) and down the street a girl from school invited me over to play in her new clubhouse her dad built. At lunch her mom called us in we ran up the backstairs and halfway up I was snatched by the stomach and drug under the stairs where they built a doghouse. Her Dad was in the backyard and got me and carried me in the house. Not a scratch on me, not even a ripped shirt. It was a Saint Bernard and we probably woke it up and it was just protecting her. Later in Junior high school was at a girls house and her lil sister opened the door and zippy or zappy IDK lil poodle thing ran in jumped on the bed and bit me in the arm ( still have 2 one inch scars ) on my left bicep. If that dog was bigger it would of tried to rip my throat out. Luckily all I had to do was stand up and step back.
Later when I was married and had kids we breed Rottweilers and then Dalmations. My other scar on my right arm is from a cat's claw. Almost had to go to the hospital because it was directly over a vein and wouldn't stop bleeding. If cats and lil dogs were bigger they would do more damage. .
It's both. The type of person to get a pit is typically a "don't mess with me cause I'm tough" type, and the choice of dog is an extension of that mindset. The dog is smart enough to mimic the owner in this respect, and so now there is a problem.
