Too many russians, included educated ones in Miscow, consider that Russia is only reclaiming its lands, which include all Ukraine since it was part of the Russian Empire before 1914. The cognitive dissonance is absolutely insane to watch. The authoritarian Russian dictatorship is the closest thing we have to fascism from World War II in the world today. Maybe North Korea and Iran come somewhat close as well but both of those have a much stronger religious combination whereas Russia today is almost identical to fascism from Italy and Germany in World War II. Yet these Russians somehow think that a sovereign democratic Ukraine, fighting for the right to exist and just be able to trade with Europe and the West and make a alliances to defend their nation State is somehow fascism. It is in Ukraine that no one enlists and the dictator has people forcibly taken from the streets and sent to the front without training. They are citizens, not soldiers, in fact they desert and surrender without shooting, proven facts that the Ukrainians themselves talk about on the field, the few real soldiers left. This is why they lose faster and retreat every day. They wasted the reinforcements in Kursk, Ukrainians trained in the UK by the SAS and the rest are mercenaries who speak French, Polish and English, including Americans from a well-known contractor company (paid by the US but so they can say they are not directly involved). Don't underestimate the effects of massmedia. I visited Spain and England in the run up to the invasion of Iraq. Despite both countries contributing, the general perception couldn't have been more different. All Spaniards I met, from the right to the left, said "we do this to earn points" in London and/or Washington. Everyone was quite cynical. In England, everyone I met thought the invasion was right, in principle, although some people argued that it couldn't be done against obvious opposition from other trustworthy countries. But those countries were mistaken, of course. The English weren't cut off from massmedia in other countries. But they didn't trust forreigners, except for Americans. 😉

Like the second guy seems more dissociated to the things he told the interviewer. We can't ignore the fact that Russia is a dictatorship. Of course except the old guy, he is obviously beyond insane
Hear me out for a second... Here's the catch: firstly, there is no such thing as "how the average Russian thinks and feels", and secondly, these people merely represent the opinions of Russians who are not afraid to speak on camera. A non-negligible number of people, especially in big cities like Moscow and Saint P, think VERY differently, but are afraid to voice their feelings and opinions due to repression. This creates the image that the majority of Russians support the government and its actions, which scares and silences our people even more, robbing public discourse of any opposing opinions; and making foreigners believe that Russia=Russians, that we all think alike and support mr. Pootin. So please, if you, the person reading this, are able and willing: try to understand and share as much as you can that there are a lot of people in this country who want the war to stop and the government to change. People whose opinions never reach the public. Who are afraid to speak up, because it seems like they are alone. We don't need interviews like these. We need other kinds of interviews.

It's his partner doing these now.
I live in Russia to this day, I read the comments under the video. People are surprised by the contradictions and hypocrisy of Russian citizens in this video. Since February 24, 2022, I have been trying to explain obvious things to my fellow citizens who say the same thing as in the video. I have said that it is a crime to bring troops into Ukraine, that the Russian army is destroying cities and killing people, but what is obvious to me just does not occur to them. I have long since gotten tired of trying to change their minds. Believe me, it's useless. I don't understand how it works
I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope one day your people are ready to own up to their mistakes and finally start asking the hard questions. Only then can you truly be free
Россия никогда не признает ошибки, никогда не извиняются за войны, поэтому и всегда воюет, вот напали на Финляндию еще перед 2 мировой и радуются и сейчас как и всем нападениям, ето безумие
I don’t believe these people are that stupid… they just want to believe what they want to believe… same thing happening right now in the USA
The fact that majority of the people never cared, and don't care up to this day that the ukranian military shelled civilian targets long before this "special military operation" in the Donbass region, really makes me sad...

The others were basically the same. "I don't think about it because 'I get anxious'," "I don't pay attention to politics," or "I don't know what's going on only the people there know." Only one person seemed to speak intelligently & understood that 2022 wasn't something anyone needed.

@@clmBerserker Good, you drink the propaganda like a sheep without asking questions. They have direct orders to shoot at civilians.
"You can't hit houses with rockets" - absolutely incredible.
All of this is happening only because you have been doing this to Ukraine for the last two years. With one major difference: Ukraine is not deliberately targeting civilians the way the russian military does. What a paradox.

the act of provocation was actually when russia illegally took crimea from ukraine in 2014 and aided seperatist groups in eastern ukraine in 2014 as well, so if thats the act of provocation then i wonder what the 2022 invasion is supposed to be

But they didn't trust forreigners, except for Americans.

people have no power anywhere in the world. Governments have power. In the west you have "freedom" but whatever you say doesn't matter unless you form a big organisation which threatens the status quo in which case Putin would be a baby. Just look at what happened wi Julian Assange, Wikyleaks, Snowden, Bernie Sanders in 2016 etc. The west is a better alternative not because it gives you freedom to vote but because the whole economic mammoth (of which you are a leech ) thrives on exploiting the environment and poorer countries by enslaving populations to blind consumerism. The West, Russia and China are all the same, what differs is the ways in which they control the population.
