As a trans man with hEDS that also wants phallo, I can’t wait to follow your journey and wish you a speedy recovery! Side note- you being so open about having EDS helped me to understand my body and led me to my diagnosis. Thank you so much for all that you do!
I’ve missed your vids and didn’t even realize you had posted cause RUclips hates us. I am so proud of you. You are such a role model to me as an afab nb person who is neurodivergent and also has EDS. You are the reason I was able to be diagnosed with EDS and autism so thank you for everything you do. Ily plant dad
this isnt boring at all and very informative... I'm not on any waitlist for bottom surgery and have already had to turn down a top surgery opening because I don't have reliable support where I live. It really hit me hard having to turn down a surgery opening cause I've already been on the waitlist for years. You sharing your experiences gives a lot of reassurance in knowing what to ask for, what to expect, what could happen. My mother had hysterectomy due to cancer preventative measures and she told me that I definitely could not do it alone and it hurt in such a strange way because I had been doing everything alone and do not have reliable support from my parents. Disappointment really burns at first but whats important is to keep trying and looking for more options.
Usually can't sit through videos where someone just sits and talks. But Aaron is so knowledgeable and insightful! Love these types of videos from him. So informative!
As a med student I wanna give you an answer about the weight loss request your doctors did. Whenever you're planning a surgery for your patient a lot of factors come into play. Any surgery is not without risks and as a doctor you gotta measure the risks vs benefit thing. The fact that you live with EDS is a big risk for surgery since this condition makes your body not heal the way you would consider "ideal". This is a risk you cannot remove. Weight is what we call a modifiable risk. The less fatty tissue you have , the less variables you can have with the anesthetics or any other medication that may be used during surgery and recovery. This because fatty tissue affects the way your body processes farmaceutics. I agree with you that BMI is not an accurate scale all the time, since they are various factors that influence a person's weight, but it is still mostly universally used for the surgery calculations. The less risks factors you've got, the best prognostics you got for less complications during surgery and best recovery after. I'm sorry you've had such bad experiences with doctors in the past. You've actually given, across the years, a lot of good tips about the way patients perceive certain things doctors say to them and I hope I don't make the same mistakes your doctors have.
I don't think this channel subscribers accepts basic, evidence-based theories. Because comment about 'BMI being absolutely inaccurate ' got more likes that this one. I'm also a med student, BMI evaluation is indeed universally used and increased BMI actually is linked to certain risks (CV events etc).
It actually clears up a lot of things, thank you ! Doctors should explain it the way you did. Because the only times a doctor brought up BMI to me was to prove in some way that I was too fat, and it just left a bitter taste in my mouth (and left me with a long-lasting eating disorder also).
People like to use the few examples of BMI being not so accurate and because of those, claiming it is "totally inaccurate" because they don't like to face the fact that they are indeed overweight or obese. Much easier to claim BMI is totally inaccurate than to face facts and put the work into losing weight and getting healthy.
It's unfortunate that there isn't enough research and resources going into figuring out how to do those calculations and assess those risks in a more accurate way that does necessarily exclude people for their weight. Although in some cases people can safely lose weight in a circumstance like this, some people can't, and if the default system is BMI then doctors will be less likely to look for alternatives or work with a patient. There are too many doctors who simply don't want to think outside the box, and if the methods never evolve there will still be people harmed. It's the same reason women, trans people, and people of color consistently go undiagnosed for longer and receive lower quality care than cis white men. I also don't necessarily think it's the fault of people like you who are in the medical field that these problems aren't getting solved - you need money, resources, people, and time to research these issues and all of those things are lacking in a society that doesn't prioritize care or quality of life in most cases. Thank you for all that you do, and thank you for taking time out of your day to inform people.
I'd be interested to get your take on the often cited stat that like 90% of people regain lost weight. With studies showing that large back-and-forth weight fluctuations are more unhealthy than just simply staying constant in the overweight category, is it ethical for doctors to keep suggesting weight loss, especially without accompanying medical advice about how to do so safely and effectively for long term health?
I'm glad to see you in a video again. I'm glad you're taking these steps and I'm glad you're taking it at the pace that is as ideal as possible for you.
Congratulations on your bottom surgery! That's such exciting news :D I'm also happy to see your face again and honestly, this background is totally fine, in fact, I'm enjoying seeing your little plants there in the background but of course, do whatever works best for you. Best of wishes on your bottom surgery journey and hope all goes well
also. thank you, for being so open and vulnerable-you don’t owe anyone your story or your medical info or an explanation for why you need to do what you need to do-and so i just wanna leave space to say thank you for letting us in on such a personal journey 💜
Oh!
Aaron!! you're back!! I check your channel from time to time to see if you've posted. And congrats on moving forward with bottom surgery!! I remember back when you said bottom surgery was not something you wanted and that made me wonder if it was the right choice for me even though I had been wanting it since I was 16. I'm 27 now and I'm one year post op with Dr. Chen and Dr. Watt. Hope to hear more from you!!!
it really brightened my day seeing you upload again! congrats on getting through a year at uni and congrats as well for your upcoming surgery! i know from experience the process of getting surgeries like this isn't always easy, but definitely is worth it. best of luck to you and i'm excited to see you upload again when you get the chance!
Wow it's so good to see you again. I have always enjoyed your videos and all the content you have made. Well this is definitely a huge step and I think that one's dysphoria must be so severe to be willing to go through this phalloplasty operation. I'm terrified of surgeries due to some complications in the past so I'm really happy to hear how you are handling your concerns and your fears and all that. it seems like you are in a very good place regarding dealing with your fears and your concerns. Sounds like you're being very realistic and not having super super high expectations. Of course I wish you only the best I hope everything goes so smoothly and that there isn't profound problems of any kind. You answered some really good questions so it was a very thorough explanation of where you're at today. Thank you so much.
It’s great to see you on here again! I appreciate hearing about your bottom surgery experience. Always lovely to see Karina too if she wants to join you! :)
Mobility is such a concern of mine in terms of RFF. I'm a pianist, violist, violinist, dancer, and computer scientist so allllllll of those things involve dexterity and mobility of my wrist, hand, and fingers. I wish you luck, Aaron.
I know you are not seeing me, but when you said I looked good I was flatted. I'm so happy for you and wishing all the things turns out well, mostly your mental health for dealing with it all
Welcome back! I love this setup, I feel like it's more intimate than the other one. I hope you do make more videos going in depth about the medical side of things, EDS runs in my family so I'm always picking up little tips that help us all understand what's going on a bit more.
Yyaaay so glad to see you Aaron, was watching some of your older videos today as it happens. Congratulations on your surgery, we are all here to support you on your sausage journey 🥰 I'm not trans but I first found your channel through mental health googles, as it stands am currently 6 months clean from self harm ❤
On the topic of self harm and your donor site you could check out Finntheinfinncible. Hes a British older trans guy who had lots of self harm scars on his donor site for phalloplasty, his procedure was successful and he has lots of advice videos :)
I seriously appreciate your transparency talking about bottom surgery. It's something I really want but has always scared me and it helps to see more people talk about it.
I miss your videos but I’m happy you’ve been going to university that is great news. I’m also very excited to hear that you are moving forward with your transition.
The new setup is great! ❤️ So happy to see you again! I was sad when I found your channel and saw you had ne uploaded in a long time, and I totally understand filming only when you have something to say, that's good! Keep it sustainable for you!
I missed ur name popping up!! :) the setup is totally okay! omg glad you’re making progress pursuing this, I’m trying to get things rolling for myself and the waiting is tough but you’ve got this!!!
I am so excited to see a video from you! I've missed your content. I'm at work right now and can't watch this more several hours but just wanted to comment how glad I am to see you back!

I did get overly excited and comment before fully watching. You've got a journey ahead of you still but you've taken the first steps and that's awesome.
I missed your videos, I'm glad to see your face again! The background is completely okay, do whatever is best for you :) I'd love to hear the skin care routine (I struggle with acne because dermatillomania combined with sweating easily isn't a great combo), it might be able to help me out :)
this is really informative! i don't know if i'll ever have bottom surgery but i appreciate the knowledge of what the process is like and the mindset you have about it
I love this background bc stim toys and plant dudes!!! Also BIG good luck on surgery (ik it's not that soon but like,,,,) hope it goes well and recovery is manageable
Love your channel so much Aaron. Yes, pls make a vid on how you treat your rashes. I have terrible eczema and urticaria. It’s awful. Aloe Vera and apple cider vinegar seem to work well, but I’m always looking for other/new treatments. So happy for you! ❤️
❤❤❤! It's so good to see you again! I personally have no intention of getting bottom surgery, but it is very useful to have info about that regardless.
Glad to see you again! I was supposed to get top surgery in the summer but COVID stopped it. I'm having to improve my health for it too. The surgeon suggested losing weight would improve my results, but he didn't say it was a must. Even still, I'm going to try my best. New plan is to have surgery in the December holidays (so I have recovery time) then get testosterone soon after that. It's good to have something to work towards, I think Other than University (Congrats on finishing first year also! I finished mine in June. Looking forward to next year)

Love your channel so much Aaron. Yes, pls make a vid on how you treat your rashes. I have terrible eczema and urticaria. It’s awful. Aloe Vera and apple cider vinegar seem to work well, but I’m always looking for other/new treatments. So happy for you! ❤️
AARON!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited. Glad to see you my friend!
It's good to have something to work towards, I think
Other than
University
(Congrats on finishing first year also! I finished mine in June. Looking forward to next year)
Glad to see you back! I missed you🥺
I'm watching this in 2023, how's your surgery now?
I'm so glad you're back!! I wish there were captions so I can watch this though...
They should be up soon! I pay for a captioning service, it’s just lagging behind a bit!
@@AaronAnsuini thank you so much!!! I really appreciate that you do that!!!!! 💞💞💞
Captions have just been completed!
AAA I used to watch you all the time while I drew your voice was nostalgic for me just now 😂💖💖
