Handling losses well used to be a requirement back when you had to be in the same room as your opponent. Now people treat it like it's a superpower. It's not a super power. Losing a lot and understanding why you lost is the only way to get good whether you're at an arcade or playing online. Smug doesn't have super powers. A lot of newer players just have super weaknesses and don't know it (DSP, LTG, etc...) Losing doesn't make you a scrub. Losing while not learning anything makes you a scrub.
The only reason why Twelve is even considered bottom tier is due to a lack of damage and combo routes. Outside of that the character has high tier equivalent neutral and pressure due to long range normals, projectile, jump cancels and an air dash that can be done instantly.
He has some of the best neutral in the game, yet he basically can’t make pretty much any mistake. His low damage makes every game as him a huge uphill battle. Doing it though, brings satisfaction like no other character can give

Damn this Twelve is so cool. His back fierce punch (that axe swing) can control so much space. I think you can see what the developers intended here, a highly mobile, speedy character with above average normals. The sheer output coming from this guy is amazing.
That’s Twelve’s Fierce, not back Fierce. The button isn’t the best ngl, it’s super comital, only requires one parry and can become reactable if you get used to it. Somehow MyTwelve is using them quite well, which is interesting
honestly i think twelve is mostly considered a bad character just because of his damage, and people tend to overlook him because of that when he can do so much more.
12 has great normals, just can't convert for big damage He just has to win more exchanges, and because he's low tier, people are less familiar with how to beat him in the exchanges.

It’s crazy to think that Smug is a great SF player in general, then these low tier monsters appear to show you how much higher the skill ceiling is. This reminds me of Pierrot’s Remy, the God of Charge Partitioning.
Yea his rhythm is just so unpredictable combined with all the stuff 12 does makes it hard for fundamentally sound players. That 12 player doesnt even attempt combos because that would make them less predictable. I garentee there is a below average Makoto player out there that destroys that 12 player all the time simply because they understand his/her tempo

I wanted this version of twelve on Street fighter 5 and I wanted his V trigger to let him morph into a random character. Wouldve been so good had Capcom actually gave him some real thought. Just think how twelve couldve mixed his own combos with a random character combo using his v skill. Wouldve been so good!
I actually find it kinda funny how a player named "Smug" is such a good person! I loved seeing the respect between him and his opponent when his controller disconnected! It was actually a little heartwarming ❤
12 was one of my fav sf chars. I feel like I only liked low tier in sv3 Sean, 12. I don't know about Necro's tier but I liked him a lot as well. Then Alex, Hugo, Ibuki, Q. Were like everyone I played. Favorite being Sean/Necro.

Smug's just still relatively new to the game and doesn't have a lot of experience in the match-up. Twelve doesn't actually any winning match-ups, unfortunately, except maybe arguably against Q.

The thing I find with good twelve players is not to chase them, let them come to you and have an offense ready that's off beat, stop jump ins. And watch not to get caught in the corner. If you find yourself in the corner, be ready do deal with jump in loops.

I've played someone in the past on fightcade that taught me a lot about 3rd strike and just neutral and general just off one session. He taught me that even twelve can get in if you understand some basics and confirm some crazy setups.
In fightcade, you either fight fountains of wisdom or players who will eek out every negative emotion in you by being as obnoxious as humanly possible. I guess that holds true with any game but I'd rather get washed a hundred times by someone who lets their experience do the talking. (My comment definitely be going in the salt collection though lmao)

Twelve is my fav character in all of Street Fighter. I know damn well he sucks, but his air dash is fun af and winning a single round with him feels like a thousand victories at once.

He's not just fighting you with Twelve he knows the character back to front, Twelve was always complicated that's why many don't use him thinking he's trash. But he's good at taking out the trash too.

I had the same experience ~20 years ago... that's a hard match up against twelve. I also tried Ryu and it was also quite bad.

People be sleeping on Twelve and I suck at 3rd Strike yet I use Twelve every time I play it lol. It's really cool to just see Twelve players go ham and prove that the character isnt irrelevant (Story and gameplay wise)

Twelve is my fav character in all of Street Fighter. I know damn well he sucks, but his air dash is fun af and winning a single round with him feels like a thousand victories at once.
Update: seeing a twelve stun is so rare, this guy might be worth hitting up for learning twelve. For stuff that isn’t said in already existant tutorials.
