Injection mold making includes a series of the complicated manufacturing process. One of the essential processes is the tooling assembly.
For a new injection mold, all of the tooling components have been machined well. The last process will be mold fitting and assembly. Mostly it’s a time-consuming job, which depends on the difficulty of the job and the skills of a mold master. For simple molds, it normally will take about half days or 1 day for the assembly. But if for complicate molds, it will take days or even weeks.
In the video, it’s simple rapid injection molding tooling. But it will take about half an hour for the assembly. We accelerated the video so that it’s just in about 3 minutes. And can see our skillful master assembly the A plate(tooling cavity), B plate(tooling core), ejection pins, ejection plates, the mold base, screws and etc.
In rapid tooling and low volume injection molding production, the mold assembly is more often. It’s because they are simplified injection molding tools, their mold bases normally will be for common use and shared with other injection tools. It’s for saving the tooling cost and eliminate the risk for start-up projects.
