This is probably my favourite of Paul's setups in terms of drum placement. Every drum is close to you and you don't have to skip past the hi-hat to get from the high toms to the ones in front of the snare. Very ergonomic.

This is my favorite album too it's got some of the heaviest tunes ever produced, Disciple, God Send Death, New Faith! and of course Deviance holy shit I hear that I feel great for the rest of the day lol
these 'drum cam' videos are the freakin best....in addition to just being super cool, they show how certain drummers play certain things. as a slayer fan and a drummer I am familiar with Paul's playing. Each drummer has their own 'tools' they use, one of Paul Bostaph's 'tools' is the way he starts some fills. 1:18 visually shows one of the 'tools'. Involving that tom in starting that fill, something I've heard Paul Bostaph play for years and years, but a video like this puts a visual to it. Question: on the ride pattern right after 1:18, can anyone tell if there is a ride note being played on 2 and 4?
I think thats just a messed up normal thrash beat thats why the Ride sounds off, but it makes it groovier if you ask me. Same thing usually happens to Paul from Cannibal Corpse
Quite a workout! To try and put an end to the endless Lombardo vs. Bostaph debate : Lombardo was a trailblazer and an amazing drummer, no doubt. However, Paul's style fit in very well with Slayer. I would say that Lombardo will likely improvise more stuff, but during concerts, Paul's timekeeping is more precise than Lombardo's. I, for one, respect both, as they have been behind the drums for one of my favorite bands for decades.
Paul the new recording customs look great. I love how you have that 13" tom cranked up. Are those black-out Paistes? Great playing looks like you are in top form, brother!

Lombardo proved that when Paul stepped out in 2001, there was only one man for the job. But when Lombardo did the same they realised that Paul was in fact, the ONLY other man for the job.
I think Paul is amazing and so is Dave, I don't get why you have to pick one or the other, the fact is that if I got the chance to join slayer because Dave had gone I would of jumped at the chance, we should be glad that he is good enough to play all the amazing stuff that Dave lombardo wrote for slayer.
