Well put together and a ton of info. You bring up alot of how to run a race track please come back and show them how its done lol keep up the great work guys.
Were you a Facebook Subscriber? If so, we have moved everyone who was still engaged and active to a private group. Facebook subscription was not working and we ended it. We are starting a membership through software that works correctly and we hope to have it launched in January of 2025. All of our business files, videos and more will be posted in the membership.
Idk if you have covered this or not, but do you guys charge a markup on parts? I'm strongly considering a career change and I research things heavily before I just dive in and your videos have been super helpful so far. Thanks!
Yes, you will have a markup if you purchase a part and resell it. The percent varies based on the part, and if you have a wholesale account to purchase the parts from you profit the difference from wholesale to retail. If you are buying them at retail cost at the same place, the customer can purchase the parts, you will have a minimal markup.
You'll have a great time at the school. If you are interested in Marketing & Business information for operating a mobile RV tech business, you can join us for our next Facebook Live where we are answering a bunch of viewer submitted questions. fb.me/e/1UlvWllAH
Yes I have and know some techs that have it for a reference. I use the RVDA guide for reference for estimating jobs. I do jobs by time and material so the flat rates are for a general idea on so something I’m not familiar with
A question about business licenses..since you work in both MI and TX, did you have to get a.license in each state or is there reciprocity? How does it work? Also, in case you know, if I want to work in multiple states, would I have to get a license in each state? Thx😊
@cathyjones7590 If you do business in a state, that state will want you to be registered and pay the applicable taxes. Each state is different on how they have you register and some are not as easy as others. I had my accountant/business firm take care of this part so I don't have specific details on how to do the process. We have these discussions and a lot more info in our private Facebook. Since you are getting your RV Tech business started, I would suggest joining the group. If you click on the subscribe button on our Facebook page you will automatically be added into the group. Thanks for the vid! I'm a certified journeyman carpenter from the Carpenters Union and very mechanically inclined myself. What if i took the home course pro that includes the labs? My intention would be to get certified eventually, but would this help me get started?
It will definitely help you with the basic knowledge to get started. It will not give you the business knowledge, network of classmates and instructors and all the tidbits of knowledge you pickup from side discussions in class. I heavily relied on my network to help answer questions when I was stuck in the field when I first got started and we still help answer each others questions on a daily/weekly basis. So the online course will help you learn how to fix your own RV but when the pressure is on during a service call, it doesn't provide the support needed to answer your questions and move you along to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Thanks for the good information. I think I heard you're in Houston. I'm up on the northwest side near The Woodlands. Enjoy your stay!
Thank you George. We are in Pearland until April 10th then we head back to Michigan until next December.
Hello awesome video! Did the Facebook subscription files get moved to a new location?

Awesome info video! Where do you get most of your parts? From Amazon or local businesses?
It depends on the part, price and how fast I need it. Some from Amazon and the rest from part distributors like Pantera, NTP, Dometic & Lippert.
Have you Hears of the Spader manual on how long jobs take?
