For a second there I didn't know if I was listening to Styx, Queen or The Electric Light Orchestra. Since I like all three bands, it's all good!
Saw them live a few days ago. WOW, do they rock!!!!
Love these last two STYX albums. What a late-career renaissance! Tommy and JY are ageless wonders!

@@novascotiagrown6138 Huh, I don't remember ever seeing it before now
I just found out that this album dropped last year, and I haven't been this excited for a new album in a long time. This is absolutely exquisite! 🤘
Wow. This album unites all the best, that ever happened in Rockmusic. Every single Song is a masterpiece. From the first to the last Song. Strong album!
This Styx Song song really has that Queen and Pink Floyd feel to it. I'm loving it.
I agree with you.. queen and Freddie were musical guinus and I always love Styx songs and Tommy is still so damn cute and talented songwriter singer. If you get a chance pls watch Tommy Shaw and the Cleveland youth orchestra (kids from all over USA come to this group of 12-18 yr old young and very talented players of instruments, which a lot of kids don't play! It's so refreshing to know the back story of their practices along with 100 kids playing with Tommy and young chorus united for a night's concert.. it's call renegade:
Tommy Shaw and Cleveland young orchestra..he does several great Styx songs.. angry young man.. renegade and others but those 2 songs stand out with great lyrics and music.. it's a celebration!
Maybe a little Rush storytelling as well. But totally agree. It is awesome and was chilling to hear it live the other night.
It's a good song! I'm still surprised that the Tommy/JY-fronted Styx is still so dedicated to the prog sound--who would have thunk?
Looking forward to hearing the whole album!
Styx with an essence of Kansas, Queen and ELO.
So, in other words NOT Styx. Styx always had their OWN distinctive sound that sounded like NO ONE else.
Styx has always paid attention to other Bands' Music. In the 70's the band was influenced by The Prog Rock movement in the UK - Yes for example. IMO
@@nigelr7890 Influence from other Prog bands, I agree. However, they always SOUNDED like Styx and only Styx. Will Evankovich, as producer and engineer, is making them sound like ANYBODY ELSE, EXCEPT STYX.
Well as you well know without Dennis they really should be named the Shaw Young Band. Mind you I quite appreciate their recent musical output.
I am a diehard Styx fan. I loved The Mission & this album may be better & stronger. Styx has their own sound & can not find it without DeYoung. This is closer to a Styx sound but borrows too much from Queen & ELO & Kansas. They definitely need to reunite with Deyoung & keep Gowan if possible. DeYoung's new albums and music are exceptional & sound more like Styx.
Gowan is such a total freak live on stage! The band sounds so powerful, new and fresh, but they kept their own signature sound too. They are the best prog arena rock band ever! I’ve seen them now 34 times in my life and man... they sound so good in 2022 it’s incredible!!
Hello, how are you doing? It’s nice seeing you here.
@@tommyshaw4050 very well
Thank you ❤️
@@BucketHeadianHagg Well I know you must be surprised to receive a message from me right?
@@tommyshaw4050 If you’re really Tommy, then tell me what you said to me about my ring when we were playing the Martin booth at NAMM show last year
Rush is the best prog rock band ever. Followed by Genesis, then Styx.
Seen them last night..dam they still kill it..been to many of their concerts keep rocking
Lawrence goin is amazing he not only cops dyYoung's voice but also his keyboard style and yet retains his own sound
this new album is a tribute to the stick sound nobody sounds like them I remember the first time I heard them I was like wow the vocals were just amazing and they still are true to form and this album knocks them all dead
He is truly a showman
I got chills, my hair stood on end, and I almost cried when I heard, "There's no denying the truth". Freddie? So beautiful!
I thought it was Brian May at the end
Great call on the Queen vocal sound!
Sounds like 70s Queen 🎸👍
Sounds like Styx
Like Kansas
It definitely sounds like Queen
Styx should have been inducted into the RRHOF years ago
How many bands are turning our rock of this calibre after almost 50 years.
Blue Oyster Cult
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. I would love to see who would show up to the induction ceremony.
Jann Wenner runs the RRHOF and he abhors Styx. For reference Jann Wenner used to run Rolling Stone magazine. Go look up any review written of Styx in RS.
@@spuwho No surprise. Rolling Stone Magazine is a joke too.
@@robpierce4712 I remember reading those reviews in RS by Lester Bangs and never could understand their animosity.
My daughter bought my husband and I tickets to see you in Nashville tn. I am 55 and grew up on your music.. I was completely amazed at how awesome your show was. I felt like I was 14 again!! And Lawrence gowen was absolutely amazing love love love you guys!!! Thanks for making me feel young again!!!! You guys still ROCK!!!

Hello, how are you doing? It’s nice seeing you here.
Like a superb kombo of Kansas and 10cc and with a Queen (tribute?!) ending. Nice!
I was born for adventures, and my boat on the river....
There are so many influences throughout this album of music. It has Styx dna for sure that you hear. I can hear Queen, Beatles, Yes, Steely Dan and even The Who & Pink Floyd. People act like that’s bad. It’s not bad. It’s influence on players that probably love all that music. But they say “it doesn’t sound like Styx!!” What they really mean is, it doesn’t sound like the hits they’ve been playing in concert for the past 30 years. And for that I’m grateful. Mission and CoTC are a breath of fresh progressive rock we’ve been needing for a long time.
No, not a breath of fresh air. Just pure GARBAGE.
Everything about this band is an incredible experience❤❤❤❤❤
Te best band in the world and still working for new fantastic material
Long time Styx fan and this is just an incredible song!!!! Keep on making creative and fantastic music that comes from the heart!!
Wow I stumbled across this and never really listened to Styx I mean I know there big hits and I live progressive rock and that’s what this is, I’m digging it!
Thank you for the song and video!! Love it!! Life is better with music. 🎤🎸🎵🎹🥁
Hello, how are you doing? It’s nice seeing you here.
Wow…. Very spiritual imho… love it guys.
Don’t stop writing new music.
I sure hope they keep going!
I'm in love with the piano in this one 😍
The entire Styx catalog is phenominal! All of it. Madame Blue is a fave.
Lovin' It ! 'The Mission' was my fav album of '17, so been long awaiting a follow-up....and....it sounds GOOD, guys!
I love the Queen style bits.
I think its a mistake to sound too much like another band.
@@YAMISOOLD2009 it’s not “too” much like Queen! Styx has always had the same sensibilities as Queen.
Alright!!!!!! I've been waiting a long time for Styx to release a new album and y'all did not disappoint
I wish to thank you for sharing this awesome music video with me .
Damn, I love this! Such an amazing full circle taken by so many classic rock icons when record label pressures forced so many great prog rock bands like Styx and Kansas to abandon their complex arrangements and lush sonic tapestries in favor of bubble gum pop marketed to roller skating teenagers. Now these bands simply don't give a flying fig about record label pressures and their true artistry shines once again. Check out Kansas' last couple of albums as well - they're also back to their amazing proggy selves!
I LOVE both of the songs we have heard so far!!!
Both songs???
@@SeanMorrisonRocks Crash of the Crown and Our Wonderful Lives. Do I have that wrong?

They sound spectacular!!! back to the 70´s!!!
I'm seeing Styx in Allentown tomorrow night and just now listening to this. It's blowing me away so far! Last time I saw them was around 1977.
Oh I just listened to this last night on YT music, I was like huh what a weird song, it reminded me of Mr roboto and it's literally the same artist, wow! So cool! Love it hehe
Has a very Queen vibe. Good song.
Old friends from the day bringing us the classic Styx and that message we need to hear. I'm ready and are we in the book of Revelations here? Be Blessed
Hello, how are you doing? It’s nice seeing you here.
Amazing new LP from Styx.
Saw this live in okc recently..knocked it outta the park!
Elements of this song remind me of Queen and Kansas. In the end though it does sound like a classic Styx song. It couldn't have been done any better.
Queen...Is that you?
Suprisingly good! An album to look foward too.
This is just flat out good 🤘
Love this! Awesome sound and song!
This entire album is amazng! Pure STYX

Pure geniuses this band should have been in the hall of fame a long long time ago..another masterpiece the fruit of hard work and passion very well done guys...
I consider myself to be one of the biggest sticks fans in the world this album is awesome I love listening to it and I'm listening to it everyday this is the best they've put out since equinox
keep it up guys ,Chicago Dan
You're such a big fan but then you spell the name of the band incorrectly. Lol. Spell check, my friend. It's your friend.
Yet you can't even spell the name of the band correctly. "Biggest fan" my ass.
The more I listen to more I like it and agree not as good as equinox but I would rank in top 4 albums
My god, will Tommy Shaw ever lose his voice? I hope not. This man sounds the exact same for decades. What an incredible musician.
Great song! Good to see Styx with a proggy taste again…
Heaven..... Thanks for another epic song.🖖🐢
This literally sounds like a song they produced in the 70's or 80's and waited to release until now.
you did it again !!!! mfckrs !!!!! great song !!!!! must in the styx style !!!!!
What a phenomenal album.... I'm only halfway through it.
I can't believe how "old Styx" this is! I LOVE it. Hope we get to see them live this year.
Hello, how are you doing? It’s nice seeing you here.
I thought the intro was a bit weak then BAM it goes back to the roots of Styx from the 70's with a little Queen harmonization thrown into the mix makes for an awesome song that are the roots of rock. Styx is legendary because there is no auto-tune or canned ( electronically produced sounds) just the playing of instruments. Which unfortunately is becoming a lost art with no music classes in school.
Nice 👍 don't ever stop writing you guys are amazing forever
OberGASM!!!!!
greattttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
Good album. Proggy, melodic, great keyboards. Very impressive.
Well done!!

It's showtime....
Without a doubt rock gods
Wow, there's so much meaning to this song that most don't even realize!! I just listen to The Best of Times and saw this was a video listed under them, and I was like what the heck.... I'll be honest I wasn't crazy about it at first. I'm one of those people I like a style and I continue liking that style but once I saw the magic and creativity. I was kind of blown away!

Rock n Roll with another message from STYX.....ground control??...ground control??.....STYX......and the Ring of 🔥.......
Nice!
A lot of typos in that last one I mean s t y x I always thought the name was corny I said sticks ? and then when I saw it spelled out this way I was like oh wow that's so cool
Beautiful sounds, can't wait to see you guys at Nutty Brown! First concert I'm ever going to of my own accord.
hopefully this is one of those albums that you have to listen to alot so that you can decide and apprieciate, or just styx? from the 70's... Where is the Renegade type songs...its Grand Illusion all over again...
Jim track sounds better each time I listen to it. Styx Rock!!!!!
I just did an album review a couple of days ago on my YT channel after listening to it about 5 times. We were record shopping a few weeks ago, and my wife asked if I knew about this album and I said no. I was intrigued and bought a copy. So glad I did. The whole album is great! I was a big fan way back (Pieces, Illusion, Paradise) and I wish I'd known about this in 2021. Thanks for a great album!!
Ahh, that 70's sound
Hello, how are you doing? It’s nice seeing you here.
This video is amazing and awesome and I like art of the video and song and music I highly recommend for all you Styx fan and if you are Dennis Deyoung give him credit for band he misses
This is very good.
I like it. Does have a hint of Queen.
You have to clear the shit out of your ears.
The best part was the homage to Dennis DeYoung's Mr. Roboto and The Best Of Times at 2:23 - definitely their best song without him. Good to hear Tommy hasn't lost his vocoder ability.
There’s no “mix” of sounds here. I’m a Styx fan and this is classic Styx style. Those comments are from people that didn’t mainline Styx in the 70s. They don’t “sound like” ANY other band. Super-excited to hear them play again!
This is Styx…. 70’s flavour!
