Welcome to Daily Life Drawing Sessions. These sessions allow artists to practice drawing 1, 2, 5, and now 10 minute figure drawing poses that we have selected from the vast Image Reference Library (www.nma.art/v3....
Using these videos is simple!
1. Set up your computer, laptop, or tablet near your working area with the screen at a perpendicular angle to your eye.
2. Make sure you are working in a well lit area with your drawing surface perpendicular to your eye as well.
3. Play the video and try to work in real time (no pausing!). First you will see a series of one minute poses. This doesn't give you much time so you'll want to try to get a sense of the whole figure, whether you're drawing gesture lines or an interconnecting lay-in. Even for the one minute poses, don't rush! Just set realistic goals for yourself.
Tip: When two images are shown side-by-side choose whichever image you like. If you repeat the same video session again (and we recommend you do) you can do the drawing over again or choose the other side.
4. After five one-minute poses, you'll get the chance to do five two-minute poses. Here you are going to work the same way that you did with the one minute poses but you'll also be able to start defining the forms (starting with major forms) and how they connect with each other.
5. The last two-poses are 5 minutes each. We have chosen particularly difficult poses here so take your time to work them out

This is my first time drawing poses as a beginner artist and let me tell you... it was amazing. I didn't even realize my potential until I got to minute 10 🤧 I got so much more comfortable drawing poses that by the end of it that I felt like couldn't wait to practice again tomorrow 😄 Thank you, this was very helpful 👍🥳
same
I remember when I started, I wasn't that good. But as I kept going I got better. Keep up the good work😁
Same! This was the most fun I've had in a while. I started doing gestural drawing this week, was doing seals, and wanted to move to human anatomy. I stopped at 25 minutes and didn't even realize I was almost drawing for half an hour! my last drawing and first drawing show so much improvement in those few minutes
omg thank you for writing this comment sm. about 5 minutes in i was gonna give up because the poses became seemingly impossible for me to figure out. then i checked the comment section and saw that you, another begginer artist, found it helpful by the end. So, I continued.
and you know, my poses started to look better! the very last one i drew looks pretty good!
This is an excellent resource! Especially when you're living in the boonies with no classes! Great poses! Thank you!
Needed to practice figure drawing and nearly forgot and procrastinated and just in the nick of time was recommended this! Thank god

I would love to see the model in a body sock with stripes as to help me practise with cross contours in mind. And thanks for these great reference videos
We were just discussing this recently. Maybe even with some body paint...
ErikNoble good suggestion. That would be helpful
New Masters Academy 5 years ago? I’m still waiting. 😁
elsa Grace we are developing a feature to do this with our 3d viewer (new version launches in a week or so) with scans of life models
prolly seen shenshi stock do this.
5:40 Yes music, that's exactly how I feel
Ina’s gonna have _lots_ of fun with this
Wooo!
Ok.........
was trying to learn gestures and wondered why it looked so familiar, just realized ina used this

Also me: Laughed at this
Honestly lol. When in doubt, JoJo pose.
I should have expected to find this here, thank you. 😏😏
Ohh that’s a real fan
Thank you so much for this video! The poses the model made were so dynamic and different, it had me admiring her flexibility before I started every drawing. This was very helpful.
Thank you for this non-nude series, very suitable to work in drawing classes for teens and also helps to learn to draw clothing folds
I finished going through all of this video series, doing all the indicated timings, today. I could still do more, but along with some other things I've been doing over the past few months, it helped me to graduate out of being tracing-heavy and feel more comfortable with my freehand work, generally. If you're just starting with figures here are some tips:
0. Get your drawing setup as ergonomically sound as you can. Angle the drawing surface(I use a laptop stand for this), get it at a good height(in my case, a cafe tray held in the lap), and learn the different grips for your medium, whether it's a digital stylus, pencils, pens, charcoal etc. Different media allow for different grips, and using them on a correctly positioned surface will let your arm and wrist make the most steady movements. As I did these videos, I made little improvements to my setup between sessions and they added up at to least as much of an improvement as the actual study of the images.
1. Put in some grid quadrants first to help you get proportions. Everything is limited by your proportioning skill at first and it doesn't take too long to make a "crosshair" to help you estimate, even on the 1-minute. It doesn't have to be a dense grid.
2. Aim to first mark in the dark shadows, negative spaces and the envelope shape formed by the pose. These are more abstract shapes which will help get you away from seeing face, arm, leg, etc. It's another proportioning trick! Everything starts with how you divide up the page.
3. Also look for directional landmarks. Often I would mark in the gaze of the eyes and the angle of the hips and shoulders to help get things started.
4. When you feel ready to make things feel more connected, you can add in the gestural lines. If you already feel comfortable with the proportion you can start with more gestural lines but often you'll discover that when the pose is more complex it's easier to capture the abstract shapes first with straight lines. Straight lines have clearer, simpler proportions than curving or wobbly ones.
5. If the figure looks flat, imagine a 3D form like a box or cylinder placed over each limb, and try to mark that in. This uses your skills at constructed forms and perspective to help you establish better proportions. These technical skills are practiced heavily in the Drawabox course, but mostly in an abstract way; here, you can use it to support and build on your observation. Likewise with anatomy; practicing to recreate anatomy drawings from memory can help you understand the detail when doing figures.
6. If you're starting to get bored, that's often a sign that if you keep going, you'll see "deeper" into the image and be able to work on more of the details. Make your sessions intense like workouts and allow yourself rest days if you feel burnout coming on. I averaged slightly over 1 video a day, and took one day off at the end.
Great insight!
Great comet
I’m still not going to read all of it because I’m lazy
I can't even draw a stick man but here I am thanks to Ina.

the last 10 minute pose is like a reward for the rapid hellfire of the last 25 minutes
I’m starting to draw, and these poses really helps me learn more about how to draw anatomy on my characters. Thank you 😁
Could you please consider uploading more such non- nude series videos along with the timer? They will really help me develop figure drawing as a daily practice!
Thank You so much for this figure drawing session! I cant afford the community sessions, and this is a godsend for me. Fully Appreciated Here!
Our discord channel is also free and we have a lot of free content there
Thank you! I have never done anything like this and I confess that at first, it was complicated, but it produced good poses.
I'm glad you guys have this video as a resource! I'm a beginner artist, and now that I've come across this video, I'm definitely going to make it my warm-ups before drawing! :D
A big thanks to New Masters Academy, as an illustrator this is invaluable help, in comparison to the price of classes in London it's also a must have. Tastefully done and with the timer included this is easily a 10/10 upload.
It’s pretty amazing seeing so many people come here from Ina’s videos (I’ve used these videos for years). Vtubers are very helpful

First figure drawing session... Even though my drawings look like hot trash, it was fun to do something like that. Gotta make it a daily habit.

This video: “level 1 draw two poses in 1 minute. annnnd GO!”
Dead Ringer -Cult of Deathrattles this is how dynamic figure drawing is taught on the west coast. The short time forces you to focus on the total gesture and movement. It’s challenging at first but as you do it you’ll develop great skills. 👍🏼

Its done to make you focus in pose rather than small details
Love the model and poses, she has a strong jawline yet very feminine!
great that i found it. poses in line of action site was feeling repetitive after nearly a month.
Welcome back! Tako fan here, telling you to once again support the channel and test out your own skills!
As always, it doesn’t matter where you’re coming from, because we all always know!
Stay safe and draw away!

I'm not an artist, but I've taken art classes. I'm self-conscious and self-critical, so it's hard for me to draw. These drills are great though. I know I won't finish, I know they won't look great, but they're quick enough for someone with ADD, and the end of a session is fun to look back on with all the changes and progress made from these rapid-fire drawings.
TAKOTIME!
total unnatural poses but expressive in scetching these.
First timelimit is so strict I felt like i had broken fingers to speed up, later I was ready before the timer counts down - for I was expecting to have less time XD
I've been following along and practicing a few times. Thank you. This is a great video.
Me: I will give this video a try, I want to draw some casual poses... Or someone dancing if I want something hardcore
The model: Doing some circus and inhuman poses like a possesed crab
#TAKOTIME with Ina ^^
These are some pretty hard poses, but I guess that's the fun of it, right? Getting them down feels very good
great series (I like this series over the other, because it is much easier to draw the form), and thanks very much for making it available.
I appreciate the service you provide, but I wish your models wouldn't wear any black at all. I can never see the shading or creases where there is black. Could we practice well if the model were wearing black head to toe? Neither can we practice a small area covered in black or any dark color.
this channel is amazing. thank you so much for this content
Surprisingly my first trys seems very good, ive got the hand of this

(9:05 checkpoint ) great video for learning poses!
Tako time!
this ks really good fro slow artists. its a good practice for speed sketches! and the dynamics show so much emotion im glad i found such a good resource
Great way to practice. The intervals between each pose is fabulous. Thank you.
Loved this I will be back tomorrow. Thank you.
I hope that your models wear fantasy warrior costumes..That would be amazing for drawing.. :)

Exactly what I was desperately searching for. Thank you!
I like this channel, I tried without an eraser and it was really fun, hopefully there will be more videos, and very helpful in training the hands, And I like the model to wear clothes ,love u 3000,
After practicing through poses and poses, I’ve decided that I suck at art and decided to become a politician at Germany.

크로키 연습을 하는데 정말 도움이 많이 되는 자료였습니다. 감사합니다.
I prefer clothed models for practice. I don't see any reason to learn figure drawing with nude figures, unless I was planning on creating art with nude figures in it, which I don't plan on ever doing.
this was a really great video I'm not that great at drawing poses but after this I kind of felt like I was skilled, and now I kind of know which parts of art which I'm lacking in like I am terrible of making poses in perspective.
An amazing learning resource. Though I hope it's not cheating to set it to a slower speed and work my way faster- I'm still pretty slow.
That's perfectly fine, it takes time to speed up but r slower allows for better detailing imo
Ahhh i've been looking for a video like this it helps having both timer and pose references at the same time thank you!! :)
Thank you so much, I can't explain how helpful it is
These were tough, but fun
Thank You so much for uploading these wonderful videos. It really helps me develop speed as well as confidence. I really feel obliged as your team takes the precious time to make such videos for aspiring artists! Thank You!!!
I kinda wanna try this but im too nervous to make mistakes because last time I made a mistake I ended up not drawing for almost a month and I lost every drop of my confidence....
thats was great thank you

Very dynamic poses, thank you for this resource.

fantastic poses from the model!, they resemble poses from comic book heroes like spider man

Wonderful music and ballet expressive model / lines, creative mood :) thank you. I noticed when I used to study salsa dance after work, I used to set human wood model into dance, poetic states, when I stopped dance exercises, trying to set wood model into poetic states, could not.
I just found this and it's amazing.
Thank you so much, this is so helpful!
Very relaxing and very good for loosening up your art skills
I am delighted! Thank you so much !!!
DONE. Thank you! Beautiful poses.
surprisingly, i had an easier time with the 5 minute and 10 minute ones. the ones that where i only had 1 to 2 minutes were the most difficult for me.
With the 1-2 minute poses, try to focus on getting down the simplest expression of the pose. Feel free to check out our playlist of instructors demoing shorter timed poses for examples of how to do this:

These posts are kind of fun to figure out
Ik im years late but as decent artist whos practicing to make a manga this may be not the greatest but its good enough as best to understand poses.
I like these to do my daily gesture, but you do have to put the speed in 1.75 because they give so much time!
this was super useful, and when i was on the 10 minute pose (cause i finished a bit early) i looked back on all the previous poses and thought 'wow, i did that?
overall just really helpful :)
