Sad but true... :-( bangshift.com/bangshift1320/fare-the-well-rocket-man-francois-gissy-the-frenchman-known-for-his-incredible-homebuilt-rockets-has-died/
I watched a rocket car using hydrogen peroxide at a dragstrip that had 4,500 lbs of thrust, blast off the starting line, run for 2.5 seconds and shut off the rocket and coast through the finish line lights at 275 mph. Seeing as though 275 is the legal speed limit for exhibition cars, he probably was going faster than that. I have a high pressure air over water rocket that has seen 9,500 lbs of thrust. Realisticly the peroxide car maintained 4,500 for the full two and a half seconds whereas mine briefly saw 9,500 before it diminished to zero. My gage only goes to 10,000 lbs and I saw 9,500 lbs with 3,000 psi tank pressure. I can very safely run 4,500 tank pressure, the tank is tested for certification at 6,750 psi and burst is between 9,000 and 10,000. I am using a full port two inch high pressure ball valve rated for 6,500 psi.
No, it's a purpose-built pressure vessel he (RIP)had made. It's just a water tank with an electric heater inside, superheating the water to about 500F, and a valve and a nozzle. Water flashes to steam in the throat and is accelerated to supersonic velocity.
He died on this same bike...left the road I think a lot maybe 6000 psi but he don't care just heat up the water to the max temperature he can and open the valve.
@@neoczy3249 I'm familiar with the carbon fiber wound aluminum cylinder he was using, they are rated for 6,000 psi with a minimum burst pressure of 15,000 psi. His system was using high pressure air pushing water that wasn't heated. Heated water or steam rockets are entirely different using water in a stainless steel cylinder heated to approx 400 degrees F.
Screw all the high tech shit trying to figure out how to propel things in space, can you imagine having several much bigger and more psi in stages. I bet you could hit 15000 mph in space or more
Now you know, why couldn't you read it for yourself and stop wasting people's time! One of my pet peeves is when you've travelled half the country in 5 hours and then some person wants to do their weekly shop in a Service Station, Dude people just want to buy fuel and get on their way, you can buy Lottery Tickets , Aspirin n Vapes at a Local Store. They should have one Till for fuel and one for "this is gonna take all day shit" .
It's steam, the water is stored under high pressure and at high temperatures (above boiling point) but the high pressure prevents the water from vaporising until a valve is opened and the pressure drops, vaporising the water into steam almost instantly.
I did a little bit of maths, and in the final test the rocket trike accelerates at 2.36 Gs from 0-100km/h. That is nuts.
Why dont the street cars use this instead of turbos???
😂
Power to weight ratio is not enough for that much resistance to movement.
Rest in peace. A true legend to the sport.
The rider is gone???

At least he got the Darwin Award. RIP, Francois.
Félicitation, impressionnant on se croiraient au bon vieux temps des fou volants avec leur drôles de machine !
Merci !

FANTASTIC. YOU ARE A GENIUS!
dead GENIUS...
Very impressive Francois. Is the trike "aero stable"? It looks like its on rails.
Yeah I was waiting for something cool as this.
ikr pretty sick, dude passed away doing this crazy shyt, his balls were left on earth - to big to get thru the pearly gates of heaven.
Amazing! Have you been training your hands? It must be very tough like you weigh for instance 500 kilo..?
In slomo you can see something like a rope holding him on the trike. But it must me like a bungee jumping hit
The trike that killed him. He passed away testing this same vehicle in 2018.
Nice video.
Really impressive bike. Two questions, is it a CNG tank? What type of compressor are you using to get almost 6000psi?

Why people are talking about he died? Thats so confusing
He crashed. Simple.
What is the 1/4 mile time on that beast?
Imagine racket bike running in sonic boom speed of light, what will happen to driver it burn smoking driver.
What about the brake system? How do you slow that thing down ?
You dont.
Normal disc brake ...he take him a lot of time to stop...he must rely a lot on the length of the road....and he know exactly the distance he can make

how much is the water pressure?
For the quickest acceleration and fastest run (261 km/h), the pressure was around 40 MPa (or not far from 6000 psi)
WOW! Very impressing. That is a LOT of pressure. I guess you had the container as well as the valves custom made to handle that kind of pressure.
