I wonder if the producers of the rings of power buy some of thier props from Amazon prime...they would do well to order a Gandalf prop staff, the one they used in the show..look too big and clunky.
I heartily agree! I wanted it canceled after the first Season but with all the side content these Terrible shows produce, it may be worth it to keep their landfill growing. I would even be okay with the Acolyte coming back for the same reasons! So our good friend Charlie never runs out of content!
Right? It's like.. if you hear goofy singing off in the distance coming towards your house, you get a chill like your heart's been plunged in ice, and all you can do is lock your doors, hope it doesn't crawl all over the outside of your house in an attempt to find a way in and if it does.. all you can do is try to ignore its presence and pray it goes away before it stuffs you full of weird jams and small fish and makes you sing. I mean, that's how I'd treat him, anyway. 🤷🏻♀
Me too! Always hated the Bombadil character in the books. Felt like it was a huge anchor on the pacing of the story. It's like a video game: your character shouldn't meet a god-like entity in the first act. Should have been much later added in, or preferably, not at all...
It almost works, though. Earlier this season Nori and Gandalf say they are looking for what they call a "Gand." Which is weird unless you know a gand is a traditional name for a staff. It's also probably where "wand" came from (warranty/guarranty, warden/guardian). So when they call him "Grand-Elf" it was probably just "Elf" originally and then the writers realized the audience wouldn't be following their wordplay that closely. So "Elf with a walking stick" became "big/old elf" instead. Edit: Huh. I looked it up and.... I was right, gandalf literally came from Wand Elf and Tolkien was being funny. A gand is also a walking stick or a staff though, so he probably knew that too as an English professor.
We saw Galadriel walk away unscratched from being hit with a pyroclastic flow, so naturally she is unaffected from being stabbed in the chest and then falling from a 500 foot high cliff. She's the Wile E Coyote of Middle Earth.
Falling from that height - shattered bones, massive bruises from tree branches, mangled organs, brain all over the place... they don't need the ring, they need a shovel....
Yeah the show is being very stupid, the characters that are alive in LOTR doesn’t mean they should be surviving their head being bashed in or something crazy
Also, referencing Goldberry in their song, even though there's no river at Tom's place in ROP and no sign of her besides her random voice and then Tom gaslighting Gandalf like, "what? A woman? No one here but you"
God, I absolutely love your Tom Bombadil. The way he shows up like a horror movie monster when he senses he's onscreen is nothing short of brilliant. Surprised you didn't mention how Arondir somehow survived when the previous episode seemed to set up him up dying. Did the writers somehow forget that he was clearly supposed to die in that moment?

Wouldnt surprise me if next season js Gandalf hunts his hat, the next one Gandalf gets his cloak, and probably last episode of the show they’ll remember about the other storylines and have him do a cameo next to Galadriel in the last 5 minutes.

Gandalf the slow, Galadriel the commander, Elrond the horny, Gil-galad the Gilgadaddy, Durin, father of Durin and Durin, Sauron the misunderstood. Yep just like in the "nonexistent" lore. Go heal yourself show!

The worst thing about the Grandelf bit to me is that it implies the hobbits are speaking English in the lore, when the actual word for elf they would’ve used would be something like ‘Nimîr’

I don't think it was the mining that made the balrog so upset. I found a archived thread on Reddit. Someone was asking how to deal with the constant singing that female dwarves do. Apparently one particular dwarf barged into his bedroom and shrieked in his ear. He seemed very upset.
