Oh no, they are far too intellectual and original for the R&R hall, which is just about money. I would hope that the members don’t give a rat’s ass about the R&R Hall, but would be honored to be considered by the Song Writer’s Hall of Fame.
I saw DEVO LIVE in Sydney on 26/11/2023. Brilliant show. At one stage the Guitarist broke every string on Guitar. The bouncing balls. Booji Boy 'accidentally' tripping up the step as they left the stage. One of the Band members said "He meant to do that" In typical DEVO form, we'll never know.
Dave has a hard time tolerating ... well, pretty much anyone, really. But because the guys clearly didn't take themselves too seriously, he seems to have just rolled with it.
Letterman : Well, you're pioneers in video discs weren't you? Casale : Yeah, which means you get a lot of mention, but you make no money. The Plight of the Artist. And I'm not talking about the ones you now complain about charging the highest ticket prices imaginable. Nor the ones who are billionaires. I'm talking about the ones that take risks, might alienate their audience in doing so, who stay true to their vision, and what they're doing it for. The Artists. Who the Music Industry just scavenged off of, and said talent doesn't matter here. Hits matter. Hype matters. Who's in and who's out matters. The Managers who robbed them blind. The Publishers that took away their creations. The tour schedule that left them drug addicts or dead. You'd probably be more likely to survive a war than become a recording artist, the casualty rate is pretty high. And now it's technology. The streaming services that pay the artists next to nothing. The A.I. that can produce music and art that businesses no longer have to hire anyone to do. No more commissions. They don't even need "artists" anymore. They don't even need voice actors. Devolution is fact.
"So if you put it in the oven, you'll come over and stomp it?"... Dave's comment after Mark explained what happens to the Devo hat after it's placed in a °450 oven. Hilarious!

Devo Rock and Roll Hall of Fame please
Oh no, they are far too intellectual and original for the R&R hall, which is just about money.
I would hope that the members don’t give a rat’s ass about the R&R Hall, but would be honored to be considered by the Song Writer’s Hall of Fame.
It’s a great museum too and Devo belongs for sure.
I saw DEVO LIVE in Sydney on 26/11/2023.
Brilliant show.
At one stage the Guitarist broke every string on Guitar.
The bouncing balls.
Booji Boy 'accidentally' tripping up the step as they left the stage.
One of the Band members said "He meant to do that"
In typical DEVO form, we'll never know.
Very ahead of their time.
Dave has a hard time tolerating ... well, pretty much anyone, really. But because the guys clearly didn't take themselves too seriously, he seems to have just rolled with it.
Dave was the best. Devo was my favorite band
I LOVE DEVO >_< I LOVE THEM I LOVE THEM
Are we not men? Definitely with the trans movement nowadays they have to be reminded.
@@CurryRain why’d u reply this to my comment
Letterman was a good interviewer with people he understood. Clearly he doesn’t understand DEVO.
Mark is a super talented man.
We're all DEVO now Duty now for the Future Spuds!
"A man is real, not made of steel." Devo, Gates of Steel. Awesome.
The original alt rock band...way ahead of their time!
Still way ahead of time, it didn't happen yet.
Man that was an awesome interview!
"So if you put it in the oven, you'll come over and stomp it?"... Dave's comment after Mark explained what happens to the Devo hat after it's placed in a °450 oven. Hilarious!
I'm 61 and a machine operator and I write DEVO every day on the machine in the DIRT.... All these young guys are like what?😂
I saw devo at Northrup auditorium.
On the University of Minnesota Campus.
It was a great show
The Legend’s 👌🤣👍👉♥️love Devo!😂
Whip It (intro) has been my ringtone since my first cell phone.
They were the ideal Letterman guest
Gerald Casale is a good entertainer. Smart Dudes both of them.
Mark really turned up the cyber rotors for this one.
Back in like the 80s my wife and I had tickets to DEVO at the Paramount in Seattle but we sold our tickets because I had to fly to Alaska.
Mark had the Tik-Tok haircut before it was cool.
Real punks and nerds don't do what all the other punks and nerds do 😁
Zoomer hair mark mothersbaugh 😭
I have a selfie of myself with Mark and I treasure it.
