This is why I have completely signed off from Disney Star Wars now. The final straw for me were the Sequels. It wasn't enough to simply just ruin Luke, Han and Leia and then kill them off, the Sequels had to tell us that basically everything they accomplished in the original films meant a total of jack shit and it was basically up to some bullshit Mary-Sue to fix everything they all failed to do. Even Anakin's redempation and sacfrice wasn't spared by resurrecting the guy he was built up to kill only for Rey to steal his victory from him too. As far I care now Star Wars ended in 2012 the second George sold everything off to that snake Iger and co. Everything Disney has been putting out with the Star Wars lable slapped on has as much to do with Lucas's Star Wars as Amazon's Rings of Woke has to do with J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth or everything Kurtzman has shat out with Star Trek has to do with the the universe that Gene Roddenberry envisioned.

No one was more excited for KENOBI than I was. The trailer made me believe that it was going to be a great character study into Ben’s grief, PTSD, and him finding himself back to his faith again after having lost it. Where we would delve into the dark time period and see what it was like to be living in an era where Jedi are hunted. Where we could see Ben really struggle with wanting to help others but can't because he has to stay hidden. Where he's lost all faith in the force and himself and has to find a way back to himself.
Where we could see Vader in his prime and delve into what he was doing. How the years have treated him since he was put into the suit. How he dealt with the grief of losing Padme. How he's being struggling to be the perfect Sith Lord. There's an amazing comic of how Vader got his lightsaber that would have been OUTSTANDING to witness.
It could have been something dark and real and special. There was so much they could have done.
But unfortunately it barely did any of that.

Obi-Wan left Anakin alive on Mustafar because he couldn’t deliver the killing blow, not because he didn’t want Anakin to die. He expected him to burn to death. The writers of this show apparently forgot that and made Obi-Wan spare Anakin again even though Anakin was not mortally wounded.

      @Heartshapedbox81 2 года назад +2

It was pretty obvious from his face it's what he wanted to do but at the same time he knew all the Anakin had done with irredeemable, there's just too many things that could have been going with his head at the time wanting to kill him because of what he had become, wanting to kill him to put him out of his misery, even still wanting to save him, all the emotions flitting across his face in that moment and the show.... completely obliterated it without a care in the world, instead we get this idiot Grandpa with the same name as the character we know and love but lacking any similarity to any iteration of him, having to be led by the nose by a child and having completely forsaken the training and "religion" he'd stuck to his entire life, the Obi-Wan we know still even after everything was thought lost continued to fight with hope there were other survivors they could still warn and save inspite of how bleak a prospect before going into hiding, but what does he do? What do they have him do upon meeting another Jedi Survivor? They portray him as a coward, as some broken lump. you know what would make some semblance of sense? Is that instead they portrayed him with something we generally do not see in Obi-Wan that being anger, anger at being one of the last surviving Jedi, the fact that his entire order has been wiped out, anger at himself for not having seen this coming or having been able to save or stop Anakin in time, for having to be in hiding and for any of the Injustices he sees that there's nothing he can do about without drawing attention to himself, not that every situation should mean he draws attention to himself because we could still easily see him trying to do some good while in hiding, ya know because he's smart 🙄 and by the end of the journey he will have fully returned to the light and stopped his loss, anger and frustration pulling him over to the dark side with the help of his old master, but we don't want to portray any of that because that would be heroic and we don't want to show any of the anger because that would be toxic so instead we get this character in spite of the fact that he's a war hero, inspite of his years, his training, his diplomacy, his tenacity, his willpower, his intelligence, for the entirety of the show he is like a deer in headlights, or whatever the Star Wars equivalent is, it's absolutely f****** insulting.

Disney writers have the same problem a lot of horror movie writers have and that is writing characters that do things that most normal people wouldn't do. Rather than writing creative situations that make it impossible for characters to do the things that are logical to do, since, y'know, that actually takes talent and effort.

One of my favorite aspects of Obi-Wan as a character pre-Disney was that he almost failed out of the Academy and almost became a Peace Corp member, then Qui Gon finds him and takes him on, then he flourished as a jedi and became one of the best in the order. This series takes the failure aspect and turns it up to 11, eats it, spits it out, eats it again, then shits it out and called it a good story.

When Darth Bane gathered all of the Sith in a circle to perform a ritual and said "are you ready to kill a planet?", then proceeded to channel their combined strength and KILL a planet by striking it with force lightning and burning the entire surface to bring out the Jedi, that was badass and believable.
When the Jedi and Sith of the Old Republic could sway an entire space battle by meditating on their command ships, channeling the Force to their pilots, that was badass and believable. Why? Because even the Jedi of the Republic days admitted they were nowhere near as connected to the Force as the people in the Old days were. Yoda could barely stop some rocks falling on his head. But old Ben and Vader can just throw boulders around like nothing. It is goofy af, and completely disconnected from what Lucas and other authors set in motion regarding the rules of the Force

What's even worse is that in this very Canon already Obi-Wan has shown that he will kill threats to Luke to ensure they can never become one, or become a risk of them trying to turn him to the dark side or get interrogated by Vader. When Luke is on the line Obi-Wan does not mess around he is quite cold actually with dealing with them. Oh and in Star Wars Legends as well both funny enough with Darth Maul being that character used as the example. Both times they found Obi-Wan and Luke and both times they were eliminated by Obi-Wan. In written correctly Reva and Vader would be both dead, Reva for being a threat and knowing too much and Vader because he is a Monster with no redemption in Obi-Wan's eyes.

The fan edit of Kenobi was actually really good. If they do a second season, I’d want a fairly chill story about Kenobi finding more balance within the Force as guided by Jinn. Even learning to communicate with Yoda would be fun.
I think, too, that it would be the perfect way to introduce a live-action Ezra.
    My script for season 2:
Kenobi has a vision of Maul killing him. Jinn guides him to let go of any hate he has towards Maul and he explains the will of the Force in a way that helps him to understand death in a new way.
Meanwhile, Maul is seen looking for Kenobi via his methods as seen in Rebels.
Eventually, “years later”, a live-action Ezra meets an older Ben, and the events of Rebels occur with the addition of Kenobi seeing the reason for losing to Maul from his visions; hence why he changed stances and ultimately defeats Maul with no hatred in his heart, but instead being the need to protect Luke.
The series ends with Ben cremating Maul and the show recreating Ben seeing a teen Luke being called in by Beru.
Any “action” shown throughout are internal meditations of Ben training for his showdown with Maul being taught by Yoda and Qui-Gon.

    • @Maikigai

Also, most of your complaints I think from a lack of understanding that Star Wars, in spite of its name, is about internal balance. Everything is a metaphor for spiritual balance.

1:40 The healing hands have been a thing that fans have recognized through video games, novels, and comics. In particular Knights of the Old Republic comes to mind. But, the lethality of a lightsaber is something that Disney altered, and it's gross, and is something that doesn't slot in. From here on out, we know if someone encounters a lightsaber, they will make it out okay. It might as well be a taser.

There's been so much bad Star Wars that there isn't even an OT anymore. There's just Star Wars (1977).
Who knew that making Darth Vader into Luke's father would make such a messed up franchise?

Yep. After Lucas took over rewriting the script for Empire is when he started watering down the story, combining separate characters. shortening timelines and just in general beginning the process of shrinking his previously larger original concept for the saga, something he continued with in Return.

    Owen: what do you want?
Reva: Justice. I've been prevented from torturing a child, so in order to avenge the dead padawans, I'm gonna need to slay a child.

Disney making a show about beloved characters: Eh, it doesn't really matter
Disney making show about an obscure character who nobody cares about: *We can't mess this one up!*

The content of this episode is what I feared the most from the series, where Reva was going to have the opportunity to kill Luke and/or Leia and/or Kenobi, and *she* is the one decides that the events of the original trilogy get to happen by choosing not to. I was committed to this prediction weeks before it happened and everyone was giving me shit for preemptively hating Reva, as if that development wasn't obvious from the start.

So Obi Wan defeated Vader…again…and didn’t kill him this time knowing he would go on to kill countless others. I thought Lightspeed Kamikazes broke Star Wars, this is far worse, and far more deliberate. It’s the ultimate middle finger.

"A story where the story is already laid out, and still they couldn't get it right."
That is the best line that sums up honestly the problems with the prequels too. A lot of these problems come from the decisions that were made back in the day. The history and connections of characters were way different in my mind when all we had was the OT. Owen was actually Luke's uncle, and vader was really his brother who ran off to join the army and got caught up in something, and obiwan was never on Tatooine to protect Luke, he was just there and happened to have their stories intersect through a chance encounter with a couple of droids. I like that better than everything being so laid out and purposely being connected.

Disney could pay the top ten RUclips Star Wars content providers a yearly salary of 100k to provide consultation on the scripts. It would save the franchise and produce billions in revenue but for some reason they reject the fans. We're talking billions so they also reject profits. It's truly mind boggling.
