    Blender 3.0 is very capable as an alternative renderer becos its fast and photorealistic now. Maybe a option for someone without vray or keyshort.

    What option did you open Blender in: General, VFX, Video Editing, etc.... This is my very first Blender rendering using my own Rhino design.
    Awesome tutorial.

      I import the Rhino model in Blender's 'Layout ' environment. Thanks

    I like your job. I think about switching to Blender from Rhino.

      Hi ... thanks for watching. Blender is good for rendering and visualisation. But it is not a true CAD program like Rhino. So , i would not use it for precision modelling work. Some of my clients have their work done in a CAD program such as Rhino, Creo and I assist them in using the CAD files for rendering and animation with Blender.

    Here's a problem though. Your object is in centimetres. When you export it to Blender, it will be in metres. So you will have to scale down by 10 for lights and physics to be accurate. If you're working with small objects in millimetres, it's even more problematic and you will have to zoom very close in. I think it will cause a lot of problems for modifiers too.

      Plus if you want to then export back, your object will be 10 too small.

      Thanks for the sharp observation. I did not show the step on setting unit in Blender.

      No problem. I’m still not sure of the best approach. Maybe to have a preset blender document for Rhino objects. Otherwise as I say there is a lot to change every time eg camera clipping. I feel that the fault lies with blender. I think there’s a gap for a very clear video on how to deal with this. And for example to use rigid/soft bodies accurately. The goal should be to get from a product scale object in Rhino to an object in blender that is nicely scaled for the camera, accurate scale lighting and mass.

      @@jonathanhutchinson5649 Have you found a way?

    • @simpernchong
      @simpernchong  2 года назад

      @@jovannemarquis6623 Sorry for a late respone. As of this writing, Blender take any available measurement of the imported CAD models and assign them in metres.
      For example, if the unit of the CAD model (within its original CAD program) is in millimetres, Blender will assign that value in metres. So if a 200 millimetres CAD model is imported into Blender, it will become 200 metres.
      To correct that, we will need to scale down the object so that it corresponds to 200 millimetres again. To do that scale by 1/1000 in this situation, as 1 metre is 1000 millimetres.

    Hi. Thanks for the video. When I import my model, it is only a dot. Even if I scale it it stays a small dot… Don’t know why?

    • @simpernchong
      @simpernchong  2 года назад

      Hmm.. could it be that the model was so big that its out of the viewport viewing. The dot being the center.

      Hmmm... without looking at the process I can't ascertain the differences in steps. So sorry that I am not of help here.

    can I import in Blender an object with the materials,from Rhino?

    • @simpernchong
      @simpernchong  3 года назад

      Not that I know of. Only basic colour information will be imported.
