- The second part of the Islands CAL is now up! whooop whooop! The patterns in this blanket are inspired by the filet crochet heritage here in my native Iceland. This is the second part of 7 videos I'll be posting daily through the next week.
please note that it's no stress at all to keep up with me or anyone else during the CAL, we all just start at the same time and then everyone crochets along on their own speed.

I have plenty of scrap yarn, but I was wondering about how much yardage of the main color would I need. I will be ordering my yarn so if you could give an approximation for the largest size, this would be helpful as to whether I can afford to make this or not. I'm on a fixed income and have to be very careful with my money but I do love to crochet. I don't get out very much due to my health, but this nearly 70-year-old woman keeps trying to make it. This is lovely and thank you for the clear and helpful instructions.
Reading from the pattern, for the large Color A you will need 38skeins and color B 12 skeins. I hope this helps you. The large is 140cm x 170cm. Enjoy
Those are 50 gram balls, so halve the amount for 100 gram skeins.
@sallymenezes it's 30 of color A and 20 of color B, not 38 and 12. 😊

Meine Frage als Anfängerin ist nun. . ..kann ich einen Farbverlaufsbobbel benutzen und den Faden immer in den Reihen mit nach oben nehmen oder muss ich ihn jedes mal abschneiden????

En la punrada del lino las 9 carreras correponden a las filas de punto bajo o incluye la primera que se teje con puntos altos.
not included I think, as there is another row of half double after the 9 linen stitch rows. please someone correct me if am wrong

So the pattern says to repeat rows 2 and 3. But the video is saying repeat row 1 and 2. I’m confused
Is row 1 in the pattern the solid row of hdc? If i had to guess it’s the same instructions just numbered differently between the video and written pattern (i dont own the pattern yet though so im not 100% sure)
Row 1 & 2 in the video is row 2 & 3 in the pattern.
If you start a project with the linen stitch you will need a starting chain and that is row 1 in the pattern. In the video there is no starting chain because we build on top of the mosaic part.
Sorry, row 3 is the same as row 1, row 3 just reads to work into the chain space ❤️ otherwise same Hope this helps.
