    Lea Louise.......I watched on RUclips the unboxing of quilts for your church Helene storm project. I Heard you briefly talk of sending MEN''S CLOTHING. I have several questions: Do these items need to be NEW, or ok if gently used for shirts/sweaters....and new for underwear, socks? I am planning to speak to my entire family at our Thanksgiving gathering. I want to tell them of this need and offer to ship the boxes to the church address you listed if they will help with the need. I love watching you and your helpers do the unboxing. I have an idea that I hope you might do. I am drawing and making notes on some of the design the women quilters send!! I do a lot of lovely charity quilt sewing. I am 88 but still have good hands, and good eyes for which I praise our Lord every day!! What if you could photograph some of the best/unique designs and give a hint as to block sizes? Those who have quilted for a long time can figure out how to make. I probably won't live enough years to design and sew all the ideas I see....and make notes of !! But the NEED FOR CHARITY quilts will not end! Thanks for taking time to read this......and answer. Here is my home phone: 740-545-6269. I would love to speak with you....feel like you are a friend. I love to watch and hear you. But I know you are a busy woman. Christian quilters helping others! God is so good to us!!!!

    I love your color choices. This looks like a very easy and useful pattern to have in my toolbox. LOL I can see making blocks, or at least strips of three, here and there as I finish projects, and then putting them together once I have enough. --- Unlike you, I do not buy pre-cuts. They are so expensive (30% more than yardage just for the convenience of them cutting it for you) and there is so much waste. Either the pattern doesn't call for all 42 squares, or 10-12 of the squares are tiny checks or other non-print squares that wouldn't fit into the same quilt as the others. Then you need to either buy a second layer cake bundle (with even more expense and wasted blocks) or yardage. I'd rather buy just the specific fabrics I like and focus on those in a design, and only buy the amount I need.

      This is a wonderful quilt for using up lots of any kind of fabrics! I completely understand your thoughts on precuts. I lived on a small-ish island for 15 years without direct access to any kind of fabric...or even a mall or WalMart! Loved the life but quilting fabric wasn't even an option. I joined a fat quarter fabric club from a quilt shop near where I used to live. The rest is history. Fifteen years later I had over 1K FQs and had to find ways to use them all! LOL Guess that's why FQs work so well for me, I'm used to quilting that way. It's be interesting to know how other quilters have found their 'quilting groove'. We are a determined bunch and will always find a way to quilt! Thanks so much for watching and adding your comments. 😊 Happy Quilting,
      Lea Louise

      @@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise When I lived in Florida years ago, I had a writer friend in England that was also a quilter. When her husband had a business trip to Orlando, she came with him...with 3 extra empty suitcases. While he took the rental car to his meetings, I would pick her up and we would hit all the fabric stores we could find. She spent hundreds of dollars on fabric saying it could cost two to three times as much in England and she needed to stock up.

    Not sure how to figure out which rows have white strips on top or bottom ??

    • @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
      @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise  2 года назад +1

      The rows are sewn together vertically, Giselle. Then every other row is turned around to change the placement of the white rails. It's a wonderful design trick that makes this a super fast quilt! Happy Quilting,
      Lea Lousie

    What in the world is a botanic?

    • @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
      @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise  2 года назад

      It's very likely I'm misusing this word, Sandy. I think of botanic gardens filled with plants, flowers and trees. Those are some of my favorite images to quilt with. Luckily for me there are lots of these fabrics to choose from. 😍 Happy Quilting,
      Lea Louise
