- While most of the teachers at Hogwarts are very knowledgeable in their own subjects and parts of life, you can’t deny that most of them are quite nutty in a special way. Whether or not they are experts in their fields really doesn’t make much of a difference when it comes down to whether or not they can be trusted to teach students properly.

The Sorting Hat uses leglimency, so others don't know what it is saying except the person wearing it.

@@i.love.jesus.1 The Sorting Hat only shouts out the name of the House. Rest all talk is going on in the head. I guess, it was a detail the movies did not add, since it was only barely mentioned in the books.

@@Unknown75918 It’s also kinda hard to portray an internal dialogue on film. This was a simple solution and I always believed that the privacy of the conversations with the sorting hat were implied. (I guess this guy’s never read the books)
1) All wizards are “quite nutty” and to be fair pretty much all muggles are too. Especially teachers.
2) In the book, the sorting hat speaks inwardly/privately to the student. However that is difficult to convey on film.
3) Hogwarts is shrouded in magical protection and Dark Magic detection spells. No one knew Pettigrew was an animagus as he was un-registered AND everyone thought he was both innocent and deceased. The Weasleys just thought he was a long-lived rat because of his life-long exposure to magic. Similarly, everyone believed Barty Crouch Jr. to have died years ago whilst incarcerated in Azkaban. Even Moody didn’t expect him to be alive despite living in a state of constant vigilance!

Witches or Wizards transforming into students pets could actually be a big problem,and looks there wasn't anything to prevent someone to infriltrate the castle being transformed,maybe because it's the teacher's duty to be aware in case there's some infiltrator,but there should be someone or something to check all the animals the students bring,maybe there is,I don't know,either way you can't deny that Sirius and Pettigrew were very good to be out of sight being transformed.
4. If you get expelled from Hogwarts, your life is essentially ruined. That's a pretty extreme punishment to drop on a kid.

I think you mean *aspects* not “attributes”. Attributes are, by their very definition, positive qualities. It’s kinda hard, if not impossible, to have a “terrible attribute”. That’s a paradoxical oxymoron.
