Very impressive and attractive model of the N&W j class engines, the j class were an impressive sight to see with their unique individual streamlined appearance.
I know this video is old and it is likely that no one will see this, but i'll ask anyway. I just purchased one of these first-run Paragon 3 J models and whenever I blow the whistle, it ends with a static-like rattling in the tender. Does anyone know how to fix this, or at least how to safely remove the tender shell?
The tender shell might just be a “friction fit” meaning you can pop it off without unscrewing anything. Otherwise there will be a screw in each corner on the underside. The speakers used are also of a cheaper quality and if replaced with just one 28mm 1Watt 8ohm should also help with sound quality. A friend did that with one of BLI’s Pennsy L1 engines and the sound quality improved substantially. I know BLI likes to use 16 ohm speakers wired parallel and they are 30mm but mounting a 28mm single 8 ohm should fix it.

Very well done review with great background information on the real life engine. Good job.

I believe the J-class was one of the finest steam locomotives ever made; though I also like the Espee's GS-4 in Daylight colors. :)

Norfolk? I'd never heard of it being pronounced that way; is it local dialect?
Sorry, I meant to write: Norfork??
LOL. I was thinking the same thing. I’ve been to Norfolk, but don’t know where “Norfork” is.
Side rods are too dark.
The whistle is terrible!
