    Great vid thanks would like to see how you load the primers prior to running the press

      primers just go into the tube you saw. its the same boring tedious tube load that's been used for most makers for over 30yrs. Primer Xpress is the massive step up, which I have. its 10x better. no more tubes, no more primer flipping. it shakes itself and orientates the primers for you. Jus dump them in, and turn it on. it comes with sensors in the event you get a flipped primers too. Your PrimerSense censor should also catch it.

    Are you not running the main tool head spring near where the powder die would be located? How do you prevent the tool head lowering when off?

    • @almostalphas
      @almostalphas 3 месяца назад

      That spring is only necessary when running it in manual (handle on). M7 recommends removing the spring when using the autodrive. There's no advantage to having it, but I'm also not sure there's any disadvantage. I did send a tool head off one time knocking it off when the springs were in place, so I removed it and thereafter haven't had any issues.

    Can you say more about how you set the priming depth? It sounds like you have a case that helped with that or something. Would like to know more.

    • @andrewdow1609
      @andrewdow1609 2 месяца назад

      There is a massive allen set screw on the top of the toolhead in between station 2 and 3. Screw it down to set primer deeper, loosen it to set primers higher. I highly recommend you dial-in your hold-down die in the primer station first, as it too effects primer seat depth.

      @@andrewdow1609 Thanks but I should have been more clear. I was wondering how they determined what the ideal primer seating depth was. It sounds like they used a "Primetime cup", mentioned @ 11:50 in the video. I was already aware of the large allen screw that adjusts the primer seating depth. Thankfully I played around with that shortly after getting my press. The first round of ammo I made the primers weren't fully seated, and I was getting some light strikes. After adjusting that screw in a bit, it solved my issues.

    when will the 300PRC and 7mm be available?

    • @andrewdow1609
      @andrewdow1609 2 месяца назад +1

      Might already be. Check the Lyman shell plate guide, as its common for a single shell plate to hold many different calibers. Cross reference them. order the shell plate that fits it and you'll be good to go. I did that with 41mag.

    Apex 10 vs xl750?

  • @almostalphas
    @almostalphas 3 месяца назад

    Im interested to see the primer xpress video. I would say opinions vary from its fine (maybe overpriced) to an absolute piece of junk that requires so much fiddling and after sale modifications to the point that m7 shouldnt sell it. Myself and others would absolutely return it for a full refund if possible given how many headaches it has. From setting the incorrect orientation sensor being incredibly fiddly to not reliably flipping all primers before they get to the ramp, and then the whole concept requiring you to stop the press, grab some tweezers to pull out the upside primer from the ramp and hope you dont knock others out of the ramp or accidentally flip them. It is by far the most common stoppage/issue on my press. I wish i would have gotten the viking machinery primer collator for 2x the press and 1000x less headaches.

      @andrewdow1609 2 месяца назад +1

      Primer Xpress is a mid-range priming solution, so yeah, it's got problems. Make sure your press is level, or as I found out, slightly tilted towards you so the tray on the Xpress is tilted downward slightly more. I put tape in all of the corners too, to "round them out' which causes much less traffic jams in there. Mine functions better with about 300 primers in there. As a test, I tried 500 and it just gives too many traffic jams. 100 won't work well and neither does 500, so experiment and try it out. I'm waiting for Primer 2.0 in the mail, so we'll see if that makes it work better, as Mark-7 says it should. The onboard primer flip censor should detect it, if you put the plastic connector in right (above the primer disk) so it "clicks" into place and if you adjusted the height of that on-board flipped primer censor correctly. If it catches one when you test it, it will catch them all. I've discovered that its actually faster to ignore it and let it improperly seat in a case, and have the PrimerSense pick up the incorrect upside down primer, and just remove the case from there and put it back in the case-feeder tube to get de-primed. It's all about rounds per hour, so getting out those tweezers is not efficient. You end up wasting a single primer, rather than 4mins of your time.

    I can make a lot of bullets on my 4 hole for $10+k.
    Be good if you had a gun range and forced customers to buy your ammo and could pay it back.
    Or if you have serious bank to throw down.
    Not for your average Joe thats for sure

    • @almostalphas

      Avg joe competition shooter here. I reloaded on an xl750 before getting an automated apex 10. Nothing wrong whatsoever with the xl750. But I dislike reloading less now, and spend less time doing it with the Apex. So it was worth it for me, even if it takes a lifetime to see an ROI.
      Some people spend hundreds of thousands on a car when you can buy one to get from point a to point b for $10k. Doesn't mean one is right or wrong. People should spend money on things that bring them joy, or make life less miserable.

    • @andrewdow1609
      @andrewdow1609 2 месяца назад

      100% correct. It's not meant for Average Joe. also keep in mind that if you make and sell ammo, you'd need a license for that to be legal. I would not tell, but some disgruntled dickhead who thinks you ripped him off certainly will. I also don't think a gun club FORCING members to buy their ammo sounds like a fun place to be. I chose to INVEST in one because I'm old now. I've pulled the handle on my RCBS Rock-Chucker with Piggyback over 200,000 times over the last 35 years. In fact, I still use it for load work-ups, and then transfer those to my Apex-10. I'm approaching 60 now, so I don't have a lot of time left on this earth so I don't want to spend it pulling that handle anymore, but I still enjoy making ammo for a fraction of the price. I have 3 kids that also shoot, so I was going through ammo at a crazy fast pace. I have dedicated toolheads for 9mm, 38spec, 357mag, 10mm, 44mag & 45acp. I can cut costs massively by only buying bulk primers and buying only ONE powder too.....CFE Pistol in my case. I buy a case of four 8lb jugs at a time. I have no desire to experiment with different powders or bullets anymore. I know what I like and what works for me, and now I'm just cranking them out automatically for as cheap as they possibly can be. So for me it works.

    No 300 Win Mag option? Just 308,300 blk out

      There aren't consumer progressive presses that can load 300 win mag. The stroke length is too short. The closest you could do is a manual index Dillon 550c or 750.

      I just liked automatic features it had. I guess I'll have to stick to 1 at a time. It did have 338 socom I think?
      I've got a bunch of magnums 7mm ,300WM, the 30.06 is about the only one that isn't besides my shotguns.
      Thanks for answering for me! 👍🫂

      I just purchased Apex 10 in the last few days and I didn’t get anything free. Plus previously I ordered and received my revolution so kind of looking for Mark seven to step up and throw me something for free please.
