@@flameishstudios There are daily tours of the Flagler. BTW, Flagler (assuming this is not mentioned) was a real estate tycoon and if I remember correctly was influential in the development of Florida.
12:20 The original powder magazine. It ended up being too damp to store the gun powder so the location was moved to across the fort to under the northeastern bastion.
Funny to see a tourist tour. Lived there 20 years. Small city but lots to do. The Oldest city in the US. The fort has a look out fort at Matanzas on the intercoastal its free to check out. Matanzas means blood the battle between the spanish and Brits took place there I was told. Great food, local datl peppers grown there.get some sauce and fried shrimp at a local reaustraunt. my favorte beach is at Villano . Great place to fish and ride sme waves
Before Flagler College was Flagler College, it was a hotel made by Henry Flagler. It's very cool living in such a historic building and going to college in such a neat place. Glad you were able to see my beautiful town!
My wife and I live a few hours away and this is by far our favorite vacation spot. We come to Saint Augustine to her three times a year. Beautiful city, awesome people and relaxing atmosphere.
Sometimes when they take old gravestones away to get repaired and cleaned up, they leave markers behind to make sure they are put back at the correct grave, especially if they take more than one away at once. This is a lovely looking town, and something different to do . Nice to see old towns and buildings.
Love St. Augustine. Will be taking the family down on Memorial Day on our way to Disney. This will be my fourth time I think going to St. Augustine. Such a cool old place full of lots of history.
awesome tour of Saint Augustine. I love that place. Keep up the great work Tim and Jen. I'm going to Universal Wednesday and I hope you guys are going cause I would love to meet you guys
@TheTimTracker Excellent video!! Went there last year while on vacation. I would def suggest taking the trolly tour. Def worth it. It's about an hour long or so and going through multiple areas of town while an announcer says what it is and the history of it. There's a chocolate factory nearby. Across the bridge on the right side of the fort is an alligator farm. Hope to see you do a vid of Daytona Beach soon. ..place is spectacular.
Thanks for filming St. Augustine. I visited in 2003 and stayed in a Victorian bed and breakfast. At night i took the Sheriffs Ghost tour, which i can really recommend. So many good ghost stories and a lot of history. I hope to go back there one day.
I live in Orange Park, Florida and I went to St. Augustine all the time when I was a kid, so this video is very nostalgic for me. Flagler college used to be a luxury hotel when it was built in 1888.
We visited St. Augustine when we were in Florida in February and we absolutely LOVED it! Such a cool feel to the downtown area, lots of great shops, food, etc. We can't wait to go back and visit again!
I love how you can just hear the excitement in Tim's voice throughout. I am a giant history nerd and its nice to see people i enjoy watching enjoying it too!
We always stop in St. Augustine on our way to Disney. My kids love the Castillo. If you go back they demonstrate how they fired a canon when the Spanish ran the fort.
Awesome stuff ! Brought back a lot of memories , spent my summers there as a kid. Stayed in this area running around the boat dock, shops and the castle. Thanks Tim.
Love love love St. Augustine thank you for filming this Tim! Next time you have to do Ripleys Ghost Tour, go to the Lighthouse, eat at Scarlett O Hara's and stay at St. George's Inn!
Speaking of ships, there is a Spanish shipwreck 200yds offshore at Pepper Park beach in Ft Pierce.. in only 15ft of water and is apart of Florida's Underwater Archaeological preserve, should be marked by a buoy. I haven't been to it because I need a dive buddy, or a kayak. And a calm day. There's a plaque and cannon there and maybe some remnants of the ship (wood).
Tim thanks so much for the tour of St Augustine allways wanted to go there but now i can say i saw most of it. With my legs the way they are there is no way i could have seen it. Thanks again see you soon.
Hey Tim. Really appreciate that you came up to my hometown of St Augustine. Just kinda wish you had researched our history a bit first. Many times during your video here you say "Gosh, I wonder what this is" and things like that. Every question you have in your video is easily answered by most St Augustinians. When you say, "some of this stuff looks really old." I feel I have to tell you, Ponce de Leon and his crew were the first Europeans to set foot in what we call America; the year was 1513. Just for the record, that's 102 years before the Pilgrims landed in what became Plymouth. St Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied European-founded city in what we call America. The city was founded in 1516. For anyone visiting our town, I highly recommend taking the Old Town Trolley Tour before you do much of anything else. The live narration on the tour will tell you just about everything you need to know about our amazing city. It's a great way to start your vacation.
You are a real good example of a,great vlogger ! You are a real pro ! Such a joy to watch you and jen ! Hope uou get 200000 subs soon ! You deserve it !
They have alot of forts/castles like these ALL over Spain. I went to the one in Granada, and in Alicante there is a huge one on a mountain facing the Mediterranean sea. But they're all over. Thanks for taking us back in time, Tim. Reminds me that I need to go up there and visit every now and then!
I love St. Augustine. I went there a couple of years ago. I basically went everywhere you went. I also did a ghost tour at night which was a lot of fun. Keep up the great work and I just got one of new tshirts it's pretty awesome.
It's awesome to see you in St. Augustine. I spent a lot of time there when my brother attended Flagler. There's a lot history and a lot of spooky ghost stories.
Laffycake - we visit on vacation from the UK. Always (for the past few years) have a special trip to Pizzalley's. Already looking forward to our next pie in 10 weeks time !!
Thank you, Tim! What an absolutely amazing place! So stunningly beautiful. I love historical places. There is nothing better than an old building with rich character and centuries of stories to tell. Imagine if those walls could talk! And it's such a quaint little place. A whole lotta old Spanish history with a bit of a Caribbean flair. Most of the time you can feel it's Spanish heritage, but every once in a while, Dutch and English influences show up to say hello. Kind of like Key West meets Puerto Rico. I am putting it on my wish list of places to visit!
Fantastic tour! I've been to Florida numerous times on holiday over the last 22 years and never made it here. I'm definitely going to be checking this place out next time.
Love this video Tim, not had the opportunity to see any American history spots when we visit. We are right in the middle of the Uk and are surrounded by stately homes and castles - loved seeing the differences and similarities between the fort and what we would be used to here!!
I live in St. Augustine! Happy to see my beautiful city on this channel! I recommend you go to the Wolfs Museum of Mystery! It's super cool and it's only about $5 to get in! And make sure you walk down the side streets. There's a hobo who plays the Harry Potter theme on a flute! Lol

The Ghosts and Gravestones tour is an awesome experience! The trolley takes you to the old jail which is considered one of the most haunted places in the US.
Another post recommended the pirate museum, I do as well. The figures are made by Potters, and all artwork and costumes are done by local artist and students. Most of the artifacts on display were discovered in the St Augustine area. Other pieces on loan are from other areas along Florida's' coastline. All pieces are relevant to the history of the city and its connection with pirates.
Hey! You were right by us! Ding, dang! That first graveyard was the Protestant graveyard for victims of the plague, originally. They had to be buried outside the city walls, since they weren't Catholic. St. Augustine at night is so much fun! It was a luxury hotel before it was a college.

My family and I were in St Augustine Fl two years ago. I have a picture of my daughter standing in the same tower at the fort shown in the video thumbnail.
Really good video, as always. Next time you are there, take a look into how they built the fort from naturally occurring limestone coquina in the 1600s. The remnants of the old coquina mines are out in the St. Augustine Beach State park with descriptions of how the Spanish military cut the half-ton blocks and hauled them across the bay. Makes taking down the shed look easy.
for years ive been trying to get my husband interested in going to St Augustine but he just isnt. i love old towns that has a ton of history everywhere you look. i hope it stays in such "good" shape.
HA the pirate ship does booze cruises! I went there for my 34th birthday a couple years ago. The lighthouse was my favorite! we did a ghost tour and it was fun! Oh I wanna go back!
So, a year late but, a lot of St. Augustine is so old that there is probably always something that has to be done to repair the old gravestones, buildings, and or the plaques and signs on them. As, I'm sure you can imagine major rainstorms that we get in FL affect the historic preservation of the stones and other buildings. Especially, after Hurricane Irma St. Augustine had to have a major rebuild and dealt with a lot of flooding. Up till this year they have finally gotten the St. Augustine's Shrine graveyard fixed up. The town is still amazing though and definitely a must see.
St. Augustine is one of my favorite places I am a HUGE history buff. The trolley tours are actually cool because they are guided but you pay for all the places you go in and stuff upfront. I believe that is why there are different colors because they are different tours that go to different locations. One of my favorite things was the Lightner Museum the building was built by Henry Flagler in 1888. The art and architecture is beautiful and there is an amazing Turkish bathhouse you get to see too. And while it sounds cheesy the Fountain of Youth is pretty cool to go visit too lots of information there. And I also (although I hate heights) loved the St. Augustine Lighthouse. Fun fact! The fort was actually used as inspiration for the one on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney World! :)
