Ok this was hilarious and informative. Too many comparisons of mechanical keyboards leave out membrane and scissor switch options, so I'm glad you included those. Where would the Aliaz Silent switches fit in this lineup?
Stabilized keys are Topre's biggest pitfall IME. With all the other work they put into silencing some of their boards you'd think they'd throw some lube on the stabilizers. When I got my 660C I was appalled at how loud the stabilized keys were, thankfully some Tribosys3204 on the stabilizers made them quiet down a huge amount.
I put cheap lubes on some cherry red clones with O rings and that is silent enough for me. I am more of a clicky typer but it is also good to have a silent keyboard in case future roommate doesn't like clicky typing sound at night
I just installed some Gateron silent in my GMMK and they are far quieter than any rubber dome switch I've tried. In terms of silencing I'm extremely impressed, though the keyfeel isn't as nice as their unsilenced options (a bit more scratchiness). Also, the thing that gets me with the Apple keyboard is how you can hear the keycaps rattle when you take your fingers off of them. To some extent this is also true of Microsoft's Surface keyboard though it's a bit nicer.
I retrofitted my K95 with Zeal Zilent V2 switches. It took my about 6 hours and it cost soon much money but it was Well worth it. It previously had cherry brown switches.
I've encountered another version of your #1 that was all a very matte, almost chalky feeling rubber. It was probably half as loud because your fingers don't stick to it at all.
That foldable keyboard tho. Hilarious. I used to run barkeep duty at a community bar where we kept wrecking keyboards because people kept dunking beer over them. So one day someone brought in a silicone foldable keyboard because it's completely sealed. It was an awful keyboard, but it's served me very well there. Also, you should consider making ASMR videos. This was a very relaxing video to listen to.
You completely missed the Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Wireless Keyboard. This keyboard is better than Apple’s keyboard. I use it at work because I can simultaneously talk with clients as I type at 120+ wpm in nearly silence. It’s weakness is that it lasts only about 1 year because the plastic parts wear out quickly compared to a mechanical keyboard.
To further silence the silicone keyboard, consider pouring some oil on it, sunflower or olive oil would do. Also you might consider adding some spagett to enhance the texture.
The Breast Implant wins for quietest and most disgusting. Also I’d be curious to hear your opinions on solid aluminum keyboards like the iKBC model. I noticed solid metal chassis have very good noice reduction, and there are some stock commercial models out there.
I used that plastic looking foldable keyboard many years ago and it was indeed the quietest keyboard I ever used. But the problem was I hated the squishy, inconsistent feel of the keys. Looks like I'm better off going for membrane over mechanical.
you gotta try a sidewinder x6, and absolutely definitely have a look inside. there's a reason they skyrocketed in price. the stiff, short stroke rubber dome sliders take some getting used to (unless you have strong hands), but they sound wonderfully deep and quiet, and easy to get hooked to. you don't wanna type a novel on it, but accidental key presses during gaming simply don't happen, unless it's your fault. it may also be the most complex and insanely over-engineered keyboard you ever popped open! the part ocunt is crazy, but it's still virtually 100% dust and spill-proof (the draining channels work like a charm), easy to open, and the entire upper half, including keycaps with sliders, 2 dials, and a row of media keys, can be washed under the shower (once a big soda spill starts to dry), dried and re-lubed with unprecedented ease. (mine has been in use for over 6 years of daily use, and is still alive) this is the one and only rubber dome slider over rmembrane keyboard, i dare call a mech.
I figured by the end of the video I can finally find something cool and quiet to bring with me to library, but I’ll stick to the silenced topre cuz I will probably kill myself if I’m gonna use that last keyboard 🌚 and yes topre’s spacebar is the loudest of all, and that’s why I put some time into mine to lube and silence the freakin spacebar so people wont give me that look...
XalphYT Follow this video ruclips.net/video/cD5Zj-ZgMLA/видео.html to band-aid mod the stabs, except we don’t need to clip them, and I suggest you don’t use dielectric grease on the metal bar and use more Teflon grease between the plastic pieces and between the contact of the metal bar and plastic, because dielectric grease are thick grease for topre, but the Teflon grease used in the video are pretty thin and will stay in place pretty good. I suppose you already have a topre that has those silencing rings from factory or you have already got some aftermarket silencing rings installed XD
XalphYT personally I removed my band aid mod cuz those lubed stabs are already silenced the spacebar quite a lot, also I suggest you squeeze some Teflon on those sliders with stabs too, it eliminates the wobble

Shift+f10 works passably I guess. I'd reprogram the key, but it doesn't register like regular input on any of the common mappers. The switches have a varying feel and smoothness depending on how high or low you hit a particular keycap. This isn't a huge deal, but didn't expect it. It seems to be a consequence of the Alps type switch design, since I tried a friend's vintage Alps Macintosh keyboard and it's keys also did bind slightly when pressing on the top portion of the caps. Otherwise the keyfeel is absolutely delicious. The sound is just about right I think.
