  • Larry King is a talk-show host who currently appears on Ora.Tv and Hulu hosting Larry King Now and PolitiKING with Larry King. He began his career on radio in Miami in the 1950s and became nationally known as the host of the Mutual Broadcasting System’s overnight radio program The Larry King Show which launched in 1978. From 1985-2010, he hosted Larry King Live on CNN.
Larry discusses his life and career and reveals that after a stroke in March, he considered suicide. “I thought I was just going to bite the bullet. I didn’t want to live this way,” Larry King told Frank Buckley Interviews.”I didn’t want to live dependent on others. I’ve had a full career. There is nothing I could add to it except just to do more. And I thought…I don’t know how to commit suicide. How do you commit suicide?” Larry also talks about what inspired him to keep going and about who he looks forward to interviewing in the year ahead.

Larry survived at least one major heart attack, quit smoking in the 80's, exercises regularly and added over 35 years to his life. His CNN show was on the air for over 25 years, then another 11 years working on various platforms. We lost a legend he gave us many years of intelligent conversation thank you very much Larry King!

Let me say this about Larry King. The day after Tammy Faye Baker died who appeared on his show the night before he said: "I know she is now in the arms of the Jesus she loved so much. "

I had the pleasure and honour of knowing Larry personally for many years....going back to 2006 when I was so excited to be in LA for the premiere of my new film that I had produced. A mutual friend of ours insisted we meet up with Larry and give him a copy of my film. And of course that first meeting happened at his favourite Deli in Beverley Hills for breakfast!
I've never met anyone like Larry, he's about as direct as they come! When the cameras aren't rolling he says what he thinks no holds barred... when he wants something he goes for it. And rarely takes no for an answer!! No matter who you are he wants to know everything about you as if you're the most important celeb sitting across from him on the show, perpetually curious. And he's definitely a big FLIRT and a true Lady's man!! lol But that's no secret, that's how he ended up being married 7 times!! And knowing him, I'm kind of surprised he didn't marry at least 4 or 5 more....he just ran out of time! He was either a glutton for punishment or an eternal optimist!! But really, as he once explained, deep down he was just a hopeless romantic...always searching for "the" ONE..the soulmate..... that exciting new SPARK, or maybe the forbidden fruit!! lol I think he was in love with the fantasy of being in love more than the reality which never measures up!!
I'm just so sad that he's gone. It finally hit home for me tonight. I tried to ignore reality. I'm never going to get another funny surprise call with that voice of his saying "Hi there... this is your secret admirer calling...what are you wearing???" Then he'd get put in his place and we'd have some laughs!! What a character!!
I feel fortunate that I got to meet the man when the cameras weren't rolling and he was "Just Larry." He was authentic and not affected by fame or show biz. Humble and down to Earth. One of the best memories I have was flying down to NY when the Friar's Club threw a huge gala in his honour and presented him with the Lifetime achievement award in 2011. THAT was such a great time. The Who's Who of show biz all showed up to honour him!! He was in his glory!! And he deserved every minute of it!!
The world lost a media mogul and show biz icon, his kids lost a super, loving dad who always put them first. His friends lost a very loyal, caring, amazing true friend. I just wish I could have had one more call to say good bye. He had a great life, he left an indelible mark in his 60+ year career. And a great void in his absence. No one will ever fill those suspenders!
I know he's at peace. He's probably running his own talk show in Heaven interviewing the two biggies.... God and the Devil!! Just to see who wins the debate!! The original opposing parties!! And let's not forget flirting and proposing to the angels!!
He will be sadly missed by so many, including myself and especially those who knew him well. But no one more than his amazing boys whom he adored more than anything in the world.
Bless you Larry for all you contributed to the entertainment world and beyond, rest in eternal peace, love, truth and suspenders, always.

My dad has had 3 strokes, one of them was extremely bad. His life changed forever. Can't even have a conversation with him anymore. He lost his hearing and speech. He knows what he wants to say but it just doesn't come out. He shakes a lot and just stares at the floor.

But the word does say, how can they hear without a teacher? I wonder if any of the ministers prayed with Larry. I know that Billy prayed for him. But who actually invited him to lunch to talk about Jesus. Who challenged him to seek Jesus and read the book of John. I wonder if he ever read the bible.

Yes be positive Larry. 86 yrs is only a number.. We ourselves can not determine how long we are going to live , only fate and God can determine that.
Sometimes old age can be very daunting, not knowing what life will bring. All that old age brings, O K if you have decent health . Stay with it , good luck

Larry has really nice teeth! You want eternal life Larry the answer is not in being frozen, it's in Jesus. You have nothing to lose by opening your mind to the possibility and the reality, really, that we didn't get here by ourselves. He promises, seek and ye shall find. Seek with all your heart and you shall find. Otherwise it's all vanity. ❤️

Frank, there’s only one man I was ever interested for you to interview and he’s done it here: Larry King. Yes, Larry interviewed himself here on your show. Quite frankly (no pun intended), I’m done watching interviews now that Larry has left. Nobody else brings honesty and sincerity I can believe in to their interviews like Larry.

I so enjoyed watching Larry's interviews over the years. He had an easy-going mannerism that allowed his guests to open up more freely to him. Sadly, however, he made the mistake of having to understand God's sovereignty before acknowledging Him... “My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." - the Lord God (Isaiah 55:8-9)
