I’ve been looking at this model for a while and after watching your review, I’m now convinced I want this engine! So, thanks! But that’ll have to wait since I’m getting the Berkshire. Speaking of which, you gonna review it when they release?
Is the cab light automatically turned on when the locomotive is standing and automatically turned off when the locomotive is moving? And if yes, do the functions allow the cab light to be turned on and off independently whether the locomotive is moving or standing? I´m asking because I wanna get myself this model, but I´m not a fan of a cab light that only works when the locomotive is standing, as I prefer to be able to turn the cab light on and off whenever I want. So far I haven´t yet found an answer to my question, so can you maybe tell me?
From what I’ve been told, there’s a button you have to press to enable the steaming whistle. Once enabled, you can see the smoke once you blow the whistle.
Excellent review. I have this locomotive from the first batch which came out in or around 2008. It doesn't have the smoking whistle, but I'm still happy with it and I'm impressed with the new version that you showed us here. I'm a fan of the smoking whistle and I'm glad it's becoming more common on steam locomotives from many scales. I also like how MTH improved the wireless tether on this model, it looks stronger and it might bring the locomotive closer to the tender than on the older batch. Although this would be an easy fix for anyone to do themselves, MTH shouldn't have had whitewall tires on this locomotive both in this batch and the first batch since the Southern Pacific GS4s with the small tender lettering had black tires.
I have a GS-4 from one of the first runs. The A200 is used on the crossing signal and the whistle is used when pressing the long, short, forward, and reverse blasts.
The engine does have smoke that goes out of the whistle while the whistle and horn is blown. Which gives it more of a realistic fine look at this product which looks cool to buy.
She's a beauty, probably one of the few non New Haven things I'd add to my collection if I had the cash. Quality camerawork to match, pan shots were great.
Impressive locomotive replica of the sp gs-4 in ho scale, these are very attractive and i now have a special interest for seeing one of these models in person, tom.
James Hunter tried that several times and nothing worked. Although, in watching back this video I did see the whistle worked during the station sounds sequence. Someone pointed out I may need the MTH control system to adjust the intensity of the whistle “steam”
The only small detail thats is wrong is on this the radius rod on the Walshearts valve gear. It was put in the Reverse postion on the valve gear. It looks odd when the model runs foward but the gear is in Reverse seen at minute 1:46
Is there a way to change the sound to make it sound like it’s using an SP 6 chime whistle like 4449 had from 1974 to 1990? I honestly prefer that whistle over the 3 chimes.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love that locomotive. 😍💯 SP 4449 daylight Express.

TrainStorm // Pere Marquette Productions yes, we have several of the Berkshires on order.
@The Steam Channel awesome! I’ll be watching it when it releases! Also, did you ever get your smoking whistle on this model to work?
beautiful
i have nothing else to say, nor is there more i need to say

I have MTH GS-4 in HO and O scale... Love them. I wish MTH would make N scale.
Mth will be no longer in 2021
There's two whistle settings when is the fog horn and when is The whistleblower
Press F7 to enable the steam whistle in DCC. Variable smoke output only works with DCS.
Great video, enjoyed. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely video :)
Does the sp 4449 have the same bell as n and a 611? Sounds just like the bell I heard in strasburg when it visited.
Trainz n progress it wouldn't surprise me, considering both bells are located behind the pilot.
Yes that’s is 611s Bell

Why do they keep putting the white walls on the GS-4?
Honestly idk why they keep getting this wrong. Same with all the silver detail parts that should be black. You can always paint them off I huess
Is there a function number or CV valve to change from Daylight whistle to the Leslie A200 airhorn sound?

Sounds like they used sounds from 611
Very nice review. I have the O Scale 2 Rail version and it's equally nice and fun to operate.
Going out on a limb here but I have a lot of o scale 2 rail that I'm not using.
The crank is the best to watch
If you want the steaming whistle to work you have to press F7 to enable it and then but the smoke fluid into it! :)

Now the question I where is the Berkshire run? I have been waiting patiently.
They said it is expected in June during their last live stream
@@TheSteamChannel oh my well, their site said March still so, I was questioning it. Thank you!
Dom's Trains yeah I was wondering that too
Is $450 good or should it be closer to $400?
I hope they make a UP 844 in H0 AC
Trainworld is almost all sold out of these wonderful locomotives the only ones they have left are the German the steam locomotives
I’m sure Scale Trains will be re-running all of these models with time.
Anything new from AHM?
12th. Sweet

You might be able to change the whistle with a DCS Control Station.
tàu
Its great but 450 is a bit excessive. BTW..., train world really is a great place to buy trains.
Thats cheap for a model like that. If any other company made it to the same specs, it would have been $600 bucks.
