@@yourfriendintech yea sure if you are interested reply to this message I will create a good one for free of course lol and I"ll manage it as well you have come and have a chat from time to time when you are free so you won't have much to manage. If you are interested only lol 😄😄😄

I'm a freshman software engineering student from China, love your videos, it's hard to attend all these classes, and still feel like I don't know anything about code and what to do with my future. Watching your videos give me the strength to keep going.
You got this! 👨💻 You're still very young you have a lot of time to figure things out. Remember to enjoy the journey ✌️
i am wondering if john has his job now in Jan 2023
He seems like he does more work than other day in the life vloggers I’ve seen, he’s probably considered a “high performer” and still has his job
Thats what i came to find out.
Ayeee love it, office vlog again! Watching from Philippines❤️🙌
Glad you enjoyed it! 🇵🇭🙌
Not new here but I missed the first time you asked it.. Hello from the Netherlands! :)
I'm a student who is currently writing his bachelor thesis on CNNs and seeing these sorts of videos always gives me more motivation to work even harder, so thanks so much and keep up the good work!
Hello! 😄 That's awesome, is that what you want to work on after you graduate? 🇳🇱
Hey man, i from Brazil and I love to see your work day, thanks for that and keep going
Thanks Felipe! I appreciate that so much 🇧🇷
I'm a backend dev from Philippines and been wanting to experience going in an office like that. Most of my dev career is WFH and I feel so isolated at times. I want to experience those perks that I'm seeing from different creators here in YT.
The office is definitely a treat - I've been WFH for the bulk of the past 2 years and it was so nice to go back. With that said, I do miss the comfort of working from my own home and having more control over my schedule
Another excellent video Jon. Love your google campus videos❤️👌🏻
Thanks! More coming soon 🙂

Always fun and inspiring to watch these videos! I have a question Jon, do you have any other software project aside from Google?
Thank you! These videos are fun to make so I'm glad you enjoy them. I don't have any other projects, sometimes I'll write one off scrips but just for myself
Cool video! Hope you like going back into the office. Would be a cool video to see how you dealt with burnout or your routines to stay focused. Cheers!
Returning to the office has been alright, I actually feel like I've been less productive lately, but I'm still figuring things out! Thanks for the suggestions Chris!
I am a new undergrad. software engineering student from Nigeria, I really enjoy your videos, It has always been my dream to work with google and I hope to do that in the future. Watching your videos makes me to realize that it is possible to even work at google and other big tech companies

I'm from Louisville, KY and have enjoyed your content.
I appreciate it Chris! 🇺🇸
Hi Jon! Firstly on ur channel, its pretty cool to see such positive vibes during all ur video)
I have a question: As I know, HQ of Google and other IT-giants are pretty far from SF, right? Do u live directly in SF and take a corporate bus to get to the job? How much time does it take? And is it a bad idea to rent apartment near the office? I heard, there are not really good infrastructure & neighbourhoods for living, is it true? (e.g. in mountain area, cupertino, etc).
Hi Lew! Yes I live in SF and take a bus down to Mountain View. It can take about an hour, up to sometimes 2 hours if traffic is really bad (I avoid commuting in peak traffic times). I'm not familiar with living in South Bay (Mountain View area) but tons of people live there. I think it depends on what you're looking for in a neighborhood
what backpack do you use dude? looks super nice
Hey Matt! In this video I'm using the Peak Design Everyday Zip 20L amzn.to/3LwPVpM I actually just got this bag to carry my camera; for an everyday backpack I recommend the Bellroy Tokyo Totepack, I made a video about it: ruclips.net/video/bE5II7Ua7j4/видео.html
idk if those new Sydney opera house looking buildings are done being built yet, but that would be cool if you took us along for a tour of those.
I haven't checked it out myself yet but yeah that would be a cool video idea. Thanks!
love ur stuff bro!!! i´m from germany btw ;)
thank you! I appreciate it 😄🇩🇪
Hey Jon great vid! I was wondering what your thoughts are on the google certification program? I am trying to get into the tech industry but have little experience. I was wondering if the google certs or other programs would you recommend?
Hey gil! Unfortunately I don't know enough about which certificates to recommend. But I just posted a video on my channel about the Google Apprenticeship program that sounds right up your alley, you should check it out!
Yooo that was dope!! Thanks for answering my questions Jon! 🙏🏽
Thanks for asking a question! 🙏
Hi Jon. Greetings from Brunei and also what a coincidence that is name is Jonathan. :D

It would be so fun to ride those bikes around the Google campus 😍
It is! The campus is so huge it's a nice way to get around 🚴♀️
Thankyou so much,, keep going...
Thank you! I will!! 😄
Hello there. Your video is very nice. I have a question: You write code without looking at the keyboard. How did you improve yourself in typing on the keyboard? Do you have any tactics?
Hello! I've been using a computer from a very young age so I just learned how to type without looking from using a keyboard pretty much daily for the past decade 😅. I have a related video where I talk about my typing speed ruclips.net/video/bzyhOaYvdcI/видео.html
Hey Jon, I was wondering your opinions on living in SF / South Bay if you're coming out of college? Also, how bad/worth it is the commute from SF and do you feel rushed in the mornings? What are the pros/cons of commuting is my question essentially!
Hey Shan! Will you have friends out here? I think that makes a big difference when moving to any new city. Honestly the commute really sucks during prime time traffic, especially if you have to drive. I love living in SF, most of my family and friends are here so the commute is worth it to me since I only go into the office 3 days a week, my schedule is super flexible so I take the late morning bus and early evening shuttles to avoid rush hour, and there's wifi and tables on my bus when I commute so that's super convenient. The major con is that it takes hella long lol
@@yourfriendintech Do you have the option of still wfh fulltime, or is it mandatory to go in 3 days a week?
@@boredguy5805 Yeah I still have the option to wfh fulltime
@@yourfriendintech dope dope, thanks for the reply
@@yourfriendintech Hey Jon, I will have college friends moving out there too to South Bay (e.g. menlo park area) so I think I would go to South Bay so I have some people I know. Right now, I'm just thinking about where to live and if I should live with roommates or not and who. I was wondering if you had any thoughts about roommates? Or have you been living with your SO sine college? (I'll be at the Googleplex in August :) -- thanks for your inspiration, I was watching your videos through my interview process a few months ago!).

What’s the coloured text in your Google doc? Can you share examples of how you use this to manage tasks? Not sure what ‘punt’ is. Thanks! 😊
The color text is just a visual cue to help me quickly see what tasks are not started/in progress/completed. Punt means that I either hand it off to someone else to work on or decided that I won't be working on it due to it not being a priority
Hey Jon, greetings from Argentina im not a Software Engineer but I work as PM/SM for a software company here. Is all the food free for google employees? I mean everything you show on your videos is free? Google bus, Food, activities in the office. It's really cool to see that as that means a lot of money saved for the employees. Why do you think cultures between countries are so different?
Really enjoyed your content!
Haha Just watching the video and noticed you answered the Food question. 😅
Hey Tomas! Yes most of the perks are free! There are some things you can pay to use like dry cleaning services or getting a haircut on campus. I'm honestly not too familiar with other countries cultures regarding the software engineer industry, what's it like in Argentina?
hi jon,
Congratulations on getting the Internship, I was curious about the conversion interviews.
I got mixed thoughts on internet, some say they have stopped taking conversion interviews but some deny to the fact. Can you please elaborate on it? It will be of great help
Hi! I don't have any information regarding that. You can try reaching out to the Google Students social media accounts, they'll have the most up to date information
can you switch up a project? or choose what you want to work on or is it assigned to you?
It's a bit of both. As an entry level engineers you are mostly given projects to help you get familiar with the codebase and to grow as an engineer. Ideally you'd always work on things that you want to work on, but that's something that depends on your team/manager because sometimes there is no one else that can do the work. Generally as you become more senior, you have more choice on what you get to work on
Thanks for covering my comment Jon!
👍👍 Thanks for asking a question! 😄
I love your videos, and I’m from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦😉
Thank you Adi! 🇸🇦
And here is me... Waiting for your Google Resume video...🥰
I may release it in the fall since that's around the time new grad applications open up!
Very nice video 👍
Appreciate it Victor! ✌️
Jon, I'm in Chicago and hope to work with Google Workspace team one day.
Hey Steve! That's great, have you applied?
Since you work on the bus does that count as an hour of your work day? or are you still in the office for 8 hours?
Yup the time on the bus counts towards my work day
Hi Jon! I'm also at FAANG and I just had one of my ears pierced. I just wanted to ask if you have ever experienced something negative with having both of your ears pierced. I'm asking since I rarely see people in tech with piercings. Thank you
Hi! I haven't experienced anything negative, and I wouldn't have thought that I would either. The culture is pretty open minded here (bay area) I've actually had both my ears pierced since I was a teenager
What's poppin' Fellow Googler? Lol. I like to see all of the other office setups.
