    if I may get you a clue: when you unscrew a helicoid ( at 22:43) make a mark at the point when an unscrewed ring comes off;this way is far easiest way to later reassabling.Cheers.

      @diyextravaganza  3 года назад

      you have two lips in the optical assembly and two forks on the barrel, you need to align them, it takes some practice, check this other video ruclips.net/video/UZj-WPKyrLk/видео.html

      @@diyextravaganza Thanks. I struggled for 45 minutes! In the end I fiddled with the coupling lever at the bottom of lens until I finally got it. So frustrating! It MUST work, but it doesn't! Then suddenly it does.

      @@diyextravaganza I personally lubricated Helios 44-2 even in the cold -15 everything quickly and smoothly does not go dull.
      I compared циатим-201 with lithol and lithol is worse than the helicoid goes tighter

    Hi, thanks for your videos! To lubricate the focus ring that spins a little hard, would it be enough to remove the outer black ring like you did in the first few minutes of the video? Or do I need to do more invasive work?

    • @diyextravaganza
      @diyextravaganza  Год назад +1

      Hi, what you suggest is only a temporary solution. Best is to disassemble, remove old grease, clean, and then put new grease. Cheers.

    • @gfrancesc0a
      @gfrancesc0a Год назад

      @@diyextravaganza Thank you for the answer: I often follow your videos and I really appreciate your technical opinion. I have the opportunity to buy this lens model, and the seller told me that the focus ring is a bit stiff since it hasn't been used for more than 15 years. I wonder if I can do a temporary intervention, having no experience

    • @diyextravaganza
      @diyextravaganza  Год назад +1

      @@gfrancesc0a well if you have the opportunity to get this lens cheap, go for it. Then you can evaluate how stiff the focus really is, it is hard to tell without trying. In the long run, as suggested before, the best is to disassemble to replace old grease with new one. Anything else will be temporary. Cheers.
