I have a 606 in my landrover, things you need to watch, change the Glow plugs, whilst you have the inlet manifold off, pin the front crank pulley, my key sheared, took out the internal bore of the pulley, and lastly look to increase the water volume of your cooling system, these engines run hot when running hard 👍. Superb content
Thanks for the comment, I have ordered an set of glow plugs I thought while the inlet manifold was off its the perfect opportunity. I have looked at he crank pin kit will get one ordered its worth the price to not worry about it. I am considering between a rover v8 radiator and custom intercooler mount or td5 set up, also thinking about waterless coolant but need to research that more. Thanks Sam
Old man near me used to put a Ford Transit engine in everything he owned, the 'banana' one, because the timing belt was easy to replace and they used to be cheap. Your choice opens up new possibilities.
@KeetonMarine I landed here coz the RUclips algorithm.... I'll go and watch the rest in your Defender build series over the next couple of days or so 😉
Great video just subscribed and am now binge watching. I like your approach for lots of reasons but mostly because you explain calmly and in an easy way to learn without all the foul language normally associated to some of these types of videos.
I bought a complete car, Mercedes E300td (W210) I could drive the car test the engine then sell all the parts I didn't need, I thought this was the best option for me, Thanks
Great point, I fitted a Bronze spigot bush but forgot to film it, and the rear main was dry so I decided to leave it for now because I plan on fitting a R380 stumpy gearbox this year and I'm going to change it then, at present I'm running an LT77 I'm not sure how well that will hold up to the OM606,
No the turbo was actually from another project its a Maxspeeding rods billet T25, the adapter was from DPUK is cast steel. I might buy a DPUK turbo later see how this one performs first.
I wanted manual because we do a lot of towing, the issue with using the Mercedes transmission is we would need to run an TCU to control the gearbox and then a divorced transfer box. We may use a ZF auto in a future build there are stand alone tcu's available for these. Thanks

Nice job 👍🏼
Thanks! 👍

Thanks for the subscribe, and thanks for the positive comment, I'm looking forward to getting some more projects filmed this year, Sam
Great progress. Coming along.
Thanks, hopefully we can move along a bit quicker and get it up and running soon.
Well done mate . ❤
Thanks ✌️

Did you not need to change the rear oil seal or spigot bush? Nice work.

@@KeetonMarine Keep the LT77 only if (suffix G and H) it's very strong.
Did you replace the rear crank seal ?
I haven't replaced the rear main it was dry and I'm going to fit an r380 stumpy later this year so I'm planning on doing it then, Thanks
How much milage on the 606
The car had 150K on but it did have a full Mercedes service history so that's good news 👍
Did you get turbo from diesel pump uk

r380, change for a zf please
We might go ZF route on our next build 👍
Hi,I would like to ask if its a good idea to use the automatic mercedes gearbox when doing these conversion?
