  • Burt Wolf ST AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA
WATCH THE NEXT GENERATION OF TV ‪@NicholasWolfTV‬
St. Augustine, Florida is the oldest city in the United States. Burt tours the town, looks into the history of Henry Flagler who built a railroad that turned Florida into “The American Riviera.” He also visits Flagler College and learns about their Coastal Environmental project. St. Augustine was the place where the Spanish Conquistador, Juan Ponce De Leon searched for the Fountain of Youth. Throughout the program, Burt continues that investigation, with considerable success.

I have visited this city twice and will return. So much history. A beautiful city with a great climate. I have to come back again and again since there is so much to see. A great place to walk and gawk. There's nothing like it an American treasure.

I attended Flagler College during the 1970--1971 school year...I was fortunate that I had a bedroom and private bathroom by myself...I loved the college and St.Augustine...I hadn't seen Flagler College since June of 1971 until now...I am glad I could see it again and remember my time at age 18 there...I was Laura Boyle back then...

August 28th is the feast day of St. Augustine, did not know that. Also, that St. Augustine was the capital of Florida for 200 years. That fort is so amazingly built, cannon balls bounced off of it. I love all the natural beach. As silly as the fountain of youth, the water there is full of great minerals. It's a great place to visit. The archeological digs are very interesting. 1934, it was discovered while trying to plant an orange tree (how fitting for Florida). 1587 Christians are buried there (cool, did not know this). Some first job, huh, that beautiful Ponce de Leon Hotel, Tiffany and Edison were hired. Wow. Just gorgeous architecture, gorgeous tiffany, staircase, murals, George W. Maynard, the dining room, woodwork, Towers, water tanks, chandeliers, Grand palour, the tiffany blue, beautiful and fountains. His brother in law, Keenan looks like a beautiful soul. I'm glad they were charitable. Flagler is a nice college, there so much history. No handshaking in 2020, ugh. The smartest law, no building higher than 35 feet high, keeps everything quaint and beautiful. Keep the beach clean / carry in, carry out and no plastics.

This historic city is a real gem - in a state that is primarily interested in building resorts and high rises for the tourists. The Ponce de Leon Hotel is beautiful, andcglas it will be preserved forever. Flagler left a great legacy, not just in St Auguatine, but much further south in Winter Garden, Palm Beach, and the Keys. Glad these treasures have been maintained. Beautiful job once again, Burt!

When you live in Jacksonville Florida, it's fun to drive 45 minutes down A1 A and explore St. Augustine.

I have lived part-time in St. Augustine for several years and now am blessed to make it my home. I learned a lot from this video and love that I have a quality video to send to friends and family to acquaint them with my new hometown. Thank you Burt - I visited your website just now and feel like I just discovered a treasure trove!

The beaches are so well preserve in the city better than in Miami Beach and Hollywood Beach which always have a lot of Beach erosion during hurricane season.

That he sought the fountain of youth is totally untrue. British black legend.

Burt, how is it that U don't get that many views compared to one other RUclips video I know.. this is so well put together and points out the great architecture of both the inside and outside of the Ponce de Leon Hotel, the fact that free blacks started here (within the U.S.A.) of all places, & that the deaf and/or blind school is a BIG thing here. B.T.W. I was a 1998 grad of St. Augustine High School. I live in Palm Coast now, which is simply because my retired old parents decided to move/live here many yrs. ago. My favorite states R Idaho & GA. U did miss the fact that this city has a very famous chocolate factory & that Catholics killed anyone who did not convert to Christianity (forced religion) a.k.a. the killing in St. Augustine, Florida, of the Huguenots by the Roman Catholic Church

The St Augustine Record never reveals many murders that happen there. It's all about keeping this empty tourist trap with a squeaky clean image. Flagler college? What did you major in; basket weaving or volleyball?
