Thanks for the question, does trunks were produced in very similar styles for more than 100 years. I don’t know that I could tell you anything specific about your particular trunk. The only advice I can give you is that to be aware of the fact that every single now That you see on the outside of the trunk is nailed all the way through the interior and generally bent over making it impossible to cleanly extract. Therefore, when it comes to replacing the leather handles on the sides, you have to remove the stamped metal covers, and that’s a pretty tough procedure. The word fun doesn’t come up a whole lot
I just received a trunk from family. Can you tell me about it ,if I send you picks? I want to clean it up but not restore it. Just clean it up and take the sharp edges off, The tin and change the handles. I think I know how to do it by watching what you did.
